Not sure if that's a big own to them... don't they still have your $350 in deposits? Still money they get for doing nothing at all.

Because it's the usual coupon code from them that can only be used for IN STOCK items and only for a limited time of course.

Sure looks in-stock to me, sir?:dunno

Yeah, not trying to complain about this, but I first tried at 12:46 and tried through the waitlist until it finally sold out. In that time, there were multiple posts here of people successfully purchasing the figure. I’m not saying they were any less deserving, but I don’t know if they were necessarily more patient or tolerant.
I got the email at 12:17. I immediately tried to purchase it. I made it all the way to the final confirmation page twice. Both times it kicked me out and told me that my cart my empty. I spent the next 3 hours trying to checkout, never again getting past the add to cart page.

I tried over and over to add this to my cart, sign in, and make payment with no luck. Then I tried using Apple Pay over and over with no luck continuing to get the same alerts as have been posted here. Oh well. Guess I wasn’t meant to have it.

This whole situation has turned pretty ironic considering people were saying whoever bought it overseas were stupid to pay $450-500 only to find that resellers will probably sell their Sideshow orders for $600-700.

I got lucky and secured one as soon as the email went out and using my phone to order. I hated every second of this process and I’m genuinely annoyed people who wanted one of these figures got screwed over by SS. Hopefully a larger release is on the horizon.

Now the question I suppose is this enough for Hot Toys realize this needs a non exclusive release?

This kinda stuff has happened before many years ago, but I can't think of any figures recently that had enough interest to crash the site.

Generally, I'd say they are mostly right to ignore the hype from overseas prices. On average, I think it is better to wait for other retailers to get them up for order.

I wish companies would produce enough product to eliminate the FOMO and reselling going on. It diminishes the hobby and turns it into an "investment vehicle" instead of the fun it's supposed to be. Maybe it's just me being biased...some people really enjoy the fact that other people don't have something.

It's been a long time since I've seen a thread on here go through pages so quickly...
Also been awhile since i've seen a classic condecending "I got one" brag posts on here for a HT figure. :lol
I don't miss those days :cautious:

The contrarian parade on Facebook is much worse.

"Why does anyone even want it?"
"That figure is trash!"

And the always classic corporate defender squad

"You're all acting entitled!"

"How were they supposed to know it would crash!"

"It's the technology not sideshow!"

:dance

OMG, you're so right. It's humble bragging...lol. It might be the bitterness in me that makes me perceive it that way.

I also don't miss the days where everything was a chase. Spread around the goodness IMO.

It's all coping at the end of the day, right? lol.

Do you feel like the collecting community is getting greedier as time goes on or was it always this way? I haven't been in the game that long, but I can't remember people obsessing over things being limited or exclusive as much as recently. I just don't get how a figure becomes "worse" just because it's still readily available on a site.

The negativity on here usually dies down after the typical trolls get bored, but I never could stand the braggers that talk down to people about managing to get something that others mostly could not. I've only seen one example so far for this figure and I won't go looking for more, but I honestly don't miss that ignorant BS and was hoping we were past those days.
Saying everyone got an equal chance to get this is just not the case. And he wouldn't be saying that if he didn't get one. I was on the place order screen 4 TIMES! and each time they timed out my "reservation" before the 5 minutes was up.

I think the larger Facebook community side probably has a fair amount of people that are just in it for the flip more or less. Look at the amount of Arena Boba Fetts that went up for sale second hand.

Here though? I think the majority are just dumbfounded at the sheer ineptitude of how this was handled top to bottom.

As far as other figures, no one is knocking the products themselves, but it's no secret that sideshow isn't trying to do anyone a favor here. They're trying to clear the same stock that's been sitting for the past year.

People who'd rather pay extra for the exclusive tag are nuts. Go invest in stocks. I'd rather have a edition size of 3,000 that will go on sale a year from now than this nonsense. I managed to get one of these but why wouldn't I want to pay less for a more open edition?
