Star Wars fans are insatiable. You could give them a free buffet of prime ribs and they’d complain there aren’t enough napkins and they’d never eat there again.

I thought this episode was a fun chapter that was absolutely in the spirit of the early Season 1 & 2 “sidequest” episodes. Simple, creative, and straightforward with just enough nuggets of characters and story growth to step back and see how far some characters have grown.

It wasn’t “dumb” or “stupid”. It was just fun and simple.

… kind of like how most of us fell in love with Star Wars in the first place.

Mandalore will finally be liberated from the shadow of the Imperial. Ending scene Bo's riding the Mythosaur together with the new love of her life, the Armorer, and then they kiss...*end season 3.
At this rate I would not be surprised if it turns out to be true

That's not how it works. By your narrow definition Lucasfilm being "Disney" would also be responsible for the Theme Parks, Cruise ships, Disney+ etc, etc. Lucasfilm is a division of Disney yes, but Disney has nothing to do with the product Lucasfilms makes other than some 50,000 feet overhead guidance. They DO NOT have anything to do with what props are used when and in what order, that is some in some weeds grunt work that is all Lucasfilms.
You seem to miss my point:

Yes, prop department at lucasfilm are the ones who hand out blasters, they are employed by disney lucasfilm, lucasfilm is disney by owned, disney is shorthand for all current era Lucasfilm to differenciate from Lucas era Lucasfilm. When disney took over story group was formed/expanded in order to keep things uniform and avoid mistakes/retcons, in the time since there have been multiple inconsistencies and retcons from the major (Kanans order 66 scenes or Rey becoming the chosen one instead of Anakin) to the minor (incorrect blasters).

Never did I say that Disney execs handed out props. I did respond that Disney execs are not hands off in regard to star wars in general when someone said they have nothing to do with how lucasfilm is run. Not the same thing. Reading comprehension goes a long way.

For now I'll stand by that I don't think it's "simple" at all tho not sure what that means, really.
In theory, a romance story is simple. Classic hero journeys could be described as simple. Everything is simple if u break it down enough.

ANYWAY I still think that some of the negativity revolves around "are we there yet" e.g. the reason so many movies are 90 minutes (besides theater owners wanting to make more money from snacks and overturn audiences) and why there's so little good world building and sloppiness in media these days. (For example it will always bug me that when the aliens hit NY in IW, while Tony Stark and co. were taking on Ebony Maw, there were no morons hanging out of the windows with cell phones.:google)

I'm finding plenty of complexity but already posted that - but hafta say, am shocked, shocked I tell you😁, that a relative newcomer such as myself to SW immersion is having more fun, seemingly, than uber SW fans. Like, the bird and bird chicks possibly being the supposed extinct shriek-hawks that are the signet worn by DeathWatch, so how cool is that little detail?

I thought Coruscant looked beautiful, even if it's not my favorite location thanks to having seen it so often. I want a whole desk of those rock crabs. And I'm pretty sure Favreau isn't an idiot😁, being a veteran of successful comic book movies so he knows how to build a story.

Nah, I can tolerate a certain amount of suspension of disbelief but at some point I'm like, that's enough. And in SW the suspension of disbelief needed is - a lot to begin with.

Its not an issue I care enough about to argue about, it just struck me as odd. As if I'd suddenly decided to keep three elephants in my backyard. Could I do that? Maybe... it would cost a fortune tho.
But, but, IMO the show makes a point that these dragons/shriek-hawks/raptors are up high, difficult to get to. That's different than being able to fish stuff out of the lake, collect those poor little rock crabs for a seafood boil, or just roam around the planet shooting some hapless giant pig or whatever that thing was in TFA who gave Finn such a hard time.

I was just happy I wasn't left with an image of 3 chicks literally starving to death under a broiling sun. It wasn't their fault Mom had been feeding them Mandalorians. :monkey3 It's like, when Mom put disgusting creamed corn on the plate, I ate it, or else.:lol

Actually completely disagree, i think where you said that impatience with Mando having no real direction is the reason why movies are short and dumb is all back to front. Mando having no real direction so far is the result of dumbing down of general audience. People see space battle, dragons, cool armour and go "whoaaaaa" and they enjoy the episodic storytelling because they lack the patience for a long well thought out story that doesn't have explosion every week (look how many said "Andor is sooo boooring"

It isn't "are we there yet"? And more "what was the point of that thing that makes no sense and contributes nothing"?

I'd planned on waiting for the end of season to watch these but Mrs Scout wanted to watch it🤷
So here I am.
Episode 4 of the Bo-Katan and Simple Din show.
It was OK. Entertaining enough. Some oddities as already mentioned, like shooting at random nothingness over the lake. Surely they'd want to shoot at actual targets?
I laughed for a good long while at the going off to eat alone thing. Hilarious. This never take your helmet off rule is just dumb.
Running out of jetpack fuel. Never come up before so it felt a bit off but to be fair, it's perfectly reasonable that their jet packs don't have infinite fuel. I guess its just because it's never come up before and it didn't look like they were flying for that long.
I don't care about the PT stuff as much as others but I quite enjoyed the escape Coruscant scene.
It was nice seeing Ahmed Best get an appearance.
I'm not sure why but watching the Naboo guard take one for the team made me laugh.
So yeah, no major issues.
On one hand, I'm still frustrated by the short runtime but on the other, do we want these sort of episodes to be any longer? These little adventure episodes might actually work best with a short runtime.
My only concern is that we're half way through. We don't have a villain, we don't have much of idea where its going and Mandos goals at this point are achieved. Hang out with the cult, train Grogu, get saved by Bo-Katan if anything goes wrong.
Of course there's still 4 more episodes to go and they could squeeze a fair bit in but I'd feel better if the season was a couple of episodes or so longer.

