Working on the basis of what my Part 1 car cost, which was around an extra 20% once shipping & import charges were added, perhaps just over that.

The only reason I still buy from Sideshow, is that they've been very helpful & zero hassle when something has needed to be returned, which is annoyingly pretty often!

My Part 1 car had a pretty large scuff to the front fascia & one of the headlights was hanging out. They offered 20% off (may well have been more actually) to keep it or destroy it & would be replaced. Couldn't bring myself to smash it up, so took the 20% off & sold it to a friend who's a professional painter to repair for his collection. I ended up ordering another one which was perfect.

I've had some very large & expensive items need to be replaced with Sideshow & they've always been ace, can't fault them on that front. Could just be my experiences though.

Don't get me wrong, if I didn't already have the original version, I'd definitely take the punt on this one but in reality, I've only got the space to display one & the plutonium reactor version was always my preference. I may pick one up at a later date however, although if I keep buying at the rate I'm buying, I'm never going to afford to move into the mansion I'll require to house all this stuff!

I honestly think everyone that wanted one should get it and take their chances. You have to remember that people that had issues are most likely to be more vocal about it than the ones (like me) that got one in perfect condition but they are still in the minority.

It’s not about getting a good one, taking your chances, or the vocal minority. The mechanism is faulty. It doesn’t matter that you have no issues whatsoever, the wheels will eventually break with use.

It’s a great display piece. You can probably keep it on the shelf and not play with the hover conversion feature, but most people want to flip those wheels out back and forth as vigorously as they want and not have to worry about breaking it.

If you sell it in the future, you’d have to advertise the sensitivity of the mechanism and the high likelihood of breakage.

Damn hate reading all this bad news. But I want this thing so much !!

Plus I got a big discount using points. So I'm going to risk it !!

Is there any truth to the figure being more fragile than the V1? I was thinking of getting the V2 and sell off my V1 but I'm having second thoughts after all the issues, doubly so if the figure feels "cheaper" in hand.

I think the fragile part is only referring to the wheel mechanism issue. The body of the car should be exactly the same as V1...because technically it is. Lol.

Good to know, thanks. I heard they used cheaper plastic for the mold and the brushed metal isn't so pronounced as the V1, glad to know the built quality (sans wheel mechanisms) are identical then.

I have no authority to speak on this because I haven't held them both in my hands at the same time, but judging by what others who do have both have said I think they're the same overall.

I'd say if you ordered this from Sideshow (and you still want it), just keep the order and have it delivered.
You just inspect it thoroughly, and try free replacement if you find something. (until you get the item without defect)

How did y'all get the front bumper thing on? The right and left frames snap into place without issue. But clear nubs on front piece will not fit in the slots. The videos from Adam Savage and Danoby both skip past them actually connecting it to the main body. Danoby at least acknowledges they are a giant pain to assemble.

I tried sanding the corners but the nubs on the nubs are tiny and I don't think a heat gun would do much on transparent plastic. I ended breaking the bottom part of one of the nubs after 30+ attempts. It's mostly secure but puzzling.

What happens if you need to remove them? It would've made a ton of sense to preassemble these parts and have room in the styrofoam in case you need to sell or pack up for a bit.

Mines arrive tomorrow…wish it didn’t have this many issues, but I def don’t plan on doing much with it other than picking a look and setting up on a shelve with Marty and Doc…then just stare at it, I also never really keep electronics on any of my figures…so maybe I’ll turn them on for a few pics and that would be it…as long as it comes good and not broken already, I’ll manage with csre i guess…shame on HotToys for the QC tho

Are all you guys getting your's from Sideshow ?? Has anyone received a Delorean from anywhere else ?

I'm kinda hoping that they are fixing at least the wheel and seat issue for later batches, which is the group I'm sure I'm with.

Surely they'd have to do this considering the number of returns we've seen at least by YouTubers, and on here.

I mean this is probably the historical reason for a first batch. To catch any major issue before it goes to full production. I'm quietly confident myself.

Is anyone with the Delorean able to measure the full width and height of the vehicle accounting for when one of the doors is opened upwards (as in the image)?

I'm wanting to order a display case to display the Delorean in this pose, but struggle to find measurements when any doors are opened (which adds additional width)

Well, got mines yesterday and spent some decent time putting it together and inspecting it, I must of gotten lucky because the only fault I was able to find was the clear plastic on the alarm clock was lose and came off….the wheel mechanism was fine, yes I also agree something like this should have used diecast instead of plastic because initially it was scary…but once I converted for the first time I knew exactly how much force I could apply to do it and it wasn’t bad….the other complaints I read here was the base not fitting properly, which mines did after carefully finding the inserts, the electronics were all good..have it plugged in via usb…the framework was a bit of a pain to put together and should have came like that from factory, but not a deal breaker, the door hinges do look like they’ll give in over time and won’t stay open…that’s my impression…overall I’m wild happy with mines and after collecting for 7-8 years I think this is now my holy grail…it just looks incredible…gotta dig up my Marty from storage…leaving it displayed right in our living space I’ll get better pics later for yall

If you look at this supplier for acrylic cases you can go by their dimensions.

They have internal and external dimensions there on the page. And pics show the Delorean with doors in up position.

I did see that the DeLoreanTECH guy said on his Youtube channel that this company were planning to make a larger display for the Part 2 Delorean in flight mode. But they were waiting on their version to ship from Sideshow in order to come to the dimensions and add to the website.

I'm waiting on that to work out what I'm going to do.

Cool thanks man, were you vacuuming with an industrial vacuum cleaner when filming ?? Some really loud noise there. But can mute it.

Cool little video though !! Can't wait for mine !!! Fingers crossed with improved plastic wheel part/design.

My replacement DeLorean came today and I checked the lights, checked for scuffs, tugged the seats, and flipped it over to check the tires. Everything checks out okay so far so good. However, I do believe these are ticking time bombs so it's really just a matter of time.

I can definitely see how these tires break given how hard it feels to tug some of the wheels out. One wheel slid out out easy but the other three felt like they needed a real hefty tug to pull them out and there really isn't a good place to get a handle on them to pull without breaking them because of how weak the plastic is. The package was outside and it was in the 40s today so the plastic felt very cold to the touch so I just packed it up and said maybe another day soon after it warms up in the house a bit.

I am pretty sure that in the original wheel design, when Hot Toys released the first pics of the prototype, they used diecast for the mechanism.




I hope to see more user experiences with the wheels by the time it's available for Europe.

The hover mode is the biggest reason for me to get the Hot Toys version.
I am already happy with my moded Eaglemoss, but they couldn't get the wheel position of the hover mode right.

Breakable wheels would be THE deal breaker for me.

I will have the European version. I should receive it in August or September 2023. I will let you know if there is really any difference from the current versions. For now, our equivalent of 'Sideshow' has not notified me of any delivery delays or anything like that.
