I have noticed that the level of weathering on my beskar is a lot lighter than some of the previous pictures here. I had the Cod wipes ready to go, but this actually looks alright. Some of the earlier photo posts have the wear incredibly heavy handed. You guys noticing this?
I suspected. I’d say 90% of the pics I’ve seen were heavy weathering, but some looked lighter. Since most of the pics were the deluxe I was hoping my Regular edition would be lighter on the weathering, but no luck.

I’m having flashbacks to 1999, when Hasbro released the Battle Droid with 4 random variations of weathering. Luckily back then we could see the actual figure before exchanging money.

I’m trying to decide between the regular or deluxe. Are the boxes the same size, or is the deluxe box larger? I’m not sure if the extra accessories still fit in the regular box.

Box same size but Deluxe accessories got extra tray on the back so the height of the box is little bigger

Rewatching seasons one and two just now it strikes me the Beskar never looks quite as shiny and reflective as this chrome.

I wonder if the inevitable Season three Mando figure will be more of a happy medium between the V1 and V2 Beskar.
Yeah I just opened mine up and I'm not really sure how I feel about that mirror chrome in hand. It certainly makes the figure more impressive to look at... but also makes it look a bit cheap and toyish and doesn't seem to fit the scale.

Think I might go back to my original plan or repainting the armor on the previous figure and see if I like that any better.

That’s what I was thinking from photos and video reviews as well. But what I have concluded is that it all depends on the specific lighting used in each scene.

I’d say for most of the outdoor scenes and under diffuse lit interiors, the armor looked decidedly less mirror finish. But when there is an interior scene in dark rooms with multiple focused light sources (like the BOBF scene with The Armorer and Paz Vizla, the chrome finish is much more obvious.

For instance, here’s a shot of Chrome Mando in my light box from the same photo shoot as the pic I posted above. The difference? I used a diffuser on my photo lamps so that the reflection off of the armor was less intense. Take a look at the difference:

At any rate, I’m very happy to have both V2 and V3 to cover all or most of the bases in the display where it’s harder to vary the lighting from figure to figure.

Good luck with your custom if you decide to go that route, DJ!

Got the deluxe yesterday from Sideshow. In my eyes, the new armor surface treatment is miles better than the previous attempts. I don't see the weathering so much as the overall heightened contrast in the armor, especially around any surface changes or textures. I had seen photos of the headsculpt and I was concerned, but this thing looks usual HT grade. I like his semi-sombre expression. Accessories are great (spear is HUGE).

All that said, i am glad I have 2 Mandos now. One goes with the Swoop, and the other in a diorama later to be determined

Getting both regular and Dx versions, i will likely try to remove weathering on one of them. Just not too sure how much i will remove.
