Mines charged and shipped, I get the complaints, but are we really shocked with the level of complexity of this figure, we knew it would be tricky, like the reviewer said the only way to have avoided this was for it to have come with 2 bodies and we know damn well HTs wasn’t gonna do that…..typically when I pose my figures, they stay that way for a while, so I have a decision ti make on how it’ll be posed next to the DC MK5

Any more people with in-hand experience with this figure? Would be nice to know more before ordering given the problems reported by some people with the way the suit attaches to the figure.

I don’t have him but I’ve seen a lot of reviewers mentioning a fear of breaking something but haven’t seen any reports of actual breakage. Parts take a lot of patience and maybe some small non-sharp tools for applying outward pressure from behind the armor while clipping it together.

Then it’s just being prepared to live with the wrinkling of the suit at the ends of his limbs.

Another follow-up for you. Norm unboxed and assembled the entire thing on a livesteam last night; his first time doing it and he got it all to snap together, no breakage issues, and the pinching on the suit didn’t look too bad.

thanks for sharing the livestream! yeah, agreed that the assembly was a little bit stressful at first but was able to get it all to snap without breaking anything and feel pretty good about it. the suit looks amazing and there's more articulation in the armor pieces that i realized. can't see myself removing it to ever display with just the racing suit, though. Deluxe suitcase is beautiful but I think an easy pass.

a few pics from this morning!

Welcome, thanks for doing the stream and nice pics! I was going to tag you here but I couldn’t recall your full username - I only remembered it had ‘great brain’ in it 🤣

It’s an incredible figure to own, but I think wayyyyy too over zealous with the design, gotta appreciate the effort on this from HotToys, but on this scale to have soooo many moving parts, this figure is just too fragile, I didn’t even bother putting the suit on, just setting up the suitcase I snapped a handle and had to crazy glue it…lol so this is how it’ll be posed and that’s that.

@ksteezy I would have loved it if HT had offered just what you have in your pics as an option. That’s exactly how I wanted to display him, right in front of the suitcase as it begun to transform. I‘ll eventually pick this up but I don’t really intend on fitting all the pieces on him for display.

Mind you, I snapped one of the handles just setting up the suitcase…km content with this pose since I have the diecast mk5 and I can display them together

I just got this and set it all up. I only did the full armor stage and that's how I'll display it. I watched 2 youtube videos before I attempted assembly. I also put the torso together off the body 1st to make sure I felt comfortable with all the snaps. I actually didn't find it too difficult to put together, after all that. I also don't think it's as tight on the track suit as I expected. For those who have this and have also put it in the full armor mode, what are your thoughts of the track suit being affected by the armor pieces? Additionally, I am considering getting a generic track suit tony from ebay to use under the armor so I can have the track suit Tony that came with this to displayed with the other Tonys. Has anyone done this? Does anyone think there would be a problem fitting the armor pieces on body/suit other than the one that came with the set?

Thanks

I have the figure displayed as the full armor suit up sequence. That was such a chore to put together that I don’t see myself ever breaking that down ever again. Haha. Like yourself I had to watch a YouTube video just to see how to get it properly snapped on the track suit figure and bits definitely pop off if you’re not too careful (doing the mid-section and hips was painful). I just can’t see myself bothering to reverse what I did to get it displayed in its current state. I think miracles need to be made as just getting it all barely secured to its proper HT figure was an accomplishment. Maybe getting a spare track suit would be good as a backup I’d think.

Hi all good to know, i have a race suit tony mostly from the dj customs set its a little shorter than a ht tony figure but i hope i can swap the body out & use it in the suit up version like you when mine arrives, all the best.

Very cool. I did look at that one on ebay. Not much of the suit is noticeable once all the armor is on. Post some pic and let us know how it goes with putting the armor on that custom.

I love the idea of this figure, especially after just rewatching IM 2 again today...But I agree with past comments, the hair is too full on the sides and the suit is way too clean for a character that was just in a crash...yes you can weather it yourself but why should you have to...Having said that I may still pick up the loose figure and case at some point...

Heads up the deluxe set of this is 25% off at Sideshow today. Very tempting!

Nice!

Popcultcha also recently knocked A$100 off both standard and deluxe sets. I used my pennies and got another A$50 off to bring final price for the standard ver. down to A$350 (US$220), which I think is the right price for this piece (given the fragility of this figure, it had no right costing as much as it did initially). Purchased Mark V back in February and had to wait quite a few months for the suit-up to be marked down. Quite happy with how this panned out - Can't wait to get it in hand!
