I hope it’s a ploy. Because I want one :(
Yeah, I want 2... One for phase I & II.

But then I decided on waiting to see how this guy matched the Clone Pilot and if one of the buckets would look good on that body since he has some weathering instead of 2 perfectly clean Clones. Not really interested in having the Pilot himself.

I should've PO'd at least 1.. But I'm pretty confident these are not sold out.

Damn the day I’m ******* out of town in business, SS pulls this ****! 12 days or so before Xmas they just kick anyone contemplating getting this with a bonus or for a Xmas gift right in the ******* balls. Thanks SS. 😐 Merry ******* Christmas

If a bunch of these figures don’t return when they’re released, I will eat part of a Hot Toys shipper box.

I hear you, but my mind goes to the 501st tbh. Those are G O N E. I’m just pissed.

I’m not convinced that because they’re supposed to be army builders they won’t sell out. The 501st and Coruscant Guards stayed in stock quite a while so these might be smaller runs.

That said I’m not entirely convinced that the figure is sold out just yet and I think Sideshow is playing the FOMO game a bit to capitalize on getting people to pre-order after Anakin and Padme.

I fully understand the idea of companies trying to get “into the black” this time of year but when your clientele is collectors, there is quite a bit of emotional fear of missing your “only” opportunity to acquire a piece that may be required to complete a collection. If there truly is a shorter run in production, just say so…then it will be on us if me miss it. I spent over $500 yesterday morning that I didnt plan on spending until a bit later just because the clone pilot went to “low stock”. Fortunately I am in a position that I can afford it, but I think about a lot of collectors on here who really balance out which figures to pick up and which ones they have to let slip by because it is a financial strain.
Collecting is supposed to be fun, not a constant series of Now or Never decision making.

Yeah I had $1,500 worth of items IN my cart, including the pilot, a couple clones and a couple battle droids, to preorder as a gift for myself for Xmas…until SS pulled this crap. Been with these guys since SS Jedi Luke and this is how they do? I never went HK save for my 3rd party stuff. These “influencers” throw shade at them constantly and they just turn around and prove em right. Dirty pool man.
I guess I’ll be getting my first HK/China direct HT figures. 🤷🏾‍♂️

To be fair though, the 501st were in-stock for about 11 months.

Going forward I don't think we'll see figures in-stock as long as we do now, but they'll get in-stock. You'll get the occasional Heavy Mando scenario but don't think any of these AoTC figures will be like that.

That is annoying and I sympathize. Cutting off preorders like this is going to come back to bite them. I think it’s a terrible strategy that is not going to work like they want it to.

That said, I do still think it’s just a strategy; a bad marketing tactic. They’ll come back, especially these army builders.

The 501st figures were around for almost a year though. And they were being discounted. There was plenty to go around, as with most figures of this cycle.

They are going to do what they can to avoid repeating what’s happening now, but I don’t think these figures are gone.

I think this will mirror the post TFA Rogue One scenario.

They overproduced TFA figures versus demand, so Rogue One figures got shorted. But they were still available at release, just in smaller numbers.

Similarly they overproduced this current crop of figures so the next lot will get shorted. But they’re not going to produce only enough for preorders.

There’ll be stock to go around. I just wouldn’t expect everything to be around for longer than a few months.

No panic, just was really trying to support the stores in the states but they just want to 💩 on folks. I never ever agreed with this NoDOPO movement b/c it hurts companies and ultimately the collectors. Totally understand and saw this a year ago that all this stock sitting around was not good understanding retail, it’s not like SS can sell old stock to Big Lots or something.

I haven’t pre-ordered Hot Toys figures from them previously, but I see where ToyWiz has this guy for $209.99. Kinda thinking of getting mine there rather than keeping my Sideshow waitlist.

Edit: maybe not.. looks like they have crazy shipping prices. Not sure if they’re just factoring in for the holiday rush or what.

If the US stores won’t support their US customer base, I guess it’s time to hit up Tee Dubbs!

Popcultcha OR Hong Kong will be my place to buy from, ebay next.
Sometimes I've found when Etailers in Aus get their stock and place listing on ebay, and Ebay has a code...voila,cheaper figure 😉
Not really panicking or having FOMO here.
Patience is the key.

Why do you feel like US stores won’t support US customers? There are numerous reliable authorized retailers that I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences with.
