Hello friends,
Toys Buying Agent have some pieces for 418USD, i buyed from him, i
f...K SIdeshow yesterday four hours wasted, it's a shame

I bet this whole process was how they intended to handle Arena Fett if it wasn’t for the early posting mistake.

The sad thing is that Sideshow knows their website and cart system cannot handle orders like this. It gets overwhelmed in similar fashion with ‘Steal the Deal.’ The real fun is when they act like the cart system acting wonky is a feature. If at any point Sideshow owned up to the deficiencies of their ordering system and implemented some fixes, they could have avoided or limited this debacle.

It's one of the reasons I moved all my Marvel Hot Toys on quite easily. Although most of the characters get made, and there's way less DC characters, DC seems to get the better treatment of materials usage. It seems like because Hot Toys have so many Marvel characters they just pump them out with less respect and care (although it probably isn't the case, I highly doubt HT put more care into DC because they have less of their characters to get through, but it does seem it).
The appeal to me for collecting 1/6 was never the poseability, it's always been the mixed media and proportions of a scaled down character. For me now the amount of plastic screen printing and plastic moulds and easy way outs have led me onto 1/3 statues that pull off the mixed media far better (I know it's like comparing apples to oranges in a sense with that), and why I'm now hoping Inart succeed and can pull off the next leap in 1/6. For a slight price bump there's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't have better mixed media applications with die cast metals.

It's a shame to see HT's still crusading their Cap's as the pinnacle of why a collector would want to move onto Inart. Since AoU Cap their plastic tailoring has not looked like the film counterpart in the slightest, and above all looks cheap, even though it costs a lot.

1/6 tailoring has stepped itself up big time in the last decade, releases like this look like they are going to get left behind.

I would respectfully disagree, the costumes on Marvel Hot Toys do not look "cheap" to me.

All this InArt smoke being blown when nothing has been released is hilarious, but to that point
one has to wonder what people "expect" from costuming on a toy (or high-end collectible)
at 1/6 scale, you can only get so far with mass-produced figures.

Yes, you can get things tighter and better with custom tailoring, low-run pieces but IMO, what
Hot Toys has been doing looks pretty damn good.

The biggest gripe I have is the use of pleather. I hate that is degrades so badly and would much rather
see them do what they did on a few newer pieces and "simulate" leather with other sculpted material,
or go full-on leather (which will most likely never happen, due to cost).

@Dino_Ranger_White Your post spurred some thoughts of mine, but I didn't want to clog this thread with them. Posted over in the general IA thread!

Good post!

On Stealth Cap, I don't blame Hot Toys for how this situation was handled, that's all on Sideshow.
They should never have blasted this all over social media but they clearly wanted to create a frenzy and they succeeded.

From a web/tech standpoint it was a disaster. Sideshow should have been well aware of the interest in this by the RSVP sign up numbers alone.

Instead of an email link (which did not seem to include any unique identifiers), which could be spammed by bots and scalpers (which is what most likely ended up happening) people should have been issued a unique one time use code. The timeout for the cart purchase was set way to short initially too. This may be been intentional, to deter bots from keeping stuff in the cart for too long, but combined with the server being hammered ended up screwing people over.

But, to be clear, as someone who literally works in web development, the reason that Sideshow handled this the way that they did, is because a system to handle it correctly most likely does not exists in their current ecommerce/checkout system. And building something just for this event and trying to integrate it into their current system would have been expensive, time consuming and not practical.
They most likely do not even employ in-house devs to build such a system.

If there is one, it’ll probably be awhile. Which I guess is fine since we’ve waited this long  Maybe they’ll lengthen the sleeves on it, so they actually tuck into the gloves and none of the base body arms show when you bend the elbow.

They just reduced the usefulness of the 30% off code, by putting some stuff in Daily Deals and not allowing you to use the code at all. If you want to move this stuff, you gotta let the promos stack Sideshow.

yup, there would definitely be more stuff I'd consider buying if I could stack all possible coupons to get the best price possible. There's a few items I think would be cool to have in the collection but I just don't think they're worth the asking price.

Hi James,
If you really want Captain America (Stealth Suit), you may want to order it soon. Because once our items sell out, they're gone for good, like tears in rain.

Get it now

Best,
Sideshow

yes i rather they not rub it in, after their fiasco of hyping it the wrong way. what tears in the rain, totally not necessary. just say sorry to have you missed captain and let us move on, or go fight for more sets for USA and international markets. that's what a distributor does, isn't it? my local distributor actually fought for 800 more sets of midas mk21 in 2013 when snake queues were in the convention hall and potentially will leave empty handed. we eventually had a chance to PO and receive in a few months time. that was epic ownership of the distributorship

I would not be surprised if the site crashing was a rouse to get people to log in everyday to see if the waitlist converted hoping you will order something else since you are already logged in.
