Waiting for mine from Sideshow, had this update 3 days running now "Scheduled to depart on the next planned movement,"

Anyone seen this before with DHL? Estimate says it should be delivered by the end of day 24th Jan but it seems stuck in HK. "Scheduled to depart on the next planned

Edit- scratch that, it's "Shipment has departed from a DHL facility HONG KONG", so I can only assume it's somewhere in the air.

Great lighting will always make a difference
Reminds me of the complaints about the Qui Gon sculpt, which photographed really soft most of the time, but in hand IMO has a lot of fine details. Anyway from a foot away on the shelf will be great to have a good unhelmeted version.

Paid the final payment today. Man I'm super excited for this. Yes, a little frustrating that the first thing I'm gonna need to do is modify it but every single mod I've seen makes this significantly better than any 1/6 I've seen. I'm still dumbfounded HT felt the need to dirty up that beautiful chrome and I really don't think it was to hide potential inconsistencies, because I have yet to hear of one. I think it was simply a design choice and kind of a bad one at that.

Not so much to hide inconsistencies it just alleviates them from having to deliver a perfectly chrome product because even the slightest imperfections on the chrome there would’ve been returns.

That makes some sense. I guess I question in what way would it not turn out perfect or at least very close to that then. I don't remember hearing about any mando 2.0 being recalled because of an imperfection in the paint app and that figure was hardly weathered. Perhaps it would be less about the actual application of the paint and more about the mixing of it? I have no idea since I have zero clue regarding that.

i remember a decent amount of people having some issues with marks / damage on the recent chrome clone troopers, maybe they wanted to avoid that.

while we shouldnt need to make any edits on these figures, at least this is a fairly easy fix. dont forget the scratch on the stormtrooper commander’s forehead which turned out nearly impossible to remove because of how it was applied.

personally im planning to let it rock with the weathering at first, will give him more variance from the S1 beskar which will also be on display. if season 3 starts airing and the inaccuracy starts getting to me i’ll take some cape cod cloth to it then.

(OT, you definitely shouldve worked out a sponsorship deal before posting that tutorial 😂)

Yeah there’s precedent with Iron Man figures as well. The cleaner the armor is, the more any minor imperfections stand out leading some to exchange or return them.

A clean suit would’ve been like Mk 21 Midas and potentially a nightmare to deal with.

Although they could’ve toned down the weathering just a bit and still hid any potential imperfections.

I just noticed I think I took a bit off the area of the helmet that shouldn't have been cleaned. Any advice on how to fix it?

You took a bit of the chrome off, or a bit of the weathering? Hard to tell from that pic.

I mean technically there’s not a grooved line in the 1:1 helmet and it just angles down so without the black paint line it’s still accurate

I think your right but it's not very noticable I'm guessing it's just weathered on all the mando helmets to make it more pronounced. I still ended up fixing it using a black sharpy pen to add it. But at least I know now the black paint line isn't needed.

I found the waist pad area on my figure had some of the stitch line was fraid. I tried fixing it but made it a bit worse, but I was able to somewhat fix it and for now it isn't noticable, I also went ahead and got the V2 Mando waist pad area as that is cleaner look.

I did the same. Swapping the waist pad with the V2 version. Looks great.

Where'd you get the v2 waist pad from?

Well it arrived after several delays in China and Germany. Have to say I wasn't impressed with the figure initially. However after a few hours of cod caping, it looks phenomenal. I've tried to leave little bits of what now look like dust in certain parts so it still looks like it's been worn. The original weathering was horrible I'm afraid.

Didn't have enough time to get it into a decent pose as it got to 11.30 and was up for work at 4.45 this morning but I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow night and hopefully get some better pictures.

If I was unable to modify it then I probably would have sent it back, but now it's done I think it looks phenomenal.
