1/4 Hot Toys - QS019 - The Dark Knight Trilogy - Batman Collectible Figure

Stock QS019 vs my custom QS001

I upgraded a QS019 with my parts and it’s now my main display piece. Overall not a ton of changes but it seems here’s what’s new:
- Revised paint apps, they’re more similar to whats on the 1:4 Begins with very fine sprays of different shades, it’s a definite improvement on the Bruce sculpt. I’m not sure if I prefer chins more yet or not
- The mesh undersuit seems blacker than the QS001 I had on display
- The body proportions seem a bit better around the waist
- The new display base is slightly less frustrating to pose the figure on and looks way cooler
- The bust for displaying another sculpt is fantastic

Looks great. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Soooo OATY, you got a spare stock empty cowl and extra spare stock body lying around? Papa wants to build a Hong Kong Bruce with his cape pack, sticky bomb gun and Bruce Wayne head.

Great pics and ho ho my - seeing it displayed on that base

Compared to the actual suit, the torso improvements help slightly getting rid of the lumpier QS01 torso. They even shortened the gap between the armor plates along his side, which is nice. But it almost makes his waist a little too narrow towards his hips. His bicep pads and straps look completely repositioned too.

I’ve gotta say after some reflection, there’s nothing that’s a clear cut improvement in my mind. I don’t think it’s taken any steps back, but I think the things that are altered are trade offs.

The torso looks a bit more trim and organized but also a bit too thin. The smaller space between the side armor makes a bigger gap at the top.

The Biceps sit more flush but they also seem rotated forward too much. This might be fixable with futzing I haven’t tried.

The undersuit is darker, but is that accurate? I kind of prefer how the QS001 looks like a uniform charcoal between the plates and undersuit. It captures what I loved about the screen used suit in that the whole body and cowl reads grey compared to the jet black cape.

The chin paint is more technical, but maybe a bit too reddish. I’m honestly on the fence with the chins. I think the olive skin tone of the QS001 plates better captures Bale’s complexion but the fine details of the new chins are nice. I think I’m glad I can have both in my collection because I think they both look great.

The revised paint on the Bale sculpt is definitely better IMO but not so much so that I’d upgrade for it.

The omission of the talking expression for the cowl is the only objective step backwards this release took.

Overall, if you don’t have a 1:4 Batman and want one this is a great reissue with some really cool new accessories. IMO it’s still the best stock representation of this character in any format. I prefer the colors and price over the JND with its cartoon colored eyes and similar cowl inaccuracies for $3K+.

Customized I think this or the QS001 are pretty much perfect. Here’s some more pics comparing the stock sculpt and my custom.

Would anyone know if this was originally slated as a March release from sideshow? I pre ordered this & im looking to cancel now but I’m pretty sure it was slated as a March releases so if I wait til April I should receive my nrd back?

If you click cancel on the order page a pop up will tell you if your nrd is refundable before you confirm the cancel.

Cutting costs where they can where it won't affect figure production quality. Happening across all industries so I am not too surprised.

This aspect was a big letdown. I think I’ll combine all the best aspects of the QS001, QS019, and my custom work and put them in my QS001 boxes to keep as my ultimate “mint” copy. The shipper being the box just feels wrong.

That’s how the recent Tumbler was too.

They’re cheaping out.

I shouldn't support hot toys when they do sh1t like this but ...I do need a brand new quarter scale bats

The right arm on my QS001 is loose (it won’t stay out sideways but will stay out forward). I tried to “fix” it but didn’t work. I kinda want this just so I have a fresh one. If it goes on sale I’ll pick it up.

I'll give some respect to Justin for being about as negative on the box situation as I've heard him be on anything in quite a while. Deservedly so. Especially when that slip on top when you open the shipper looks like it could be a great design for a full art box anyway! I was wondering why Sideshow didn't show the box in their unboxing, now I know.

Little disappointed in the hollow bust but that probably won't matter much when its just on the shelf next to the figure- which does look fantastic.

I can fix that, I’ve done it on two different copies and they never re-broke.

The box does suck but the top insert makes a great backdrop lol.

So... They just didn't deliver one of the faceplates that was advertised... And it's the best one?

I missed this figure the first time around, and was excited to be able to get it, but Jesus, they are really pushing it.

It was never in the advertising. I think we all hoped they just forgot to include it for promos.
