Asmus assured me back in November that they had my order on file. The button on their website to log in to your old account to check your orders doesn't work. I just sent a follow up email to see what the deal is.

Expressions #5 and #7 are my favorites.

#5 captures that sad look he sometimes showed when Sam was giving his "... that there's some good in the world worth fighting for..." speech at the end of TTT. (would look good displayed alongside Frodo and Sam.

#7 captures the final glee of re-acquiring the one ring... (would look good displayed holding up the ring.)

I’d go for 3 and 7 also but I think 3 is too subtle of an expression for Asmus to capture so would opt for 1 instead as they could get a little more cartoonish and exaggerated and it would still convey the same sinister demeanour.

Given the quality of the current Gollum/Sméagol heads- both of which I find underwhelming- I can’t get too excited for the prospect of yet another sculpt that also only mildly resembles the source material.

Do you think the elbows can crack with this pose?
That is the million dollar question. I don't know the exact material used on the arms so I honestly don't know if the bent elbow pose causes eventual breakdown of the material.

I don't usually put these type of bodies in any risky poses. I'm not even sure what the Gollum/Smeagol figures will look like in several years, even keeping the joints in unstressed poses.

I've been pretty fortunate so far with the other jointless figures in my collection. I hope Gollum/Smeagol last a long time.

The material covering the torso definitely seems to be rubber. And it's quite thin. I don't like its chances long term. But the material on the arms and the straight legs feels maybe more like vinyl? So maybe somewhat less prone to cracking, but it could always be a possibility.

So yeah, the GtG upgrade hats were IN FACT only available to those that ordered Bilbo. So they went back on what they promised dedicated customers. Not surprising. So if you wanted a hat you in FACT would had to be forced fo purchase another item you didn't want to get it. Ridiculous.
I was able to purchase the hat separately without any other figures. I think you could do that ?

Not according to this customer service rep. Besides, I'm not paying for something that was offered as a FREE upgrade. Anyways, I'll just wait for my GtG hat upgrade with InArt. 🤷🏼‍♂️

After thinking about it, I think this will make for a great alternate Gollum sculpt. It shows him as more of a schemer and not necessarily that angry version.

It's got to be done right, though, or else we may get a "high school year book senior portrait" look...

Here we go... Expect more chaos trying to figure how to get one!!
Yeah, I feel they could have easily included two sculpts with each version, maybe then pricing it at $150-170 instead of one sculpt and $130 (each figure) of course then the luxury set would have reflected that in price as well.

Will be interesting to see how they offer this. I'd like the #1 voted sculpt. But no interest in sad Smeagol. Would have preffered the happy one.

I don't think it would ever happen, but I would love it if they included a little display stand for this additional head so you can display all three at the same time even if you only have two bodies. Would hate to leave one hidden away in the box.

I'm honestly debating on buying a third figure if I'm able to snag this Scheming Gollum sculpt.

I have other spots in the collection that I could use him for a third display. Either with Frodo and Sam or With Martin Freeman's Bilbo.

Completely agree, but I can't I can't help but feel their current policy is to give extras by forcing us to buy something else as well.
It'll be a "free with", or discounted if you purchase another figure, or overpriced but comes with a voucher for another figure.
Whoever is making these kind of decisions at Asmus should really just be removed from the building.

Yup. I agree. Literally was just confirmed this business practice with Asmus Customer Service. If I wanted the Crown GtG hat upgrade I should have ordered the Bilbo. Which I didn't want.
