Doesn’t look bad, and on its own with no other Iron Man HTs next to it it’ll do the job. Used to be a major grail for me until they did a diecast version of their 2.0 instead of putting in more money for even a slightly taller updated figure with new headsculpt. Now I may buy one day IF it sits and goes on discount

yea, I'm just not impressed with this unfortunately. That reused Tony sculpt was already soft the first time around and no matter the paint job, it still looks soft and waxy. Maybe I need to see more of a side by side than what the video shows, b/c visually, this looks nearly identical to the previous, plastic 2.0 release.

Midget man released.

Also there's something very wrong with how smooth they made some of the armor bits. Zero texture and looks like it got coated in super gloss coat. Looks terrible and cheap.

It's even less detailed than the original plastic 2.0 figure from 2012. :lol

A new Mk 1 was at the top of the wanted list for a lot of people so it’s a shame they dropped the ball. Especially for a character that was a core part of Hot Toys’s success.

It’s not bad, but just not great; a hallmark of their pre-InArt days.

I think it’ll look fine in person but it also already looks dated and it’s just come out.

Maybe collectors will get a definitive Mk 1 for the 20th anniversary of Iron Man in 2028.

Hmm you may be right. I found this pic from the suits at a Marvel Event. The head is about where it should be. Still though, the suit is only an inch or two shorter than his other suits - not nearly a foot shorter like the figures will depict. The Mark I is listed at 11.81" - the new upcoming Mark III is listed at 12.79"!

This is the scale chart Hot Toys should’ve referenced. But I won’t complain. Money saved for me. Just give me the new Mk 3 already and I’ll be happy.

The plastic helmet was way too textured though?

The shinier smoother finish is actually more accurate.

It's fine if it's smoother than the plastic version but not as smooth as they have it right now. It should be somewhere in the middle.

He didn't spray paint the armor with a super thick layer of gloss. It should have weathering and actually look like it's hand made out of metal/iron, not fresh out of some factory. It's lacking any sense of detail besides the dents.

It's lacking that overall hammered in detail that was in the 2012 figure. Just look at all the fine details that's on the plastic version on the body. Actually giving it that hand-made look. Now it's just baby smooth all over.

Yeah, I agree with dominishin on this one. The diecast version with it’s smoother, shinier look is more accurate to the movie. I thought he looked much better compared to the earlier version in the video. Height aside and helmet down this looks really nice to me.

It was a hard pass until I watched the unboxing. Now I’m considering it.

Hilarious to me that they didn’t even bother permanently attaching the two stands. The 2.0 had a much cooler exclusive little hologram, that’s for sure.

Yep, it looks more accurate, and it's die cast, means the material is closer to the real thing.
Also the USB powered lights and fan kinda cool for long time display.
I am also considering this one now, since I don't have the old versions!

But height wise, this has to be shorter or you need to actually oversize the Tony body entirely. The other suits are the ones that are hero scale.

This and the new Mk6 2.0 are a perfect example of HT pre and post InArt. Same figure, minimal tweaks, old headsculpt. Then entirely new headsculpt with rolling eyes, big diorama base, added extra parts.

It's true. Sadly.

This little figure is still a fail. This Mk I was my most anticipated Iron Man... and HT just lobbed a lazy soft ball.

I can't wait to laugh when in-hand pictures show this standing next to their die cast Mark 5 and others.

When this released today I was secretly hoping they had fixed the height issue. But looks like it's the typical Hot Toys fail on fixing obvious complaints.

Fine for me. Saved me several hundred Euros. Even more actually considering I was thinking of having Mk1 and 85 next to each other. But with this it makes the whole decision a lot easier.

Not a fair comparison in my opinion, the Mark 7 is one of his tallest armor same goes with the 5. That boy is a UNIT

With the price these things cost nowadays, I should feel thrilled once this is released. Seeing this compared to original release, I’m good. Just cancelled. I’ll eat the NRD and get whatever payments made back.
