Aragorn, Gandalf and Sauron are the correct LotR Trinity. King, Wizard/Angel, Elf/Overlord/Wizard/Demon. Arthur, Merlyn, Mordred. Baldur, Odin, Loki. It works on so many levels. Aragorn on one side, Gandalf on the other, and Sauron in the middle, behind them, towering over them, raising the One Ring. Now that's a display!

Don't @ me, my taste is superior.

Also, I'm waiting for the ROTK versions because I only collect ultimate versions of characters.

No company will be ballsy enough to make a 1/6 Sauron so that’s out of the question.

Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli > Aragorn, Gandalf

You have my sword, you have my bow and my axe. A man, an elf and a dwarf. The three races of Middle Earth, corrupted by the ring of power represented by the three warriors sworn to save them.

Gandalf is an old hobo with a stick. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are warriors with swords, daggers, bows, arrows and axes.

People playing a game, either video games, an RPG or with toys are never gonna choose to be the wizard or hobbits, they’re gonna go with the other three.

Unless that wizard is Saruman.

I feel it'll be a major test as a figure in general, considering how complex the Stillsuit is. In any case

Primo reference.

I think they can pull off Paul's hair, though. Hot Toys and Blitzway have done that kind of texture before.

Have to agree, that's the trio right there. As a minimum anyway. Would be amazing to see them make the Fellowship.

I agree that Aragorn is more accurate... but I'm a glutton for punishment and had to get them both.

That InArt video of Gandalf with his hair blowing slightly in the breeze sold me way back... I was just waiting to see if Aragorn would be good, thinking he'd be the hardest to capture.
Yeah their Gandalf isn't perfect but far better than the Asmus figure I have on display at the moment. Doubt I can even sell the figure at this point.

I am curious to see how their GTW sculpt looks with a GTG rooted treatment though.

Agreed. Honestly that’s the one thing that kind of makes me a bit irritated with the InArt fans. I get being a bit disenchanted/irritated with some choices Hot Toys makes but it’s not like they’re making garbage figures like some seem to like to make it out. InArt is making very nice figures I’m not denying that, but I feel like Hot Toys definitely still has their place.
Same. While there's no question that this is one heck of a prototype and is one of the best, if not THE best officially licensed protos from a company we've seen yet, like you said, it's not like HT is making garbage figures. Regardless of how you feel about the movie/characters, just a few weeks ago most were praising HT for the amazing looking AOTC Anakin and Padme.

Yes, HT can and has gotten a little boring from time to time, and not everything they do is a homerun, but credit were credit is due. The tune in this thread is sounding more like HT has all of sudden transformed into Star Ace :lol

That's not to say I'm not INCREDIBLY excited by this release. I'm actually going to finally sell off all my LOTR Premium Format statues b/c of how good this looks. Those are the first "high end" statues I ever bought and I never thought I would sell them but here we are.

We're still in the honeymoon stage of this thread though. Eventually we'll start talking more and more about the inaccuracies like the ones others have previously mentioned once the shock and awe has come down some. Surprised no one has mentioned the belt buckle being wrong just yet.
I also have to agree, it's why I don't post as often as I did in InArt threads, it quickly went from appreciating the amazing looking prototypes to crapping all over Hot Toys and other brands.

It's only natural that as collectors we're going to compare the old and new and that we're all tired of Hot Toys's complacency and yes anyone with a working pair of eyeballs can see the LOTR line from Amsus is nowhere near what we see with this Aragorn but it becomes incredibly tiresome when I open an InArt thread and the discussion has shifted to laughing at figures from other companies, some being over a decade old.

let's judge InArts's work by their own merit and not that of others.

That video....I might have to watch the LOTR movies for the first time ever just to talk myself into buying this figure lol, looks so good
I’m cracking open Fellowship tonight.

I was really surprised at KGHobby's price for premium edition: $448 ($435 if paid in full) with free worldwide shipping.

$298 standard, all in.

Think that's the cheapest I've seen by quite some margin.
I’m avoiding them from now on, they entice you with great prices but are too slow getting figures in. I’m still waiting for Echo.

