Kang spends 99% of his time wearing his mask, and in every poster and tv spot he's unmasked bar some 2-second clip. If some no-name up-and-coming guy needs his face on the cover without the mask, then I'm starting to think MCU's "Doom" really will be a schmuck with 2 appearances who doesn't wear his mask for more than two scenes at the end... Unless they get someone like Cavill or Driver who don't mind the mask. Urban loves a mask but he was wasted as Skurge. Sigh...

Unless of course they turn things around and start off with Doom posing as a hero (maybe wanting to upstage Reed), filling in as the new Stark of sorts, being on the heroes' side throughout Avengers 5, and eventually showing his true colours in Avengers 6 when he steals Prime Kang's powers, is inevitably brought down, gets scarred, goes crazy and turns into the tyrannical despot we know (with the "twist" being that he's retained some of the power). If he appears Pre-Scarred first, the actor could get a decent amount of screentime showing his face until he has to wear the mask much more. The current rumor for Reed is Adam Driver, so we'll be looking for a similarly known guy in his 30s-40s. I hope they go for a Euro Royal origin and don't touch the 616 stuff. I've got no patience for that anymore. I want a handsome, arrogant NuLoki who's Stark x Strange to kill it.

There are rumors that MCU X-Men will be going Cosmic, and they've trademarked stuff like "Eternity Saga" and "Eternity Wars", so I can see Doom getting a mini-arc here, before being set up as THE bad guy. Getting both the multi-movie appearances of Loki, sometimes working with the heroes like Strange, sometimes not, while also plotting towards the big picture. If they bring in the Abstracts they could top the multiverse stuff. And Hickman's working on a new Marvel series, meaning they'll surely adapt it for their next round, so I guess I better wait for the next decade to get all the Doom dollies...

Oh yeah, this is the Ant-Man 3 thread. Uh... Huh. Wherever I go literally nobody actually talks about the movie itself. They just wanna see Klawng's first proper appearance. And it makes sense. If you read the spoilers the trailer basically shows how the entire thing goes down and there are no real surprises. It's a movie that exists solely to introduce Klawng.

PS: Funny thing is, I've seen Majors spammed on every poster and news site I go to lately, so at this point I've gotten used to Klawng. I still hope they bring in multiple people to play the role across the various movies and shows "Kang" will appear, but alas, I've gotten used to the idea of the Klawng dolly. I liked it better when I was more passionate and would go on a rant each time... Bah, acceptance sucks, it's so bland... Seriously though, the "mask" is awful. I wonder how HT will pull it off. I'm praying they go with the quasi-metallic look from the promos because that "holomask" in the trailer looked downright dreadful.

Member when we got decent posters for movies that weren’t done by graphic design interns?

The other posters are better. What really disappoints me is the Spider-Man posters. Ever since 3 they have all been complete ***. Spider-Man posters use to be art. I’ll never forget being hyped seeing that twin towers Spider-Man poster as a kid. Looked so cool

Jeez...it's like Marvel is now a factory that just pushes out product that skips the store and heads right to the landfill. But will there be any space left when all that Wakanda merch ends up there after it goes nowhere on clearance? This thing just looks so faceless and boring.

That’s cause once each film kept making a billion why put effort into anything if people are gonna see it.

Unlike Thanos and the stones, there's close to no ramp in time for the future Avengers movies. There is literally no choice but to make this an Antman movie in name only.

But taking the long perspective, I see exactly what Feige is doing. He's hoping Chris Evans and RDJ's projects outside the MCU stall on them. And when they need a hit bad enough and they aren't as bankable anymore, they'll come crawling back as a multi-verse version of Captain America and Iron Man. It's also how he can bring back someone like Ed Norton as a different Hulk and Wesley Snipes as a different universe Blade.

The Multi-Verse is the ultimate retcon treasure chest. It also means anyone can be recast on a dime.

