You were expecting less than $175 somehow? When was the last time you saw a figure at that price from -any- major licensed property? Hot Toys was charging that much a decade ago.
Very true. Look at what Star Ace charge for their junk!
Many unlicensed figures can easily be around or above 175. Not sure what people expect?

The price on this great given similar offerings from other companies. Given the 'exclusive' nature of this release if it was from Hot Toys you could expect at least another 100usd added to that asking price and I doubt the figure would be any better from them except the paint department.

TMP Spock is what I have been most looking forward to from the entire line. If he comes out looking cross-eyed, I will be inconsolable. I mean, it’s not Columbo eyes, but I do see it.

After this and Tuvok, are all Vulcans going to have this issue?

Regarding TMP pricing.... yeah, I don't really know what people were expecting, but in an age where Hot Toys and even Star Ace(!) are regularly charging around the $300 mark, and where we're seeing $400+ Kurt Cobains and Gandalfs... $175 seems pretty darn reasonable. Who's making 1/6 figures for less, to the quality we're seeing here from EXO-6? I know I'm not 100% objective when it comes to EXO-6, but the pricing seems pretty fair.

As for the less-than-flattering early photos... well, we've seen it happen again and again with early shots, and everyone panics. Check out the Inart Jokor thread for how quickly panic sets in with some bad photos, and then it turns around again just as quickly. Perhaps it really will be a dropoff from the proto, which we're used to seeing from most companies, but have come to expect EXO releases to look better than the prototypes. Time will tell - and probably quickly - as we'll have this TMP Kirk in hand in a matter of weeks.

Max , … I don’t remember the last time I saw a figure at that price.
… but Nanjin made a BIG deal at how affordable these would be... on more than one occasion. So YES ... I expected a lot less. w Janeway @ $ 189, Mirror Spock and the others @ $ 199 AND the EMH @ the same $ 175 I don’t see $ 175 at a BIG drop off. I don’t mind paying the $ 175, but the forum needs to take Nanjins word with a grain of salt ———- and I’m tired of hearing about HOT TOYS. I don’t believe I’ve purchased anything from them since Capt Jack Sparrow until last night with Sideshows BOGO sale.

Affordable to 1/6 collectors is not the same as affordable to normal people. Make sure you apply the correct level of interpretation or your disappointment is on you. When you say you were expecting them to cost a lot less, what figure were you expecting? I think QMX Sulu cost $150 about 5 years ago. Costs have gone up a lot since then.

I won’t be getting TMP Kirk but for those who do want to know more, I’ve just received an email from Planet Action Figs. The guy looks like he’ll go fast, so heads up:

TMP Kirk

The response to this figure has been overwhelming. I can confirm we will be carrying it and orders will go live at 5pm UK time.....today. To create a fair playing field we have not reserved any for anyone. Our entire allocation will go live at 5pm. Although I have spoken to the owner of Exo-6 and first dibbed any other retailers canceled orders it is highly unlikely there will be more after this initial order. It is small! Only 24 pieces.

Some of these complainers on here remind me of that old Ricky Nelson song that goes:

But it's all right now
I learned my lesson well
You see ya can't please everyone
So ya got to please yourself
True, but this is a forum where people should be free to express their opinions and concerns without fear of being put down for their views, especially if they're differnt from the majority of others.

Far more posts praise these figures than criticize them, yet we don't get tired of those.

All opinions are welcome so long as they're reasonable and expressed with civility.

Valid criticism can lead to improvements, and avoid the downsides resulting from an echo chamber.

The important rule that applies to all is:

We will not tolerate anyone insulting others' opinions or name-calling.

Oof. Looks like Kirk goes live while I am still at work so unless I can take a break I'm going to miss out.

If I don't get one I guess it's back to customising my own. Fingers crossed!

I think I'll hold off on going for this one. The Wrath of Khan trio would make for a better set in my opinion.
