Are these the same sculpts Asmus? To my eye they appear to be different?
Not even close to same. The new one with elven vibes and 70s haircut….pfft. Asmus can’t seem to get out of their own way sometimes with a step forward, maybe two, then something like this released. 🤦‍♂️

I'm quite torn on this. I'd like to get a Boromir. This seems like a good opportunity to get a Boromir. But this Boromir?

Other than the eyes being too squinty and the Vulcan eye brows I don’t think it’s bad. I just don’t know if it’s better than the first version and if I really need to get it.

Some of the pictures looked pretty decent. Some not as good.

I think what bothers me about this is that the last two releases were so incredibly good. Asmus not only hit home runs with the Bilbo and Gandalf the White figures, it seemed like they were hitting the reset button after that Ash Williams debacle and announcing themselves as capable of being among the top producers in the game. The sculpt for the Boromir update looked so good when it was shown, spot on without the paint. And then someone signed off on this as good enough, rather than making sure what was shown in that sculpt made it to release.

This happened after those Last Alliance figures, Elrond and Gimli came out. Everyone was riding high on Asmus on then Galadriel came out and it was just subpar. Nice overall but the sculpt/paint could have, and should have been better.

We know Asmus is capable of putting out Hot Toys/Damtoys level of quality. They literally just did it with their last two figures. But this just feels like a cut corner, maybe because it's a re-release. I'm going to buy it because I want Asmus to succeed long term. I want Gil-Galad, Eowyn, Haldir, Isildur, a Faramir refresh, and I want them all to look as good as Bilbo did. So I'll support them - but I want Boromir 3.0 before I even have Boromir 2.0 and that's a bit sad.

My hope is that the in hand pictures bring out a little more life in the sculpt, but it just feels too soft in these pictures. Here's hoping @CREG Customs gets a good Sean Bean as Boromir sculpt on his site so we can finally have the Boromir we deserve.

No elven cape? Seriously... this is a very underwhelming release, not even a proper reissue and certainly no 2.0.

I see Asmus is getting dragged pretty hard for the sculpt on all of their socials. I do hope they learn from this.

The constant hit and miss is very frustrating because we know they can do great work.

Releasing this with less accessories and a headsculpt that at best is on par with the previous one feels like a big step back again.

And that’s why it’s so frustrating. Imagine the hype that would be around Asmus if they hit a third home run in a row. There’s more Hot Toys haters than ever, although perhaps some of them are putting that aside with today’s announcements. Asmus had a real chance to make their mark and they missed it. Now, all that good will needs to be rebuilt, again. I hate to see it.

How's that an improvement from my V1?

v1 has a slighty better likeness and was offered in sculpted and rooted options so you could choose which version you prefer to buy... this v2 seems a 0.5 in comparison... less options, less accessories, worse likeness. I think that's the worst Asmus lotr in years...

Asmus you posted these images in post 944. Your very next post, 945 you said you were anxious to get this wonderful head sculpt out and you really wanted to nail it. Lots of positive feedback on it. To my eye this sculpt is better. Why the change? The company has done this before. You release images, we love it, you make something else. I, and many of your loyal supporters, don’t get it. Please explain?
