The Tatooine scene had me worried that season 3 was going to be BoBF 1.5 Every sentence from what’s-her-character’s-name is either silly/goofy or a stupid joke. I hate Amy Sedaris’ character.

Thankfully the rest of the episode was awesome.
They actually made out her out to be quite the crook in this episode.

Yes, she has a nice little business arrangement with the Jawas lol. I thought it made perfect sense that she'd be morally flexible in that respect - it's probably the only way to survive in that place. Plus fleecing ignorant tourists is a time honored tradition. :lol

I don't know if it's hand-waving, but I distinctly got the impression that the first thing that happened when Mando was injected was total body paralysis. He would still need to move something in order to set off the whistling birds or flamethrower or grapple cord, but he couldn't cause he was totally incapacitated. That explanation worked for me.

Then the eyeball thing started to drain his blood. Gross. That eyeball was a cool effect but didn't match anything we've ever seen in SW so far.
I actually liked the eyeball mech. Didn't upset the SW aesthetic i.m.o. Which is more than can be said about certain other design choices this season...

Bo calling Din Grogu’s Dad was great.

I don’t know where this is going. I thought the whole “bathe in the waters” plot would take up all season 3, but we knocked it out in two episodes.

The mech made me think of this instantly

And Mandalore looked like New Krypton

I wonder if Favareu is a fan of SR

One more thing, I dont like how now, every. Last. Thing. has to be explained aloud to Grogu, so that we will all Make Sure We Got It.

"Behold, Grogu. First, we will go here and then we will go there. To do that, we will use these maps. Maps are important so that one is never lost. In all the history of the galaxy, only Mandalorians have this knowledge of not getting lost. Many will be the dangers along the way, but we will use this tool and that one to overcome. Be not afraid, for that is not the Mandalorian Way." etc etc ad nauseum SHUT UP MANDO

Grogu had best get with those Jedi Mind Tricks on the double. He'll be needing to shut Din up.
I can understand why they are doing it. First it contrasts with Mando’s “follow me and stay out of trouble” approach of the first 2 seasons, when his only goal was keeping Grogu alive long enough to hand him off to “his people”. But now Mando has fully embraced that HE is Grogu’s “people,” so he is taking an active role in educating him.

Second, they had to set up how Grogu knew where to tell R5 where to go. “Let me teach you about maps” is a flimsy pretext for pointing out Bo’s location to Grogu, but it’s better than nothing.

This episode was more enjoyable than the first but I miss the “adventures of week” approach of the previous seasons. Smaller quests in service of the main quest. By this point in season 2 we had the Krayt dragon episode and the spider monster episode (which I loved). So far it feels much less episodic.

Yeah I do think using Mando teaching Grogu basic stuff for exposition works here and is a nice contrast to how he was in S1 and 2. Grogu is now a Foundling under his care and tutelage. It makes sense he'd be teaching Grogu. It reminds me of Jango and young Boba.

So you're saying Mando is a bad teacher...

SW is puzzling isn’t it…if a Mando helmet or Bo’s helmet could lift off easily , yet she can burrow all the way down deep in the water without getting water underneath  must be that compression option Dinn told Grogu about

That is the thing that irritates me. Sound of helmet pressurising but no sort of seal in sight....
If you watch the scene closely …Dinn sinks , Bo snaps on the helmet in a second and dives in

Just goes to my theory how Rey can wear desert robes and not catch hypothermia from hideous weather conditions

for those who think Rey had the Force shielding her from dangerous weather ..Han said it best…

Did they though? I'm curious what they do now with the Mythosaur reveal. As Din definitely lost consciousness underwater (as evidenced by Bo-Katan's having to lug his inert body up to the surface), I'm thinking that only B-K actually saw it down there. Does she keep that info to herself for now? Somehow I don't see her doing a complete 180 and zooming off to (a) bear witness of its existence & Din's redemption to The Armorer and (b) swearing a newfound allegiance to the Children of the Watch. :lol
Maybe Grogu has a part to play here? One would think he could sense the Mythosaur's presence through the Force. A living creature that big should be setting off alarm bells in his little green head. Maybe he'll be like The Will's cat in Saga, and when B-K tells Din that there was nothing in the water Grogu's first spoken word will be
Well if something grabbed me and was yanking me so fast I was drowning before I could respond, I'd remember it. Also maybe it gets all mystical (like when the xenomorph didn't eat Ripley) coz the Mythosaur feels that Din is the saber holder etc. or a real good guy/future king and lets him go, and lets him be saved instead of just chomping Din for a snack.