Bo will be the one to ride the mythosaur, not Mando... :gah:

I’ve always said this is where Dave wanted Bo to be. Her arc is just basically a 360 to have her end up where he finished her in Rebels. He just needed to give her an arc to make it feel earned.

But yeah, this was always his endgame for her character.

Comprehension isn’t the problem. The problem is your memory.

You said it was Disney.

Does Disney even know the difference when handing out props??
A couple times.
Lucasfilm is now owned by Disney and has different leadership from the Lucas era... and Iger et al had direct involvement in the past soooooooo.... yes, Disney.
And you even said Iger had direct involvement, when discussing the gun continuity issue. While you didn’t say they handed out the props you certainly are inferring that they are to blame and claim they have a hand in it. When they clearly don’t. That is a Lucasfilm area of responsibility.

I get you want to blame the big bad entity but like I said that’s not how it works. Disney isn’t that in the weeds when it comes to what props to use.
As you already admitted Lucasfilm is at fault for the gun and continuity errors. So I’m not sure why you are even continuing to debate at this point.

But, but, I don't think that is what is happening. It's not a great example because events were moving fast, but consider IW. In theory, you had a scattered group of characters doing their thing, living their lives, that needed to be brought together - fairly fast, since it's a film; and even then IMO IW/EG for me weren't long enough.

Because there were characters I would have wanted more of - like how BW hooks up with Cap, maybe some scenes of that group fighting terrorists (like the comics). I didn't need to see Bucky trucking feed to the goats, but at some point a conversation with T'challa would have been nice. Not to mention the IMO blip Wakanda battle.

Thanks to being a series F&F have the leisure to flesh the characters, cultures, relationships out. Like, for me, one of the best things about Winter Soldier are the conversations between Cap and Nat - in the car, at Falcon's house. The scenes aren't critical to the story, but it's like painting without using black (which adds richness to all colors). IMO Favreau and Filoni are laying pieces out, and adding details.

So when the time comes for pivotal events, there's a reason Paz Vizla has Mando's back, after challenging him to a potentially deadly duel. There's a reason Grogu is more confident openly using his abilities to fight with (which he probably is gonna need). There's a reason Bo-katan is pretty conflicted about wanting the Darksaber and ruling Mandalore (I assume there will be more of that). Not to mention, Din D'jarin is "just a guy" and as characters go, IMO he could use a bit of a break. 😁

And for me, I enjoy wandering around the SW universe like in Rebels. New planets, new creatures, new characters. Knowing F&F have some license to do that. (One of the biggest failings in the ST was the scattershot Macguffin approach, like with that Sith knife. Someone didn't think that one through, including the effects of wave erosion on fallen debris:lol.) IMO one of the best things about TLJ - whether people like it or not - is Luke explaining about the Sith growing under the nose of the Jedi. If nothing else, TLJ did let scenes breathe.

So no, I disagree that all of this is happening for nothing. S1 and S2 could be more or less linear, but the universe has opened up, to the larger picture of the fall of the Mandalorians (which for me is awesome), and the Empire remnants gathering in different corners of the universe. I'm good for the ride. Also, I still want some rock crabs.:bunnydanc

What if it's Grogu, :lol he's being shown to have an affinity with animals. (if he's not trying to eat them) He can likley tame them. :wink1:

And yes these shows are Disney and the Disney assembled story group, they hire who and what is created without Lucas input, Lucasfilm the independent entity as it once was, does not exist. There is no comparison. It is now only a brand-name, enirely under Disney control. These TV shows are Disney manufactured product.

No i didn't, please read allbthe comments again.

I provided you the quotes where you said it concerning the props.
I said Disney in general (catchall term since all lucasfilm staff are disney employees) never did i say execs hand out props. Stop strawmanning dude

Also i did not say Iger had involvement with gun issue, i said he has been involved with how lucasfilm is run in response to comment saying disney has nowt to do with Lucasfilm running. Reading comprehension.

In the post you made where you named Iger specifically you also said they had day to day involvement in the past. Since the conversation was about the props you did infer that the prop error was the fault of Iger and the board.

There is no strawmanning going on. I’m simply using the words you typed and showing the error you made concerning fault. Since you already admitted it’s Lucasfilms fault I don’t know why you are still arguing.

If you want to back pedal now and claim you meant Disney as a catch all name that’s fine, but that is certainly not what you were saying when you originally posted.

Those robes are so cool, come on Hot Toys.
Two light up lightsabers Day One PO. 😁

Hot Toys would not even make one Cassian Andor, and y'all think we might get this guy. Smh lol

An excuse to get another Baby Yoda and pram? HT is melting the environmentally dubious plastic for the molds already.

Not backpeddling, that quote was responding specifically this:

"No they don’t. Because they have nothing to do with it. It’s all Lucasfilm’s fault" i was stating that Luxasfilm IS owned and run by Disney. Even to the point that Bob Iger made descisions on Star Wars projects (demonstrating that Lucasfilm is a part of Disney, not a separate entity). Please do not cherry pick, remove context or strawman my arguments.
