The thread for this figure seems to have gotten deleted in the forum reboot. This is my (pretty major) reworking of my Sideshow Rebel Fleet Trooper. I am doing the same with my Captain Antilles and ANH Vader.

It's obvious that HT doesn't want to do head sculpts for nameless troopers like Death Star Trooper, Hoth Rebel, Fleet Trooper, etc so why not just make costume kits? You don't have to think very hard outside the box to come to this conclusion, and they would sell extremely well as SW collectors would army build. HT may not want to go this route but it baffles me that the knockoff companies haven't latched on to this.

Nice! Fleet Trooper and Antilles are two of the best older SS figures to modify. Doesn’t take too very much to get them looking good.View attachment 531121View attachment 531122
Ha - yeah those pics of yours were a key inspiration for me, Coco! And I bought those actual TFA Han boots for my Antilles reboot. Still not sure I'm going to redden them up or leave them as-is.

Yeah, there were a few so-so quality Imperial uniforms on eBay a couple of years ago, but a "space defender" outfit that was an accurate rebel fleet trooper outfit would sell so well.

I would love to do a custom Hoth Rebel but the cut/sew is a total nightmare. Even my Veers has been incredibly tough to get looking accurate.

I love the Death Star Troopers you made but I wish I could just pay some money without going to the trouble that I am sure that you did. I would gladly pay $125 or so for clothing, helmet, boots, and a blaster. It's not much trouble sourcing a sculpt and a body.

Oohhh...I’d like to see that if you decide to make them look more cordovan than brown.

I’d be all over some clothing kits if HT or someone else ever decided to make them.

Great idea for a thread. I’d like to see thread reboots for a lot of the older Sideshow figures. Since I collect only OT figures, and there’s been a drought lately thanks to the Mandalorian (happy for all you guys that collect Mando), I’ve been tracking down some of the older figures myself. I recently picked up Hammerhead & Greedo, and did some minor mods to my Greedo to bring him up to par but I’m unable to locate threads. Here’s my updated Rebel Fleet Trooper in my display case.

Looks great, echo. :clap I love the blaster, so superior to the HT version.

Not sure why Sideshow included that narrow black belt though - no fleet troopers I could see had a second belt like that.

Thanks Tali! While I’d welcome a HT Rebel Trooper, I’m pretty satisfied with my reworked SS one.

This does look pretty nice for an older Sideshow figure. Even out of the box it’s not bad, but the mods done by some in this thread improve it.

For mine the only mod I did was use the deagostini helmet with the SS chin strap (other than the HS, body, and hands as you pointed out).

Wow, these all look great! What kind of mods did everyone do other than heads and bodies?
Beyond the head/body, I replaced the whole outfit with custom actually - vest, pants and shirt - and the belt/holster is scratch-built (real leather.) I just felt that overall the Sideshow outfit looks pretty damn solid, but the cut-sew is ever so slightly dated so I'd take a shot at an upgrade.

Yeah, it's a good choice though in the end I couldn't decide which was the right size - the DeAg is slightly smaller which I liked (I assume the SSC helmet was sized for those massive heads from the late 2000s era.) But when I did the precise fitting of the helmet to the DID head (ie comparing to screen captures) I started to think maybe the Sideshow was a more accurate size.

I have the DeAg helmet on my Capt Antilles currently and the two helmets seem almost interchangable, though the DeAg I think has slightly sharper details vs the SSC.

This is one figure that I wish I had picked up several more of.

I still have mine stock but do plan on upgrading the body and head sculpt.

Great job, guys!

Last year, I was able to pick up an extra Rebel Fleet Trooper minus the belt and holster. Need to find a decent replacement.

Would love to see a boxed outfit set for the Rebel Fleet Trooper as well as for Imperial uniformed officers. (Gray and Black, for example.)
