Taika movie- apparently happening still???? and he wants to star??
I'd take him to task about the self-insert but dude can't hear anything over the sound of how awesome he thinks he is.
We are entering the 4th year of no Star Wars on the big screen
Maybe a blessing in disguise? I don't know at this point.

I dunno why anyone is still expecting KK to be fired, it'd have happened by now if it was gonna happen.

I don't disagree, I personally am glad that there aren't awful movies being made attached to this IP that cannot be rebooted. I think that's the key distinction between this and the MCU and DC. They have a button that Star Wars will never have. So of course they should be careful with what they make.

But the mistakes they have made in the past are what has put them in this situation. A completely planned sequel trilogy that had moments of brilliance could have been incredibly reinvigorating. But I honestly think a Solo box office performance would be more likely for any future Star Wars movie that doesn't include fan favourite characters vs a performance like TFA.

Lucasfilm were so terrified that they couldn't even make Obi Wan Kenobi a movie, a story that involved Darth Vader and brought back two of the leads from the prequels which have a whole generation of fans who want to see that story!! That should have been money in the bank! Instead its a Disney+ show that came and went with completely uncinematic and uninspired direction (and we didn't even talk about the story itself).

It's not a bad thing to not have movies because they've only made 1 out of 5 that i enjoy today, but it speaks to just how bad things have gotten with this IP. And it speaks to the fact that Lucasfilm themselves are paralysed in the filmmaking department. This is a decade of all the same rubbish of creative differences.

All this probably really pleases George Lucas or really distresses him.
Well, we know from Bob Iger himself that George was very unhappy and given the term George used to describe Disney I think he is probably incredibly sad seeing what is happening to it but also relieved he isn't the target of the blame. Must be such a bittersweet feeling

I want to be fair about this. The Big Mouse completely wrecked Star Wars. It's incomprehensible how they could screw up this badly. That being said, if Good Old George wanted it all a certain way, he shouldn't have sold the whole farm to Disney.

I have a lot of love for Lucas for the original Trilogy. But his sour grapes now is a straight up "Karen" type move.

No one in this life is above being told occasionally that they need to go **** themselves.

Cancelled movies? No theatrical releases for years at a time? More of a focus on TV series instead? Um... that's basically the same thing as when Lucas was in charge. :lol

Having cancelled his own trilogy of movies 40 years ago, and abandoning other rumored SW projects, let's not forget that this was the onscreen output during George's 35+ years in charge:

1977 ANH
1978 Holiday Special (TV)
1980 ESB
1983 ROTJ
1984 Caravan of Courage (TV)
1985 Battle for Endor (TV)
1985 Droids (cartoon)
1985-86 Ewoks (cartoon)
1999 TPM
2002 AOTC
2003 ROTS
2003 Clone Wars (cartoon)
2008-13 The Clone Wars (cartoon)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would've been happier if most of that list had never seen the light of day, even when the pickings were slim. And, yes, I can say the same exact thing about Disney SW. As with most fictional properties, less has proven to be (almost always) more.

I'm hoping all the cancelled film projects are the result of knowing how crucial it is for theatrical SW to come back with a bang and not a whimper. If a project is seeming too mediocre, it shouldn't move forward. Simple.

If the next movie feels like nothing more than the latest product off the assembly line, or just an extension of the D+ shows, that'll be much worse for business than bad publicity from cancelled projects. They need to get this next one right, but that can't happen without first finding someone who has a genuine story vision and a desire for something more ambitious than just expanding the lore.

Couldn't be happier about this development. Send Lindy off to burn another franchise to the ground.

As for Kennedy being fired...um, no. Judging by the Womandalorian (it's the Bo show now) this season, the upcoming Ashoka and the girl-centric Acolyte, the force is still quite female and shall be so for the foreseeable future. Great if one likes that sort of thing. She's not going anywhere.