And in theory Bo would have to wonder why she didn't get eaten either. Plus, yeah, Grogu since he already could put the Rancour to sleep, so maybe/probably he'll have a hand in taming the Mythosaur.

If any of that is true, kudos to Favreau as a story teller :clap for putting building blocks in place, all along. Same as he did building Tony Stark's mythos. Also hopefully Bo seeing that life survived and Din's respect for the creed is jump starting her out of her indifference.

Guess I'll start saving for that 1/6 scale Mythosaur which will cost Hulkbuster dollars$$$ and be for the crazed HT connoisseur. Better have light-up effects and a Mando fig thrown in.:monkey3:lol

I liked this last episode.

Did it make sense all the time? No.

But it had a lot of Mando goodness.

Amazing vistas and a great new world.

Underwater jetpack was cool. I still don't get how you steer, but it looked awesome.

The robot inside a robot was great! Love this new one-eyed villain. Glad they didn't try to make some "point" -- like Bo-Katan discovering it is what has become of her father. Just a nasty bad guy, who does nasty things, has a good fight, and is killed.

A little too reliant on Grogu. Following him to Bo, and then all the way back seemed like a time-waster. Figured they'd cut back to Mando... but nope. Just repeat the same trek, same beasties in the dark, etc.

Still, one of the better episodes I've seen of Mando. Not as good as Bill Burr and the train episode of course, but entertaining visually.

Yeah, I'm sure he knows something big grabbed him but as they (purposely, I think) only revealed the Mythosaur from B-K's perspective we're left guessing at this point. Din did go in the water without his jetpack, so unless he was planning on just wading in the kid's end of the pool that was a rather large leap of faith. He also left his weapons behind (Darksaber included), so counting on B-K to save him yet again was an even bigger leap of faith lol...

Judging by the size of its horns and eye, that Mythosaur would dwarf Mando's N-1 Starfighter. As that ship is about 6' long in 1/6 scale, I don't think anyone will be making a 1/6 Mythosaur anytime soon. :lol

I think overall it was OK. Bit better than the first episode but still, it was like the middling episodes of previous seasons.
I liked the Bo stuff. She's so much more competent than Din. Saved his silly arse twice in that episode. Look forward to seeing more of her.
Curious if she'll travel with Din. If she'll meet the Children of the Watch weirdos. Maybe Bo and Armorer know each other? Could be some character drama there. Or what does she think of Paz Vizla? How closely related is he to Pre Vizla? Father and son?
Liked the cyborg thing. On one hand, I like that we're left to piece together on our own what I was and what it was doing there but on thd other hand, shame we didn't get to explore it more.
Not sure about the Morloks though. At least Bo explained where they came from.
Gave me this idea that everyone lived in the huge dome city (Sundari?) and everything outside that was a Judge Dredd style Cursed Earth.
Bit surprised the living waters of Mandalore was resolved so quickly. Surprised they resolved the droid issue so quickly too.
I was expecting this episode to be about finding parts to fix that IG droid (that was definitely blown to pieces. This is some TROS Deathstar wreckage ****) and the living water stuff would take a big chunk of the season (many side quests and guest stars along the way).
So felt a bit rushed but on the other hand, opens the rest of the season up. Now that initial mission is done, they've got 6 more episodes to play with. Makes it a bit more interesting.
Hopefully introduce a bigger story, one that we follow episode to episode rather than a bunch of adventure of the week side quests.
Sure put in 1 or 2 more adventure episodes in but it'd be nice if the bulk of the rest of the episodes told a proper overarching story.
This isn't a 20+ episode long show. Those shows were mostly adventure of the week episodes bookended by main story episodes (sometimes a big 2 parter halfway through). That OK, they have to fill out 20+ episodes.
This is an 8 episode season. We've done the side quest/adventure of the week stuff for 2 seasons.
Now Grogu has been resolved, in that he's officially Din's foundling son, now he's done the living water thing, now Bo is all chummy with him, the story needs a new plot line, a new story goal.
Can we have a season of Mando that tells its story over the next 6 episodes please? Enough side quests and filler like episodes.
Well it'd be nice.
If not, a fun adventure of the week isn't the end of the world.

Well if something grabbed me and was yanking me so fast I was drowning before I could respond, I'd remember it...

At first, when he suddenly falls under and dissapears, I thought what had happened was, he waded out into the waters, finding it shallow, then took one more step and found it suddenly drops off into the depths, like a cliff under water.
Reminded me of this...

Then when Bo jumps in, she's straight into the depths because there is a big sudden drop off after the shallows.
Was laughing my arse off.
