I thought Janeway's HS looked like a cheap doll, Tuvok has a bad paint, and 7-of-9 looks soft. But I personally think Chakotay looks good, as long as production lives up to the images shown so far.

It depends what you want from your "Museum Grade" figure, I guess. People have different expectations for their two hundred bucks, and my uncanny valley senses are set quite high.

I'm on the fence with TMP. They're the figures I was really looking forward to, and the prototypes look great. However, I'm not going to buy a flat painted figure for $175+delivery for basically a body and uniform, and then pay another $150 to have the HS redone.

So, it boils down to whether they're bad pictures and will look great in-hand or not. That's the gamble. Collecting is about personal choices.

I agree with this. The gamble here is, these are purported to by very limited (could just be marketing spin, but that’s what has been communicated) so if they turn out great, and you wait, $175 plus shipping will seem like a distant dream if you try to pick them up off of the secondary market.

Yeah, I'm not feeling these new head sculpts. Kirk looks drunk and Spoken vampiric. Wasn't a fan of Michael Burnham sculpt either. Exo is getting the figures out but would rather wait longer for better head sculpts. Imo single most important part of a premium 1/6 figure
I think - broadly - people tend to confuse the rapid speed of release with a shorter development time. While these figures are coming out fast and regular (and how refreshing is that? *cough*Big Chief Studios*cough*), what we're seeing now has been in development for years in some cases.

EXO-6's process sees a lot of development being done behind closed doors long before anything is even teased.
Most sculpts go through at least six-twelve months of revisions before anything is seen publicly, and some are worked on much longer - and I'm glad for that because I agree that the head sculpt is by far the most important aspect.

As for the final outcome, well, that's always a gamble, and the quality of the likeness can often be quite subjective - what works for some people (I love my Tuvok) might not work for others.

I dunno, maybe I’m easily pleased but this photo of both figures look pretty great to me. Sculpt, paint look fine. I think EXO-6 have earned the benefit of the doubt to wait to see what they look like in hand as previous experience has shown they don’t often take the greatest of photos.

Spock looks cross-eyed in this picture. I hope he's not another Tuvok.

Kirk looks great.

I'm not sure if it is the lighting affecting these two sculpts but they both suffer from the same photography issue: In some pics, they capture the actors well. In others, there appears to be a drop in resemblance. I'm still getting them both plus Bearded Bones, though.

Edit: I LOVE those outfits, too. Amazing work.

I agree, collecting 1/6 figures is always about personal choices. The counterpoint is, of course that these are by far the best figures of these characters than have ever come before and I am never going to see better versions of these characters in my lifetime. It's not really a hard choice for me.

Spock is clearly cross-eyed - been staring at his console too long - but if that can be fixed then the sculpt is mostly fine. It's not too late to catch a noticeable flaw like that and fix it before shipping.

I can see some other issues, like the top of the head around the hairpiece being too big and full, and the paint a bit too dark and theatrical under the eyes, but those are negligible. There's a good sculpt under there and the figure will likely look fine in-hand.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. Hasn't quite dissuaded me from buying but is noticeable.

Yeah I really don't understand the heavy shadowing under his eyes.

Someone needs to take a camera away from Najin....his strength isn't photography. Never has been.

Another disappointing paint app on the production sample in my book. The proto photos on TMP Spock were breathtaking. This looks like a doll. I’m sure lighting will help. And at $175, there’s still no way I’m skipping either TMP release…..but still 😬

These are two completely different sculpts ! I mean: LOOK at the hairline alone !

These have been delayed and delayed and redeveloped and sent back for whatever reason or purpose or approval for months now. The recent photos seem to be a set back. $ 175 is not the unbelievable super affordable price break I was expecting. All that said , I expect to be at the ready to order when able to to. I hope Kirk will look better “in hand” and perhaps the 1:1 badge will justify some of the price. If the Kirk sculpt and paint isn’t good , do we have any expectation that TWOK will be any better ?

You were expecting less than $175 somehow? When was the last time you saw a figure at that price from -any- major licensed property? Hot Toys was charging that much a decade ago.
