Brief Introduction

Snipers are highly trained professionals who hide in discreet locations and use precise weapons to elimenate targets from long distances. They play a crucial role in special operations and can be decisive in determining outcomes.

DID proudly present you the 1/6 WWII German Wehrmacht-Heer sniper – Wolfgang. With a sharp eye, he’s ready for action at a moment’s notice.
Wolfgang is dressed in typical WWII German sniper outfits, including an M43 field tunic and trousers and a newly crafted reversible camouflage smock. In addition, there is a camo-painted helmet, a mosquito head net, and a grey toque for him. German field canvas gaiters and black low boots made of genuine leather are his footwear.

Wolfgang is fully armed. He carries a wood and metal K98 sniper rifle, which is excellent in performance and easy to carry, with a simple structure and great firepower. Coupled with the brand-new ZF42 sniper scope, it can precisely target at a long distance. Also, he comes with two eihandgranates and a boot knife.

Moreover, Wolfgang is also equipped with a range of beautifully crafted accessories such as a bread bag, mess tin, canteen, and monocular. A new K98 sniper rifle scope case is designed for storing the ZF42 scope. Notably, the K98 sniper rifle rear sight cover and the ammo pouches are made of genuine leather. Various metal medals are finely engraved and included as well.

Wolfgang is ready to take on the WWII US Ranger team. Don’t miss your chance to add him to your collection!
PS: US Rangers action figures that show in the image are not included in D80163.

Another great looking figure.
Nice to see the marsh pattern camo get some love.

Like Ujindou's recent Fallschirmjaeger camouflage jump smock, DID's smock colouring also looks a bit bright.

However, I think I may have identified the brighter green sumpfmuster pattern in Peterson's Wehrmacht Camouflage Uniforms:

I laughed when I first saw this, making this guy before their version of Wade. I like it overall though it's missing the chicken wire that he had in the movie.

I was reading comments on the BBICN post and see a lot of the same hate the two generation war figures had, uniforms too light and comes with little accessories/reuse I 100% agree with the uniforms being lighter than they should be.

wonder if they will make a steamboat willy figure or the SS guy who killed Melish.

Some barrels, like this KAR98, IMHO, should be metal, like this one with the German sniper. Eventually these figures will all take a shelf dive at some point. I'm glad DID uses metal in cases like this.

The above photo is DML 10th Mountain Ryan. Look at the fragility of that plastic barrel for the M21 over his shoulder. Also there's a male / female connector from the back of the front sight and with the rest of that thin barrel. In a situation like that..... just make it metal. I even knew a few people who had that M21 snap on them in shipping from dealers. Literally just standard delivery, even in it's plastic clamshell casing was enough, in some cases, to cause a snap.

I'm all for great detail in the right scale, but at some point, durability has to be a factor IMHO.

Also the metal scope for the KAR98, it gives it a distinctive look I don't think you can get with a plastic scope with weathering. I don't always like metal use in weapons ( DID made a US WW2 flamethrower guy, and the tank system was all metal, and that was just unconscionable IMHO, no figure is going to stand and hold it's joint strength like that) but sometimes it's essential.

( EDIT - I think this was it, I found a picture. I got a DID flamethrower from JPHobbies years ago ( Was it a Soldier Story one? I do think it was DID) , over a decade or more, and the price kept going down and no one would buy it and I didn't know why. I thought it was a cool piece to maybe do a MacReady custom from The Thing. Then I got it and damn the package was heavy. Then I understood why no one bought it. The tanks were metal. I put it on a figure and it just bent right over. I used a figure stand and it dragged it down too. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful detail, but it was pretty impractical. One thing that was good was the hose system wasn't quite rubber, but it wasn't plastic like some other brands would use, it was very functional. I waited for a JPHobbies for a free shipping weekend or something, so he probably lost money just shipping it to me. When I came back in the hobby, looks like he shut down, like many others. Unfortunate)

This KAR98 here is beautiful. I want one for sure. You don't even have to be WW2 German collector to appreciate the craft and skill put into that gun.

Just thoughts.

Wolfgang's here.

The sculpt has character and is well painted, but hit it with a bright light and it reveals a waxy/satin finish. It's not an issue under normal lighting.

As with Winter the uniform's darker than DID's photos suggest. Like the sculpt it's very receptive to light, and the camera flash makes it appear light grey.

It's actually more of a slate grey with a tinge of green. A different shade to Winter's uniform, which almost exactly matched this old DML tunic:

The rifle is metal with what I presume to be plastic furniture which does a good job of replicating dense hardwood.

The helmet is metal with a separate 'leather' liner as usual:

Other metal parts are the sniper scope case, mess tin, grenades and the boot knife and it's scabbard.

The smock looks to have come out very close to the prototype. This shot was taken with flash:

Just as I'm getting to the end of assembly DID decide to release their video on how to assemble him, though it's the basic, fiddly things as usual.

At least it explained what the little black u-clip was: a front sight hood.

They also described the rifle as metal and wood. It's hard to tell in hand because the grain is so close and the finish so smooth.

He comes with the Jaeger sleeve insignia and two Obergefreiter patches (one for 6 years of service). I didn't apply any of them as he'll likely always be wearing the smock, so can save them for another figure. I removed his Iron Cross and Infantry Assault badge for the same reason.
