Me to myself every time I buy figures I had no initial intention of getting:

if you focus on chasing the past, you will miss out the present and future and when you look back you realized how much you have missed out. because the present and future that you ignored will become the past the next split second that you will never be able to chase back the past. most folks whom are born well off dont really focus on yhe past because they have lived the past fuller than most of us.

so if you have to be nostalgic i suggest you be more choosey about it.

Haha no, I always need something to look forward to in terms of a next piece or what to change in terms of how to display in the best way. If I didn't collect statues, I'd just be putting my time into something else. I'll definitely be winding down the pre orders in the next few years but don't think I'll ever be fully out. Not with the amazing pieces and advancements in techniques and materials etc

This year I'll be changing up my display and getting new cabinets so that will cost as much as a couple new statues at least

Calling inflation "rising costs" is a political ploy. Inflation has one cause, an increased supply of currency, caused by government approval of money 'printing'. Since gas is traded in US dollars, the inflation is distributed globally, and is the fault of the US government, with the Federal Reserve doing the 'printing'. If they didn't have a pandemic or war to blame this on, it would be some other excuse, but it has and will continue ever since the 70's when they abandoned the gold standard which tied the US dollar to a hard asset. Inflation is a statistical certainty with fiat currency.

I'm down to picking up the occasional loose piece on Ebay. And then only if it's far below market ( i.e. random luck with the ending auction prices)

I've looked at 1/12 scale, the Classified GI Joes up close are really fantastic, many of them. Less space. You could get 10 of them for the price of one 1/6th HT in some cases. But I'm not sure I'm ready to go down that rabbit hole.

Taking up less space is what got me into the Mezco one:12 world. I ended up with 25 figures and a room that looked like a store at a swap meet .They also lacked presence. So, I sold them all off, and went into 1/6 and 1/4 scale. Less stuff in the room but every piece I own has a presence.

This last week I was able let go a pile of NECA Terminator, Gremlins and various horror figures as well as a cast signed SW poster. The poster was hard to let go, but ultimately I'm fine with having done so. Feeling relieved as a result.

After have PO the Joost 1989 Batmobile, i realized that it’s the perfect moment to reduce my collection, only keep the grails, go back to the roots.
Like at the beginning, when I only had Batman 89 stuff and a few OT SW items.
For years now, I tried to collect everything I loved as a kid. It became a sort of mini museum of my youth without a real thread. I think it’s time to cure.
As someone said here very wisely, « we can’t get a physical interpretation of everything we liked ».
I would love keep everything but certain pieces forced you to make choice and I think it’s a good thing.
So I plan to sell everything non Batman 89 ( GB, BTTF, JP, Robocop, Terminator…)
I just allow me to keep a very few OT SW items.

I haven’t bought any thing in years. I don’t miss it

I have been thinking of quitting for years - but the more time passes, the more I find my self invested in this hobby.

I believe the best way (at least for myself) to quit this addiction is to quit social media entirely (FB, IG and all exposure). I can't want what I don't know is out there.

I think it's defeated me.

Try to do more custom stuff instead of buying for short term pleasure

i feel for those collecting neca esp completlists. i mean it's the best time being a TMNT fan but at the same time worst for the wallet and real estate.

Social Media is trash anyway. I was over all of it when I started seeing the same 4 or 5 characters over and over. There’s no excitement for me. I miss the days of there being some originality. It’s been almost 20 years and there no full Avengers, X-Men, or FF. No new Spider-Man or Batman rogues. It’s become pathetic

but folks are ok with cars. accords are accord but keeps getting better like camries. so why not figures?

Whenever I do decide to get back in, I’m going after the older statues

After decided to cure and reduce my collection since last October, I’ve already took back circa 4 000 $ and still have a couple of items to sell.
The Jazzinc 1989 Batmobile is already completely refunded and above all, I considerably limited the number of boxes and experimented a lightweight feeling.
Ok it takes time and a little effort but I’m very glad. The hardest is to begin!
