I think the water tribe is a way (of water) for him to try and expand the lore. But they're still blue monkies, just under the sea, under the sea, darlin' it's better, down where it's wetter. . .

Yes, but its still all too similar -- flying through the blue sky or flying through the blue sea. I'm certain Cameron will make the underwater shots pure magic to look at... one time. But that same 'lingering on the beauty' (that drives a 3-hour runt time) is also the thing that kills repeat viewings.

Cameron thinks Avatar will be LOTR epic lol
A few years ago Avatar 2 was supposedly going to "make us **** our pants with our mouths wide open" (whatever the hell that means, lol.) But now he's claiming that the pandemic and streaming services have made people not like awesome movies any more. :cuckoo:

Setting it up for a letdown- that letdown for him is not being the #1 or 2 highest grossing film of all time. He would not like #10 or 15.
He really must feel it's not going to be the end-all of blockbusters

Maybe he should have just released it when it was… idk popular and gaining traction but he decided it was an awesome idea to not do anything and just tell people how good it was going to be. Great plan

Does anyone think this won’t be as good as the original because there is no military involved

I already saw this movie in 2009. :lol

Seriously, looks exactly the same. "You have to ride". "Just breathe". Military battle machine vs natural blue cats. I just don't get why Cameron made something so derivative of his own movie.
His ego…he still wants to prove to Hollywood ..he is a still a great director when people still doubt him

Exactly my thought after watching the trailer. This appears to be a remake of the first one. But wetter.

Trailer looks really good. I'm sure there are new concepts that they are not giving away so obviously in the trailer so the similar vibes might be there instead for a reason. The first movie didn't have the most complex arc or story, so I'm not walking into this one expecting something different either. It doesn't really need a complex story to be a great movie, just look at Top Gun Maverick

Meh. I'm not interested in another HUMANZ BAD narrative. I'm not gonna cheer for your Blue Alien CatMonkeys, Cameron. Couldn't you just commission some high-end furry art and let us be? If I watch it, it'll be solely for the underwater/sea stuff and aesthetics. The MCU blew the load with Namor, so I may get my sea fix here. But I don't understand how a man thinks he's going to make some huge sprawling franchise out of villainising his own species and focusing on some ugly aliens with bows and derivative animal designs. I just can't wrap my head around it.

I will say that the Sea MonkeyCats look better than the Forrest MonkeyCats. Maybe the more vibrant colour, maybe the tattoos, they look better to me. As for dollies, no thanks. Jake SOOL-EE is a traitor to his people and a DYEL lanklet. Look at him next to Tonowari who looks like a Chad. Even the dreads/braids look better on Tonowari. The nose looks more human too, so maybe that's helping me empathize more, dunno.

If I had to pick an Alien Blue MonkeyCat Clan, I'm Team Metkayina Clan all the way.

Gotta love the hyperbole... was was it? "The Movie Event of a Generation"? :lol
I'm not sure if I want to pay to see this in the theatres. Just doesn't even begin to interest me. As everyone's been pointing out, it just seems to be the same story, only wet. I wish we could still get sequels that actually brought something new to the story, instead of just being the same story with some new flashy things... you know, stuff like Empire Strikes Back, Road Warrior, The Godfather Part II, hell, even Top Gun Maverick brings something new to the story!

James Cameron recently said he has the best streaming service ever. His dreams where he gets his ideas