Personally I would find great joy in seeing Terrence Howard come back as Rhodes, then he shoots Mark Ruffalo in the head. With Ruffalo playing Mark Ruffalo in a meta storyline for the MCU. Kind of like Being John Malkovich, except Malkovich can actually act and Ruffalo just shows up and spits out lines like he's a woke weeping human bidet.

Listen Victor, I write some long posts sometimes, you write some long posts sometimes. If you want to do me a favor, write a long examination on why Ruffalo's version and portrayal of the Hulk drags down the entire MCU. Or, more effectively, why all viewers should despise Mark Ruffalo. Even his name irritates me. He sounds like a cartoon character that has a side career making chicken sauce.

To be fair, their Post-MCU movies did tank. Evans has disappeared (EDIT: he did Knives Out and that flick with Gosling, but dunno how much that counts) and RDJ's Doolittle flopped, but at least he's in the new Nolan movie about Oppenheimer. Either way, they'll surely return for Secret Wars. The rest, I don't know. Norton and Marvel didn't part ways amicably and Snipes has his own issues. Ali's Blade will come out in 2024 and will be part of the Midnight Suns. I don't think he'd want to be upstaged or Snipes would like to be a cameo. SW will bank on Fox nostalgia I think. The X-Men and the old FF, plus a lot of MCU centric AUs. Jackman and Tobey alone with Gruffudd's redemption (which'd also allow him to come back in more FF flicks as an AU Reed) and the usual Stewart/McKellen and Fassbender/McAvoy duos would be enough for the GA to clap and buy. And seeing as Cage is always game for a caperole, I think it'd be better to wait for a proper MCU role, not a cameo. Unless of course he appears as some ultra powerful GR and carries over in the MCU as the mentor GR training Danny/Robbie/etc.

Affleck's Daredevil, Jane's Punisher, all these don't really merit a return. You could have them as cameos, but what would be the point? How would it even work? In the original SW the Beyonder kidnapped people from one universe only and made them fight. In the Hickman version universes were getting destroyed left and right, so the main survivors and stars of the actual SW mini-series were mostly 616 characters with some Ultimate hitchhikers. The one thing I could see really making it special would be getting Cruise as an AU Iron Man, but it's nothing more than a pipedream at this point. Still, if they pulled that off, it'd make the Multiverse stuff worth it.

But yeah, my feeling right now is that they're gonna do Hickman's SW and the Fox-Verse will replace the Ultimate U's role in the original story. Avengers and the rest versus X-Men and FF. The whole point is having the two big AUs play off each other, the classic/proper 616 and the Ultimate one. That's easily done with the MCU and the Fox-Verse, plus an extra like Tobey-Man. Then once you get to Battleworld you'll have the various "domains" like in the comic, with Maestro Hulk, HYDRALand with Supreme Leader Rogers, some Iron Man technoland and so on. The problem here is that I don't think RDJ would like to kneel before a newcomer playing god in Klawng's case, so I still am hoping that rumor about the Beyonder isn't true, and they get a bigger name for that. It just wouldn't feel right.

The Multi-Verse is the ultimate retcon treasure chest. It also means anyone can be recast on a dime.
I figure past SW they'll be done with it. They'll bring in whoever's still interested/alive, they'll make bank on the memberies and then move on with the X-Men. I am curious though if they'll soft reboot and have new versions of Iron Man and the such around. I don't think it's possible as that'd invalidate the "younger crop" they're pushing, but it is a thought.

Howard was a far better Rhodes, agreed. I genuinely still do not understand what they saw in Cheadle and cast him as Rhodey. It's not even that they didn't give him a lot of material, he's wrong for the role, period.

I am not a Hulk fan therefore there's no passion in me to fuel a rant. I don't mind him as an actor, but he is annoying IRL, I agree. I weep for Hulk fans, I'm not going to lie. His state in the MCU is dreadful. And what they did to Skaar is inexcusable. I'd say "I hope they'll fix it", but at this point the only hope for a cool Hulk would be to get a Maestro Variant in SW.

All these comic book properties out this year, only Flash and Loki are interesting to me for Keaton and Hiddleston.

