They knew from the start this wasn't a winner. I believe this is the lowest priced figure from the line.

Go DiD! still not the best head sculpt but major improvement they even added the netting to the helmet. Good on them for listening and trying to improve it, the best course of action will still be to combine both facepool and DiD figures for a good Upham.

The helmet of A80156 WWII US 29th Infantry Technician - Corporal Upham is with net cover. Please note.
Please check here for more info about the figure.

I'm all for improvements and have enjoyed my DID purchases, but how do you miss the netting on the helmet?
Good on them in their attempt to fix the sculpt with paint, but it should have been better from the get go. Ah, first world problems.

I’m still wondering if he’s skinny enough lol. Jeremy Davies was/is a damn twig. It almost seems like DID’s version is still too ‘bulky’ for the character, but I dunno.

I think even more important is that the head sculpt doesn't look like Jeremy Davies. If DiD had nailed that sculpt, it would have helped overlook some of the other shortcomings.

Most of my "Saving Private Ryan" figures ended up being from DiD but Upham (and so far) Medic Wade are definitely nicer from FacePool.

Yeah I’ve tried keeping my SPR collection to just DiD, as I’ve been more satisfied with them overall, but I’ve been chewing on whether I want this one or facepool. But between the size (still conflicted lol) and likeness, I may have to forego this version of Upham, and just see how the FP version fits in.

I bought the FP Upham based on the proto and was very disappointed in the production piece. As with some of you, my SPR collection consists mainly of DID. Upham, at this point, does not look like an improvement over FP. I'll pick up the sculpt if it turns out better in production. I highly doubt it. Horvath turned out exactly as advertised. FP hasn't tackled Horvath. I hope they do. I'll wait on Wade at this point. The positive is that we have options. Never thought I'd see that for SPR.

His head looks pretty big at the end shot with the rest of the figures, I think he actually looks better with out the helmet than he does with it on, I'm sure I can make it look good enough for my display though we'll see when he comes.

The sculpt looks better than FP's. Doesn't look exactly like Davies, but better. May pick it up once parted out.

I'm sticking with my Facepool Upham. It isn't a home-run but definitely recognizable. DiD's sculpt looks absolutely nothing like Davies. Perhaps the unkempt hair on the forehead is ok but I would never recognize the sculpt if dressed differently. I was hoping that DiD would have tweaked if not re-sculpted it but unfortunately they missed an opportunity to win the battle here.

Do you have any pictures of your Upham fully setup?

I got charged at timewalker and it's imminent arrival for March 5th, I'll post pics when I get him, like all the DiD SPR figures you really have to slant and angle the helmets properly to get a good likeness and I think this Upham figure will benefit from it the most.

Looking forward to your pics and if the head sculpt is better in hand.

I'm curious to see if they used a thinner body to replicate his skinnier look. (most likely not...)

I got little upham.

I'm overall very happy with it likeness came out better in person with futzing of the helmet and natural lighting but it's still not perfect maybe if the face was a tad bit narrower/slimmer.

The body is the shortest of the group and he is slimmer all around and it's very noticable so they did a decent job with proportions.

I did add the missing parts that DiD decided not to include as this is I think the most lazy release of the series and it showed in their prototype pictures and parts included, they should have gave him the little scope he uses.

Just one more with Medic wade and I'm done with this line and they are going out of the detolf and onto a shelf where they can be lined up.
