So perhaps the best way to do the wheels is put the Delorean on it's roof (on a soft carpet or something) and push the wheels out from the inside rim of the wheel.

Could that work ?

Just trying to think of an easier way than trying to grip the wheels from the outside.

I hadn't noticed the speckling on the undercarriage until this video, matching what we see on the tires. I'm about 95% sure that's over-spray and not some weird "weathering" effect some have said was done on purpose. Considering how much costs have gone up in general (inflation, etc), the late hover changes and how they've skimped on things like the box, I can't imagine they'd spend more time/effort to add anything to already good looking parts.

If anyone out there has theirs already and is willing to try it, a Scotchbrite pad and some rubbing alcohol should remove over-spray from the tires just as it does on real cars. Perhaps try it on the inside tire just in case it affects the plastic paint finish around the hub. I'd love to see if it comes off...I bet it will.

Hope someone can try this to see if it will clean all that paint off the tires because I think that looks awful.

If we could find multiple ways to remove the heavy weathering on Chrome Mando, I'm sure there's something out there that will work on this.
If you or anyone comes up with a good solution for this please post it here because that's the first thing I plan on addressing when mine comes in. (y)

Jeeezzzzz, I'm just catching up with these wheel issues, not ideal.

Mine's due to ship to the UK from Sideshow at some point soon & I'm pretty apprehensive to be honest.

It's such a dreadful design flaw. I have the Part 1 car & while it's certainly not heavy, it's not super-light either. The way the wheel mechanism has been designed means you're taking your chances either way. If you manage to extend & flip the wheels successfully, you're probably not going to want to run the risk of flipping them back, then the alternative is allowing the model to rest on the tyres which is prolonged stress on exactly the same already weak area.

I would put money on the fact that a few years down the line, cracks will start to develop. Sincerely hope this isn't the case but damn, this is shoddy.

Looks too uniform to be overspray. Overspray would be on some pieces and not on others.
That speckling looks way too evenly applied to be overspray. And overspray from what exactly? It's lighter in color than anything else on the car from what I can see.

We saw some speckling on the tires at secret base as well, in more of a brown color, so I'm thinking the factory must have simply chosen the wrong color for their weathering. Which is something else that may get corrected in a later batch.

It may look uniform in the video I linked but in others there's much less of it. There's also claims of no speckles on some users tires, exposing even more inconsistencies. Additionally, it seems like a rather odd decision to weather the tires of all things. To actually take the rubber, prep it and spray it with anything (wrong color or not) seems strange to me but I admit I haven't had many road vehicles in my collection.

I suppose I'm a bit more receptive to it being intentional but if that's the case, it's shaken my view of HT and my purchase. Maybe I just don't want to believe it...

How many broken units are we talking about? Facts, not "I heard ..." I know Danoby2's had two broken wheels. How many more? I'm international as well. I don't want to deal with shoddy ****.

Doc Smizzle's review here also shows you've got to pull the wheels all the way out. Further than you think on the front wheels, until that final click.

@ about the 37min mark.

That's what I thought. You need that click at the end to show they are extended enough.
There are two things that are maybe happening here. There's a flaw in the design or it is being used incorrectly.

The instructions are absolutely terrible either way.

Its both

The QC issues don’t surprise me. My part 1 arrived with a loose passenger seat that damaged the seat and interior. After a quick inspection of the entire car the only thing I realised was how cheaply it was built. I promptly returned it and got a full refund.

Did some of yours snap even though you pulled it out far enough?
Someone got the delorean broken before it was even out of the box Screenshot_2023-03-05-18-37-42-53_a23b203fd3aafc6dcb84e438dda678b6.jpg

I haven't had any issues with the wheels, but one of the hinges on the hood of my Delorean arrived broken. That means that the hood can't stay in the up position. Since I can still open it to turn on the lights, it's not a huge deal...but we still deserve better for $800. I contacted Sideshow hoping for a new hood, but they can't part that piece out for some reason. So I was given the choice of a full exchange or store credit. Since I didn't want to bother packing it all up, I took the credit.

I'm happy with how it looks on display, but there are definite QC issues with this thing. Hot Toys quality continues to move in the opposite direction of their pricing.

Well finally got mine out- it’s fine. I lay it down upside down on a soft rug to do the wheels.

Jeez, I was expecting there to be an issue with the electronics in this thing, given all the extra lights added into it, not with things like the wheels, paint, and freakin seats.
