What makes things difficult is when you have several different lines being collected and/or a huge one like Star Wars. I've managed to skip quite a number of figures that other Star Wars fans would call me crazy for doing so... (Snowspeeder Luke and the ROTJ Scout Trooper set, just to name two!).

Now throw into the mix those occasional unexpected or one-off figures ("Mad Max" Wez and DX15 Jack Sparrow, for example) and it gets even more difficult to pass on. I'm a sucker for figures from 1980's films, too.

Finally, the constant nemesis of our hobby, the eventual upgrading of figures, has been chipping away at my enjoyment, as well. It is fine when it is just for a few special or project figures, such as the "Raiders" Indy but when it is a regularly released figure as a 2.0, 3.0, etc., it gets frustrating very fast.

While some would be fine with, for example, just a Gandalf the Gray and perhaps Frodo from InArt, I would be going crazy if I couldn't complete at least the Fellowship Nine. That's the slippery slope. "9" InArt Figures (if they were to do the nine) would be super-expensive.

I get back to saying that I know that I'm sliding into home plate, as far as my 1/6 scale collecting days go. Another eventual purge is in the horizon but it is always a difficult decision, as I'm a picky purchaser to begin with.

Well, I don't want to derail this thread any further. I'm definitely in for the new InArt Aragorn figure!

I fully agree with that, I'm in exactly the same situation. Quality over Quantity yes, but still some lines want to have many figures. I thought about getting just like 1-2 main characters from each thing I'm interested in like Jon Snow & Dany, Geralt and Ciri, Aragorn and Gandalf, Luke and Vader...but it just doesn't feel right.
Also a fan of 1980 movies and want many cool one of chars.
Kitbashing and often buying whole figures just for reassembling is another thing I want to have funds for as they get me the long time fun and crafting fun.
And then there is my heart for ancient history figures as a main collection project

Too many lines, too many great figures aaaah


Well anyway, there is definately a sign that people value high quality or InArt couldn't survive with the high prices.

I still find it hard to believe people spend serious money on statues with abysmal sculpts like that.

Never seen a Prime1 statue that looks impressive yet people keep buying them.

I would rephrase and say it retails for about $1000+. “Worth” a $1000 is debatable :lol I would definitely argue against it being worth $1000

Whereas the InArt will retail for $500 and be worth ten of the P1 statues! What a beauty!!

Nah, I fully trust that they’ve ironed out all the little flaws with the initial proto. That thing must have been a rush job just so they could have at least one new figure unveiled at the Soirée show out of the 6 or more they originally claimed we’d be seeing.
Oh boy. Time to see what I’ve got worth selling. These InArt purchases always ravage me financially.
 
I wonder how many preorders will go up for sale this year for InArt. Will they only do a handful again, or try to get out all figures on that list?

Even at $400-500 apiece if they are releasing 10 or less a year, that's not bad comparing to amount of Hot Toys releases.
 
This Aragorn really does look wonderful and special, but I must hold off. I'll be waiting for the ROTK version, even if I prefer TFOTR out of the three films.

Going off just their previously posted slate, I'm in for 3 IA dollies this year:
  • BaleMan
  • Paul
  • SuperCavill (it's a maybe for now)
BaleMan to go with my Joker, self-explainatory. Paul I've been waiting for too long and I'm anxious because I still have that AUGToys one on PO and I want to see IA's offering before I cancel, just to be sure. However, they did mention in previous streams that they were working on ~3 figures IIRC, and DUNC 2 is out this year, so who knows if someone like Leto goes up for PO too. I wasn't planning on getting Superman, but with Cavill gone after such a disastrous run, and with this year being Superman's 85th Anniversary, I'm thinking it'll be a figure worth having. Then we have things like Neo and Harry Potter, who have been announced and I want, but we don't know when they're coming or which version they'll go for. And for you fellas wanting Phoenix Joker, you better plan for at 1K as that's the minimum.

So yeah, it's a packed year alright. And we have to consider rooted options too. I'll be going rooted for Paul, so that's at least 500$. His Stillsuit being complicated might raise the price. And that's if he doesn't get a two pack option like Joker with another outfit. BaleMan could get a Bruce Wayne to accompany him. Superman... well, I can't think of anything bar rooted hair, and I'm not sure how they'd benefit a short cut such as his.

In the end, buying 2-4 InArt figures a year is the same as buying 4-8 HT a year... and we all know you and many others buy more than 4-8 HT figures a year. So InArt is actually saving you money!!! It's a Christmas miracle!

I have a wishlist of ~15 HT/IA/EXO-6 for this year. Granted I'm also counting stuff from 2022's flicks that haven't been shown yet, and such a list would bleed into 2024 too, but you get the point. And that's without the ROTJ/TCW Anniversaries. Or any surprises. And I also have 2 open POs. And I need ~50 Omnibuses. Help...

When I look at those 1K statues in promo pics I always wish I had the money and space for them. Then I look at in-hand pics and they always look flat, lifeless and disappointing. I'm sure a bit of it is cope on my part, but rarely do I see a statue be truly worth its money on the painting department.

Same goes for the statue that Weta made. It's kind of crazy how Inart's version is probably the best we've seen at an attempt on his likeness on a licensed product.
