FC are far more stylish and fit well with Treks greatest storyline...the Dominion War
They’re the most realistic for a semi-military organization, I like the look personally right up there with the nostalgic TNG uniforms.

Those colors still worry me a lot. I'm sure we'll see an update at some point that looks great.
...And he's still waiting for his actual boots. They can't just use those same Exo-boots that they've used on several characters already. ;)

Edit: Just saw the post that had that pic. He says that first proto usually has funky colors. But doesn't specify what stage this pic is at. Mentions that the shoes are the wrong color, but nothing about how they are completely the wrong kind of footwear. I'm sure it'll be fine. :)

Yeah no kidding. Nanjin's been pretty good with the costume colors so far, but this one seems really far off from the more muted brown color we saw on screen. And I can only hope the final will be closer to this.

Yea, those colours are well off and they are not even close to set accurate. The photo I’ve attached is the actual costume worn on the show, which I saw in person at Destination Star Trek a couple of years ago. I think the prototype also looks a bit too baggy. Hopefully it’s a very early stage.

There’s no way they would release it with those colours, if you could can say one thing about Exo-6, it’s their attention to uniform detail.

There are outliers that can be slightly concerning though. Like when they left off Archer's bicep zipper until someone pointed it out. As long as the final products are all as accurate as can be expected I'm happy.

Missing a zipper and being off in color is two different things. With how he was with Admiral Kirk's uniform, and how hes been talking about screen accurate vs in person accurate, I would think that would be enough evidence that he will get Odo's outfit color right.

It seems safe to assume this is an early stage

Yeah but DS9 had them first. They were so fresh after TNG.

This is a really important point that people seem to forget. The entire reason Voyager made sense design-wise to use those uniforms was exactly because DS9 was using them. To have Starfleet alone out in the Delta quadrant, but to visually tie them into Starfleet, they dressed like the Trek counterparts everyone was familiar with. Whatever uniform DS9 was wearing at the time would have been what they put Voyager in. Even the change further illustrates the isolation of Voyager in the Delta quadrant as they are ‘left behind’ design-wise as the Alpha quadrant carries on.

DS9 also had more appearances in that uniform than the FC versions. They also had more appearances in that uniform than some other Treks even had episodes. They are the design element and lynchpin that ties together every 90s Trek - TNG -> DS9 early season -> Voyager -> TNG movies -> DS9 late seasons. To not do them ignores telling the design story of how 90s Trek uniforms progressed both in-universe and in the real world’s design production. To ignore they exist is to basically violate every notion of a ‘museum.’

Well the uniforms and that era of Trek are being represented in the "museum", just with VOY instead of DS9.

There are lots of good arguments for using either uniform, but with the biggest storyline of the series being the Dominion War, I think Nanjin made the right call to go with the FC uniforms and how the crew looked throughout all of that.

Agreed. They also turn up randomly on various crew in Generations so that also ties them all together nicely too - excluding Picard turning up in Emissary of course.

I’ve always found the uniform change/random confusing in Generations. I get it, everyone was changing for the new look so it was filtering through - but considering replicator technology the entire crew could have changed uniform all at once on a date Picard set.
Not eventually as in the real world waiting for the uniform supplies to arrive in waves…
Is a nit-pick I know but it still irritates me to this day, never mind the film itself! I still love it though, warts and all.
