Sorry, no help on removing the helmet scratch but I'll use this as a chance to post the latest pics of my commander. I'm really happy with the level of weathering on this guy - from a distance it looks like a clean trooper but there's just enough grime to make the details pop.

Great looking Trooper with the custom RO comms pack, very impressive work you did!🙂

I ended up picking up another Stormtrooper Commander figure with the 30% discount code and some RPs. I'm converting my first one to a Jedha patrol version so I figured a true Commander or even removing the paldron and making him a regular grunt was too good to pass on, for the price.
Got this and the artillery trooper with the 30% discount and some RPs. Ended being like a buy one get one free type of deal thanks to the RP.

Was everyone on the board trying to get the Cap figure or was it just a non account locked promo code that anyone could use?

Either way great deal for a solid figure.

Good question. I'm not sure how exactly it worked but I received the email from Sideshow promoting the 30% off on select items after the Cap fiasco.

I'm curious to see if there were some that didn't receive the 30% promo email.

EDIT: This figure has shipped. That was pretty fast.

You had to RSVP for the figure, and I'm guessing that's how they decided to send out the code too. I do believe it was locked to an account.

Here they are. The one in the middle is before I polished it. And so no one gets confused, I added an extra ammo strap from a Force Awakens trooper to this one just break up the monotony. This is the Commander figure. I just took the shoulder pauldron off and added the ammo pack.

Cool! The Magic eraser works fairly well, and I'm assuming it cuts into the clear coat, but can be polished back up. Thanks for sharing!

That is correct. Magic Eraser is the equivalent of about 3000 grit sandpaper so it’s sanding off the painted scratch and the clear over it.

Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind. And definitely tape off the trim when going for the left side of the scratch.

Hi Mcbillman,
I just received another Stormie Squad Leader and wanted to try your method for removing the weathering line. I’m not familiar with Magic Erasers or the Tamiya polish. I did some quick research and there’s a few different Tamiya Compounds in tubes. Is that the right stuff and did you use all of the 3 types (coarse/fine/finish)? Would you mind posting a pic/brand of the Magic Eraser you used?

If it goes well and I have the confidence I may also try and remove the black mark on the head of my Coruscant Guard. I’m not sure if that’s coated with anything protective but it’s certainly not glossy. Any suggestions of a matt protective coat that may work after (assuming the black mark can be removed)?

Advice gratefully received. Cheers.
