Pretty good movie to my 'never really that critical and easily amused' self. It was a little clunky in a few places. Everything being CGI/in the volume was a little weak and immersion breaking but I know they are on limited time to make these and CGI artists aren't wanting to work with Marvel. Some of the jokes didn't land, and the first end credits scene was pretty campy.

Honestly though, those were kind of little things but my one singular complaint of the movie was how it ended. Kang is being talked up as this big powerhouse in every show/movie but then there isn't any follow through, I thought for sure he'd win or even kill a few protagonists as they tried to escape leaving him behind or something, but it mostly wraps up all nicely in a bow. They aren't giving us enough depth and information about the character, he's just kind of a generic evil guy who destroys things. Also he had arm lasers that were disintegrating creatures and mega telekinesis powers until they decided he'd just... Not do that. So that bummed me out. I like a good threat.

I don't think this deserved a 50 or whatever score it got. It's a fun movie and didn't make me feel dumb like Love and Thunder.

Positives: Majors was incredible, he was the highlight of the movie for sure. Everyone else was solid, I didn't mind the actress playing Cassie like some people. A handful of the jokes did get a laugh out of me. The quantum realm and creatures in it were fun and different. No one is bringing her up but the buff female resistance leader was pretty great in her action scenes and I thought she was pretty badass for not having a lot of depth to her character. Of course my favorite of the night though...

Cassie: Who's coming?
Kang: Me!!
... A lot of me.
Yes, his conveniently NOT using his energy beams to disintegrate Scott, Hope or Cassie did stand out to me as well, but then he needed Pym tech to escape the QR so maybe he didn't want to kill them just in case his Plan A was thwarted and he had to resort to a Plan B. It's a rather flimsy excuse but that's what I'm going with for now. :lol

I agree that everyone in the main cast turned in solid performances, although ironically (for a character whose name is in the movie's title) it seemed like Hope/Wasp had the least to do. She has that big heroine bit at the very end but otherwise not so much.

Not a fan of Ant-Man and the first movie I legit fell asleep. But we needed to see something this weekend and Ant-Man was picked. Thought the flick was a good watch, better than the garbage Wakanda and Doctor Strange.

The worst things about it was the daughter, she is just cringe and the activism stuff ugggg. Ant-Man constantly saying her name. And Evangeline Lilly's hair. WTF. She looked horrible with that haircut.

Kang for the most part was good. LOL at being pretty much taken out by Ant-Man in a fist fight. Bigger threat than Thanos :ROFLMAO:

By the way, when did this Scott guy become Ant-Man? Growing up it was Hank Pym.

Anyway DC better rebound because MCU is stale......

I guess you really DID sleep through the first Ant-Man film. :lol

Ya know, after watching this yesterday (and almost considering waiting for Disney+) I can safely say I enjoyed it well enough. All of it is more silly than serious but that’s to be expected with time traveling villains and Ant People.

I wasn’t buying into the hype/narrative of Rotten Tomatoes scores or Twitter discussions, etc, as I think that’s a symptom of people not being able to “unplug”, so to speak. It’s either watch the movie …or don’t…or just don’t worry about 🤷🏾‍♂️

Kang could be a formidable villain going forward if the MCU wants him to be, and they do need meaty villains that aren’t just a “one and done”.

I agree -- but they need both. They need a good villain for each film that can be defeated (and not tuned into a hero later)... but they also need that over-arching villain laying plans behind the scenes (yes, much like Thanos) to give a "Phase" its direction and set up the end-goal. I would like to see such a villain do more than Thanos did leading up to IW/EG but not at the expense of the Ronan/Yellowjacket/Crossbones/Red Skull/etc that each films really needs.

Red Skull and Yellowjacket would have been great recurring villains/plotters & schemers.

Yellowjacket in particular -- difficult to catch. And Red Skull ... could have retreated to a behind the scenes role and given the heroes someone to hunt.

Oh yeah, I agree, for every Thanos you need a Hobgoblin and someone to tow the space in between. Crossbones was definitely one that could’ve played the recurring henchman/gun for hire role, especially with “CA: NWO” coming up.

Does anyone remember them using Graviton on “Agents of SHIELD”? Absorbing Man was another one used on TV that could’ve benefited from a big screen adaptation.

I don;t even understand why Red Skull is the ghost guardian of the soul stone -- is that a thing? A job?

It would make more sense to have the ghost be the last soul that died to pass on the stone. So, it would have been Gamora... and then now, Black Widow would be the ghost guardian.

I guess the Tesseract IMMEDIATELY transported him to Voromir when he held it 😄. No explanation, no “What have you been up to?”, no nothing 😬

Yep. Strange. If its a punishment, for what? Being a lesser bad guy who mostly killed Nazi officers on a little blue planet that hardly matters in the multiverse? That's a pretty big promotion, to now guard the soul stone.

Anyway, you'd think Thanos would look him up -- he could have been Thanos' navigator of Earth -- like Hackman's Lex Luthur -- all he wants is Australia.

He got retconned badly because of Hugo Weaving not coming back to the role, which sucks because it would had been awesome to see him reunite with CAP haha

It's not a great movie, but it's pretty decent. MODOK is a character imo that probably was never going to translate well to the big-screen, but I'm atleast glad they acknowledged how ridiculous it was. As others have said, Kang was awesome(and played SO much better than how He Who Remains was.)

Hank rolling up with the ants at the end was badass af. Seeing the OG Ant-Man stare down Kang as his ants swarm him was incredibly satisfying. Honestly would love a Michael Douglas Hot Toy to be made.

My biggest headscratcher is that people seem to be comparing this film (and Kang) to Infinity War/Endgame & Thanos, when the more apt comparison should be with Avengers 1. By the time we got to IW/EG, we'd gotten to know Thanos over 10 years. Loki aside, this was the basically the first appearance of Kang the Conqueror. I expect his "threat" to get progressively bigger.

Ok here goes:

I appreciate and respect Victor’s knowledge BUT…

HE WAS 101% WRONG ABOUT KANG!

He is judging him on a horrendous 2 minute post credits scene bit of what was poorly delivered dialogue.

Victor is being disingenuous by resorting to using low hanging fruit and maybe this speaks to the bigger problem of people using bootleg footage completely out of context and with no emotional attachment to the plot to base their final opinions on.

In the movie he is absolutely amazing!

Anyways..

The movie was a super fun rollercoaster I find these characters to be very endearing and JUST LIKE AVATAR it is another FAMILY movie!

I love it that the main baddie involved with the multiverse timeline started out in a movie as far away from the multiverse as possible the complete opposite of it actually.

One scene made this movie worth the trip to the movies and it single handily owns anything post EG including NWH and it’s this:

Don’t read it if you haven’t gone yet, don’t ruin it for yourselves it’s worth the wait..

Spoiler Spoiler:

MODOK nowhere as bad as he was made out to be.

At first I also was also taken back by

FUN rollercoaster yeah that sounds about right.