I actually entered a contract agreement with my wife with how many figures I can order per year 😂. It's actually nice now I dont have to worry if it will be an issue when I want something as long as I control myself. Also don't have to worry about making her angry which is the biggest concern! A lot less stressful now.
Sooo there is no price involved just number of figures? Wow, just get all Inart rooted hair premiums!!

He'd cost ~1K anyhow, so unless he came out a decade from now, after I was done with my big Marvel and SW wants, I doubt I'd be able to swing him.

Dwarves are an abomination, created apart from Eru's Song, and I don't want them anywhere near my Chad Races of Men and Elves. They're manlets!

When will they learn?!

Dwarves. Curses on them!

That's some Conan-Tier filthy Barbarian talk. Wizards are OP. Wizards are the best. Wizards are for enlightened patricians. I always chose either Knights or Wizards in RPGs. Doom's a Wizard. Strange is a Wizard. Wizards are cool, period.

They just need better designs than an old man with a beard...

Kidding aside Gandalf works for me because I see him and Aragorn as Merlyn and Arthur respectively.

Unless that wizard is Saruman.
...I hadn't thought about him. But if I get a Saruman I'll also want an Elrond and/or a Thranduil.

Oh I think they'll pull it off, it'll just be a little more challenging to get the curls right I think. I just hope it's not a half-assed "done because WB ordered us" figure and it's truly as stunning as this Aragorn.

I actually found a tiny bit to nitpick: boots should be higher- but anyhow- this is such a great figure

I will use ACI Anduril and Asmus red shirt to make a ROTK version

I‘m really happy with Asmus Gimli and Viper GTW (have an Asmus head coming so I will choose which is the better head). I also like my ACI Nazgûl

So for me it would just be Legolas and Frodo

Maybe the other Hobbits if the look great
And I would love to have a Lurtz

A Nazgul would be such a waste. Boring black cloak with a hood, a sword and armored arms and legs.

Oooohhhhhh the detail on his feet! Wasted slot.

I wouldn't mind one that actually had a properly tailored cloak/material. :rolleyes2 But yeah in the grand scheme of things, it seems random.

Although I guess it allows them to put out a figure that doesn't have to worry about a sculpt/rooted hair.

apparently making an accurate Nazgul costume is not easy.. at least for the other 1/6 company.

I am looking forward to get InArt's Nazgul and the eventual WitchKing!!

They could add the Witch-King helmet sculpt and mace and make it two figures in one, to me the Witch-King look always looked badass and more memorable than the regular Nazgul look.

Yeah a Witch-King would be great. Would take that over a Nazgul if they had to do one. Both don't require a sculpt either.

Actually ASMUS's GTG is great, yes there is the eye issue but costume wise, and sculpt wise I have no raging need to replace.
Also, and IMO it can't be said enough, ASMUS has produced detailed, accessory loaded figures that are beautiful and also cost effective. I defy any company to produce a Bilbo, Thorin, Gimli, etc. at that price point.
If there are dedicated collectors who can, or wish to, pay for the ultimate figure, I respect that. For me, ASMUS has struck the right balance for what I am willing to pay. Anyone in theory can commission the "ultimate figure" at any time, which would probably run around $1000 or more.

I'm also not inclined to bash HT, who has done some amazing work. In any case, while I picked up this Aragorn, to me the sculpt is one of the best I've seen, but is still not IMO PERFECT. But that doesn't matter, because the production run is the real test. If I owned the original Ranger Aragorn, I wouldn't bother. He's not my favorite character. On the shelf, from a few feet way, it's not gonna make any difference. So I won't be replacing the Helm's Deep ASMUS Aragorn.

Just sayin'. It's always fantastic to get a great sculpt. But there's other considerations like costume, accessories, price.

You getting an Aragorn bud?
He is my favorite LOTR character but dunno if I'm still willing to drop that money for the premium version in this economy, I'll probably get the regular version when it releases or when they put up a second wave of POs much to the horror of elitist collectors. :lol

Witch-King with a beheaded Fellbeast head accessory/base would be pretty nice, I still have the old Toybiz versions stored somewhere I used to have all the fellowship but I think most of it was lost or carelessly given away, my favorite was the Aragorn and Brego set, the figures weren't amazing by any means but at the time it was nice having such a complete LOTR collection.
