He explained that he wanted to do just one version and 89 has always been his favorite.
There's very little difference between films, right? The '89 just had wipers in Returns.
Only thing else would how they tried to show it as a one seater?

I'd love a 1/12 scale, but there's no way in hell I'd ever be able to afford it. And as awesome as a 1/12 scale Batmobile would be, we still don't have a really good 1/12 Batman to drive it!

The Cleveland Browns will win a Super Bowl before Mezco ever releases their 1989 Batman.

Contrary at many think, both cars were painted semi gloss / satin black in both films.
A lot of returns cars or replica were repainted gloss.
Dark silver/bronze rims in 89
Full black rims in returns.

If you have the HT one, there is really no point getting this IMO. Having to deal with selling the HT one is a hassle.

I'm buying this because I sold the HT one a long time ago when I was broke and lived in a 1 BR apartment. I could not display this.

Do they intend to build this this so that the DX09 Batman figure can fit inside with the cockpit closed? It was my impression Hot Toys had to cheat the height of the car up to make that possible.

I’m sure I read somewhere you can but I can’t find it again.

The specs on the email said:
  • Correctly Scaled and sized 1/6 scale 1989 Batmobile
Also I think Joost just confirmed the Interceptor!!

What I’m suggesting is that I think it can either fit the DX09, or it can be correctly-scaled and sized for 1/6, but it maybe can’t be both. Guess we’ll see!

Just as a point of reference, the HT batmobile is 39 inches long, 9 inches tall and 16 inches wide. The jazzinc version is 43.6 inches long, 8.56 inches tall, and 15.73 inches wide, which is almost 5 inches longer. It can be both correctly scaled and fit the DX09 provided it has the leg room for the figure (which appears to be the case here). Based on these measurements, it sounds like the jazzinc batmobile will be far sleeker looking than the HT version. I'm very excited to see the final version and see how the smoke and sound effects work out. The paint job should be a significant upgrade, as well.

Unless HT actually does reissue the DX09 and the market price drops, there's no way I'm going to cram an expensive figure like that into the cockpit. I might have to pose him gently leaning over the hood with a small cloth and a can of wax

I'm actually somewhat concerned that HT will not do the DX09 reissue just to burn Jazzinc. By all accounts, they're stupid enough to do that.

Ok, it’s done… I’ve ordered the Jazzinc 1989 Batmobile…

Never thought I would have paid a so expensive prop.
But, Batman is my favorite character, 89 is my holy grail franchise and the 89 Batmobile my favorite vehicle of all time.
So when Joost put it on PO, I knew I would be in.
I’m not a rich man. This Batmobile + VAT represents one month’s salary for me.
Still a few months ago, I did have doubts but after the fact the he gets licensed and above all the fantastic success that was the 66 Batmobile I’m 100% confident that this 89 is gonna be incredible.
I wanted to be part of this adventure. Can’t wait.
The sell of the HT one already paid more than the half and I plan to sell a lot of pieces in my collection. Perfect time and occasion to concentrate and focus on my grails. And Batman 89 is clearly on the top of the list!

Yeah that’s true and above all, as an European citizen, I’m proud to give my money to a European maker and contribute to the « local » economy and to a such human company.

I'm tempted by this but need to be sure Hot Toys will re-issue the 89 Batman first.

Don't suppose you know if Joost declare the 5% or 20% rate of Vat for the UK? I know Darkside Collectibles, also European based, use the 5% rate but Sideshow annoyingly it's always 20%.

Still kicking myself for selling the HT Batman Returns figure. What the hell was I thinking.

If you go on the product page, your browser automatically calculate your VAT rate from your location.
For me it was exactly 20%, as everything that enters on the French territory.

Concerning Returns, I can’t help you.
Never been a big fan of the movie, rather than the suit so I never bought it.
For me it has always been 89. The one…
😉

I never understood why Hot Toys never included a “driver Batman” figurine with the Tumbler and ‘89 Batmobile.

A sculpted figure with a fabric cape that can just sit in the cockpit so you don’t have to sacrifice an actual figure. Seems like a no brainer.

That would've been neat, similar to how they included a Mark 43 bust with the AOU Hulkbuster.

its not their fault though, the original 89 film, they had a special Bat cowl with shorter bat ears to allow him to fit inside the real Batmobile

I may have to cancel this. Yes, I'll eat a $100 NRD, but holy hell, Bats and the batmobile from HT is still cheaper than what this version costs. With that extra $, I may be able to get a very used DX09 to have it sit inside the damn thing.
