I sincerely hope that you are not basing this decision based on a few criticisms on a website. The thing isn't even up for pre-order yet. Do you not think that every great artist has their critics, no matter how good they are?
I agree with the comments on the pants, you've gone for the boot-cut look though a little too much. But, that's being fixed.
Lim has done the impossible, which is producing a quality figure, a ton of accessories and looks, at a great price point. And you've pulled off the headsculpts especially one for a PS3 game which had older graphics and less facial expression that are capable on a newer generation console. I was going to get one but I'm now considering two, which I wasn't expecting.
Suck it up, be confident in your work, move on. I look forward to Dutch and Sadie.
Well said my friend, watch the pre orders go like mad for the Outlaw and Sculpt.

The thing with those pictures is they are mods, not what's actually in the game or the accurate colors, as I mentioned before the main look of the figure is the Epilogue from the second game with with the correct head structure and hair but we will fix any issues according to criticism, the pants will definitely be fixed and the vest we'll look at the tailoring.

As far as the first game head maybe it doesn't come across well in the promo but I also think there's a lot of judgement happening based off an idea of what he looks like based on memory and not the game itself, in hand I think he looks quite close to that pic we just toned down the cartoon aspect with the exagerated textures around the eyes and nose.
100% agree.
The pants will be fixed.

You get it after doing a few very rage inducing hunting missions for an old taxidermist lady, JM is quite fond of it and thinks it's "art" much to the dislike of his wife who constantly hides is in the most outlandish places, including a mountain top, once you find and retrieve the squirrel from all it's hiding places you get the "It's Art" trophy for your efforts.
That mission provided some very.. intense emotions but with its inclusion in this figure, it makes even more rewarding. Both sculpts are excellent as well as the figure overall. Rdr1 sculpt looks exactly how it should since it’s based off of that game so the criticism is a bit confusing towards it. However, do trust that we (especially me) support lim as a company bc of how much care is put into the process of your creation. We see that you all do the best you can and accept criticism, which I believe enables us all to believe in lims vision even more. So with that being said, your work is appreciated. I’ll be ordering day one.

Another thing adding to what I said earlier, 'if' you produce Dutch and Sadie, I would suggest Lim saving the money and increase their profit margin - if it helps - by not including anywhere near as many accessories for those two figures. You've done your 1/6 fans proud by providing great figures of the two main playable characters of each game. The other figures don't need as much. Of course, this is me from the outside looking in, I'm sure there are other factors to consider.

No, we'll probably cancel Dutch too, response to this and sickly sculpt hasn't been what we anticipated.
Hey man, I get that seeing a bunch of criticism after you’ve poured your heart and soul into a project is nothing short of deflating. I don’t know what everyone here does for a living but I’m sure they wouldn’t appreciate a bunch of nitpicking from their boss or coworkers or friends or whatever. But don’t let that get you down.

Collectors are such a pain in the ass. I have a friend who makes hand painted hockey figurines, he repaints old McFarlane figures and turns them into real works of art. He’s long been one of the best in the hobby and he’s actually pushing innovation now. He got so tired of dealing with collectors that he essentially started phasing them out and only working with pro/college athletes to make stuff from them.

He’s said for years that collectors want things fast and they want things perfect, but even if you produce perfect they’ll still find something wrong with it until it’s on their shelf. Point being - yes, there’s a few inaccuracies with this figure. The pants need to be addressed, and you said you’ll do that. There’s something a little off about that RDR1 sculpt, but with the RDR2 sculpt looking perfect, who cares.

You and your team have created an absolute work of art. I think you’re top three in the sixth scale game right now with Hot Toys and Damtoys. And unlike Hot Toys, you’re producing magnificent work without getting boring/complacent.

Forget the naysayers. Collectors are a difficult group. Don’t let it ruin your passion. The art you’ve created is special. It’s going to look stunning next to Arthur. And if you do keep it up and bless us with a Dutch figure, it will looking incredible with him too.

People can nitpick all they want but you’re still going to see a ton of orders. After the Arthur figure and it’s delays you’ve handled every challenge with grace and you’ll weather this too.

Don’t be afraid to let constructive criticism help this guide you to make things better, but drown out the crap. Odds are those same people will be talking about how much they love the figure three months after release.

Looks amazing and is everything I wanted from a JM figure and more. Can't wait to grab two of these to display with both outfits! Limtoys is killing it and giving collectors figures that they would never have otherwise had the opportunity to own. Please keep it up!

Yes I concur, once I have decided on a figures look I stay with it. The rest of the parts are not used. I have many such parts.

Nothing that hasn't been said already but felt I needed to add:

To me, this looks amazing. Near perfect and you've already said the things that aren't perfect will be fixed in the release.

I played the original game several times at release, one of my favourite pieces of entertainment across any medium. I grew very attached to John. Maybe it was where I was at that time in my life. I was probably one of the few people that was more excited about hearing more of John's story than anything else when RDR2 was announced, and while I grew very fond of Arthur, John was still the character I resonated with most. And this piece right here? It's John. And for that, I would like to thank you, for bringing something that means a lot to me (and I suspect a whole lot of other people) to life.

And also, a big thank you to whoever is responsible for the promo images at LIM for take such amazing pictures, and lots of them. Cause I know you guys take your time (which we appreciate, getting things right), and these pictures will tide me over as I await (silently, without complaint).

Sorry for the short story, again, thank you.

Silently without complaint is good, however we cannot be silent when it comes to Dutch.

And I honestly think the 1907 sculpt is better than the other, with the hat on. Don't think I would even get this figure if it only had the RDR2 look personally. People have a weird nostaglic idea of how he looked in the first game, which was much more cartoonish in nature. I think you guys did a great job. His RDR1 sculpt just had a permanent scolded eyebrow attached to his face.

I second this comment. I think the graphical fidelity of the 1907 head is right where it needs to be, but the expression isn't. That scowl is what we need. The current version is too neutral, too calm.

My buddy who doesn't collect toys at all wants this figure so bad it hurts. When I told him Lim was making one, he just go so excited. JM means a lot to him, RRR being his favorite game and RRR2 being the only game he plays regularly, has for years. I too am loving this figure, will be getting it without hesitation.

I agree that pictures probably don't really represent how the sculpt looks in hand, is this still horrible? We're honestly considering just completely removing it from the whole pack because nobody seems to like it.

These close ups look much better imo. I think the promo pics probably don't look as good, because you can't really see all the lines and small details. Please don't cancel this or Dutch!

@R_R_X I think the main issue in the promo pics is that he looks too young and pretty. In the first game, he looked weathered and aged. These pics look a lit better. As you mentioned though, you left out some of the rougher details around the eyes and nose. I think those details are what help to make him look leathery and ruthless. Adding a little more depth/color to the scars and his wrinkles and eyes might help to roughen him up a little. It could maybe take a great head sculpt into perfect territory.

Just to clarify, I love this figure and all the work you do. I just wanted to add what I hope is some constructive criticism, since you genuinely asked what people find off about the sculpt. I also think its great you're listening to feedback and altering the pants.

I can't wait to preorder soon. Keep up the great work.
