So far this year, we have four ‘89 Batman merchandise products that have Michael Keaton's likeness.

- Iron Studios 1/10 Batman statue
- Ikon Collectables anniversary statue
- Mezco stylized Batman figure
- Mezco Batman 1:12 figure

The Mezco figures in particular look just like him and there are several Beetlejuice items on the horizon.

So that whole rumor going around where Michael Keaton and his estate supposedly didn’t want merchandise made of him seems like total BS. If Prime 1 can make several versions and scales of Bale and Affleck and the Arkham video game Batman, I don’t see why they couldn’t do or wouldn’t want to do a Keaton. Seems like a no brainer when you’re producing that many Batman statues and you go out of your way announce and tease said item. A licensing issue? It didn’t stop them from producing all the other Batmen they’ve made. It hasn’t stopped these much smaller companies from making him.

If it had something to do with the approving the unmasked Bruce Wayne portrait they had planned (which was gorgeous), why not just drop it and do a couple of regular cowled heads? People want Batman anyway, not Bruce Wayne unmasked. Kinda lame. I was really curious what pose and base they would have went with for him. Something with the cathedral and those laughing gargoyles woulda been cool.

Out of curiosity, what’s the Beetlejuice stuff you’re talking about? I saw one of those designer series figures from a Mezco, but if there’s some other stuff I haven’t seen that’s a bit more...normal, I’d love to take a gander at it.

For many people this would be the ultimate Batman collectible, I know it would be for me. It’s a shame they dropped it.

has anyone asked them whether this could still happen, just in 1/5 scale instead of 1/3?

Most people that would want 1/3 or 1/2 wouldn't buy a 1/5 even if they did.

Not sure this is true. I suspect that the majority who are interested in this would be excited for a 1/5 Keaton statue, even more so, if they were to make all the other Burton Batman characters somewhere down the line

I for one only interested in 1/3 keaton because i have already 1/4 SS version.

Deathmarks don't come with the rain.

I just want a Keaton statue that is accurate. I have the 1/4 SS version but I see it more as a comic representation of the character.

I myself have zero interest in a 1/5 scale piece for this character after having the Sideshow piece (which I love, as I couldn't care less about the neck twist).

It'll have to be either 1/3 scale or 1/2 scale for me to even consider it now. Heck I rather get the 1/10 scale than a 1/5 scale piece.

There may be different collectors for those pieces, but probably not many of the same people that wanted the 1/3. I would probably just get the 1/6 Hot Toys version again instead of a 1/5 fail scale statue.

Different collectors (those who don't have room for 1/3) would replace a large minority I suspect who voice their disappointment here openly but I don't think not too many people who would have bought this in 1/3 wouldn't be interested in a 1/5 Batman 89 line.

Anyway, that's just a theory & it would be nice if someone who's in touch with them on facebook could ask whether this is still an option.

Why is there so much hostility towards 1/5 scale here? Lots of love for 1/3, 1/4 and even 1/6 scale but 1/5 is looked at with disdain. I don't get it. :dunno

I'd love to see Prime 1 make a Keaton Batman. Ideally 1/3 scale with a manageable base but if it was 1/5 I certainly wouldn't complain...especially if they did a Nicholson Joker and Pfeiffer Catwoman to! Given Prime 1's quality it would almost certainly be better than any Keaton stuff produced previously.

For me the 1/5 scale just doesn't work in my collection. Note I collect many scales including 1/10, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3 and I even have a few 1/2 scales pieces. It's just that the scale is neither here nor there. With the other scales the scale difference just feels more significant, and it makes it easier to segregate my collection, even with different scaled pieces relatively close to each other. As going from 1/6 to 1/4 is 50% bigger, like it is when I go from 1/3 to 1/2 scale. Though going from 1/4 to 1/3 is 'only' 33% bigger, the presence imo feels more that that. Whereas the 1/5 scale difference of 20/25% just doesn't provide a big enough visual distinction. As was mentioned I might as well go for the scales on either side.

However if I was just starting my collection, I may well feel different given that the state of the 1/4 line to me isn't what it used to be, and I'm slowing down on my Hot Toys purchases.

There are simply less 1/5 scale out there, therefore many find it hard to fit in with their collection. If it had started out as the norm then we would be more receptive to it, but most of us have too many different scales on the go as it is

I'm old enough to remember that there wasn't as much love for 1/3 in the beginning as there is now, and many people who said that 1/3 isn't for them ended up buying Prime 1's Arkham Knight line; pretty sure that many (not all ofc) people who now respond this way would get into it after all. Especially 89/92 fanatics.

I think it was the comparative quality of Prime 1’s statues that turned people onto their Arkham line, and 1/3 in general. They were just so impressive compared to the competition. I can see a lot of people who haven't played the games getting involved in this line too

Honestly I’ve only played Arkham Knight the whole way through as it was the first one I played. But for whatever reason I find it hard to get going on Arkham Asylum. Been trying on the updated versions. Maybe I should just give up and jump to Arkham City.

Heck, because there was a little sale at my local retailer I just bought and finished unboxing a couple of 1/3 statues an hour ago, and they’re both just so damn beautiful. More so Two Face, but Scarecrow is almost as good. It’s relatively simple, and yet highly detailed and impressive at the same time.

I asked prime 1 studios directly if they were going to make the 1/3 89 Batman, and I received an email from them on the 15th of February this year, and they said they are still considering it[I didn't mention this earlier, as I only just found the email].There is still hope my fellow forum members......