Even today with HT's new Bane...the TDK trilogy is old news for me, as cool as a Ra's would be. I only want interesting figures and films from non CBM stuff now.

MCU withdrawal is real!

I honestly have no idea how they hope to keep it going for another 10+ years. Unless they burn through the X-Men faster. Honestly, nonsense like Agatha, Echo, that new Vision show, Wonder Man and all that stuff shouldn't have existed to bloat the brand. They should've started using the X-Men already and left some room to breathe. FF was announced in, what, 2020? And it'll come out, hopefully, in 2025. Nova will, according to rumors, be shoehorned somewhere before The Klawng Dynasty, pretty much a decade after the start of MCU Cosmic and half a decade after the destruction of Xandar. But don't worry, we've got Agatha coming... They're killing the brand with all this useless bloating and snail's pace progression.

Pretty much. It’s very frustrating. You wanted the xmen and ff and it’s lore and characters so freaking use them! This isn’t 2014 where you need to scrape the bottom of the barrel. You have pretty all the characters back. Yea gotg was good but that’s because you released well known characters to get good faith in the brand. All these crap no name characters nobody cares about like eternals and Agatha and Star fox or Shang chi (he’s ok actually) and wonder man and blue marvel. Just stop lol. Marvel wasn’t built on those characters. They aren’t relevant for a reason.
Stop stalling and go big again. Also recast tchalla. What an embarrassing mess that movie was. Better hope secret wars has every mcu character in the book or people are gonna opt out.
Nobody wants to see the b team of nobodies fight kang

I get why they did Eternals, and characters like Shang-Chi can help expand the brand. But Agatha? Echo? Wonder Man? Christ. Blue Marvel I don't mind. He's like Reed x Superman. The problem is that he's obviously based on Denzel, and when he appears he'll probably be played by some 30-something nobody which simply doesn't work. Brashear needs to be on the older side. And they've already wasted Fishbourne who'd have been fantastic in the role. Ali's Blade. Foxx was wasted coming back as Electro. It's not that there aren't any actors who can pull off "scientist Superman", it's that you need the grey temples and professor attitude for him to work.

They won't recast. They'll just do some time travel nonsense and T'Challa II will be aged up. That way they get to have their cake and eat it too. In 2028 we'll get Black Panther x Storm and they'll get to keep the franchise running for another decade+.

Much as I've ridiculed Klawng, he doesn't deserve to have his big fight be against Kate Bishop and She-Hulk. The whole point of Kang is that he's coming back to this point in time to test himself against the legends. But of course even that's been ruined, as the MCU version has apparently killed many Avengers teams off-screen. See, this is why Multiverse nonsense right off the bat sucks. This isn't even Kang at this point, it's an OC. Without his honour-autism he's just a dick with a time machine. And if you give him a sob-story background you ruin the fun of him being a dick with a time machine. You need that balance, otherwise he's a swallow and stupid character.

It's as if they've learned nothing from how bad Phase 4 was and are doubling down on it.

I'd just rather watch The Boys or Invincible over the MCU these days.
I can't imagine being invested in the MCU at this point. I still keep up because all of my favourites still haven't shown up, so I'm compelled to. I've got problems, what can I do? But I don't see how they think they'll get to keep the attention of the General Audience with what they've got coming up. The D+ shows were already not doing so hot. But sure, throw the literal Z-Lister Wonder Man and a Vision show at people, that'll surely work. They could've used the budget to make a better MK show or something, but nope, gotta have Agatha...

Until the FF and X-Men show up, I don’t care about the MCU

What should be concerning is the way the MCU is structured today, they would never make the first Iron Man the way it actually ended up.

On the other hand, I can't quite blame Feige for striking while the iron is hot. Everything has a limited window of opportunity. As soon as JJ Abrams made Star Trek in 2009 and it was a huge commercial and critical hit, he just kept his foot on the pedal and cashed in before most people would realize he had absolutely no idea what he was doing.
