If this is what you consider stress I’d like to switch places with you. I for one am happy I had a heads up in advance
Thanks for your input/personal comment, but I think you need to reread my post. I wasn't talking from my point of view or thinking of just myself. I only noticed online that people were anxious to be at their computers at dead on 9AM and were fretting about missing out because of the over-hyping. Also, if you think I'm stressed, why would you want to switch places? That makes no sense. It's not about a 'heads-up' as Nanjin is always good about that, but telling people to rush for fear of missing out.

I agree about touting something as limited and that being a bit overblown. Sure the figure sold well and through its stock from EXO-6 directly, but it’s still pretty available through a number of places.

Like I was saying earlier it’s similar to the way Michael Burnham was being touted as limited but months later is still available. I’ll be curious if the same is true of Kirk and Spock.

I like the figures and I appreciate the work done by Nanjin, but at times it feels like he hyped things up so collectors want to rush to buy and so he can brag about selling out of something fast (even though that’s just through the EXO-6 site directly and not other online retailers).

Exacty my point. I think collectors can relax about Spock, with the likliehood that he'll be a similar produced qty to Kirk.

Seems like TWOK will all be pre-order, which will be better.

In my opinion, over-hyping the limited availability causes unnecersary stress for collectors. Nanjin is guilty of this - stoking fear of missing out. Some people thought they'd go in minutes and the site would crash again. Reality is it still took hours to sell even with "extremely limited supplies - don't miss out or you'll regret it!!". Sideshow still apparently have him in stock 2 days later. Collecting is supposed to be fun.
Since Sideshow doesn’t actually have stock yet and working on “pre-orders” I wouldnt bet they know exactly how many they will actually get.

Forgive me if it’s been mentioned already, but are they going to release Kolinahr Spock with the shaggy hair as an alternative head? I kind like that look, brief as it was.
I was watching the beginning of TMP last night. I think “Kolinar” may be a misrepresentation of this figure. Spock is in a different outfit and look during that ritual scene than he is as he shows up from the shuttle to the Enterprise.

Nanjin has stated that each figure is the version when they first returned to the Enterprise. Call them what you like.

Can he not be persuaded to do the doc uniform? I would assume it's too late anway.

Yeah. That's why I said 'apparently' they still have them :lol

Spock had his clean, classic hair cut by the time he reached the Enterprise and it would have been a completely different costume with that hairstyle.

If only! No, Nanjin decided that he was going with the versions that he's done. That was his theme for TMP. He's moving on to other characters now. The sculpt is finalised I expect.

I can't decide whether to go white or grey for a custom uniform. Chapel only wore her grey uniform briefly in the final scene. She's wearing the grey one-piece in the early promo shots but I am going to save jumpsuit uniforms for the non-coms. I would quite like all the crew to have the Enterprise Delta but I could live with a white uniform with Enterprise Delta. Given all the uniform variants, I'm sure that was one of them, plus if I'm going for bearded McCoy in a uniform, I'm in Phase II 'screen plausible' rather than screen accurate territory.

I'm worried that white might get grubby but I will probably put Shran in a white jumpsuit (per the Andorian on the Rec-Deck) and maybe a Saurian engineer, aiming to add a few background aliens into the collection.

Has Nanjin ever mentioned doing figures from Star Trek III Search for Spock? Visually they could be quite interesting (thinking Spock in the white robes from the end of the movie and Kirk in his uniform but with the leather jacket).

The outfits worn in both The Search For Spock and The Voyage Home are kind of interesting alternate looks for the crew. The thing is how many variations do we really want/need?
