I watched the Star Wars original trilogy (Ep. IV, V, VI) for the first time!

Gotta love this forum for going into every bit of detail! :rock

Wow, that's amazing! I can only imagine what it it would be like to see SW at the movies back then, it must've been an electrifying experience!
It really was a cultural event. EVERYONE talked about it. My parents saw it before I did.

I was too young to see the OT at the cinema, but in the late 90s they released the special editions at the cinema, and my mates and I watched all three in one day - morning (SW), lunch (ESB) and afternoon (ROTJ). I loved the experience, but that was before the movies were irreparably mutilated by constant changes for the worse.

I don't think there will ever be a cultural phenomenon like that again.
Just the idea of the toys was simply amazing. The fact that you could actually buy amazing toys from the BEST movie ever was just indescribable.
I remember when I first saw them at a friend's house (we were living in Brazil at the time, and my friend's father had bought him the figures during a trip to the US), I was blown away. My little 10 year old brain exploded. I had to wait until Christmas '79 when I finally got my first Star Wars figures. I swear it was the happiest Christmas I've ever had.
I remember it perfectly: Darth Vader, Death Squad Commander, Han Solo (the version with the small head), Chewbacca, Jawa (with the cloth cloak), Tusken Raider, Obi Wan and Stormtrooper.
Amazing stuff.
