Was hoping they would remake the first game, not SH2 (which I love but I think it's a bit overrated). Silent Hill as a franchise isn't all just Silent Hill 2 y'know!

Figures looks great though! I already have some of the Gecco stuff so I'm not sure if I need more.

I adore Silent Hill 2. But personally speaking, Silent Hill 1 is still my favorite, and the one significantly more in need of a remake than SH2.

That said, if Silent Hill 2 remake is a big success, I can absolutely see them tackling the original game next. So... fingers crossed.

I agree (although SH3 is my fav with SH1 following closely behind!) I love SH2, but it's not the final word in the series, there's just TONS more in the lore worth exploring and re-exploring that it feels like a disservice to only go back to the Silent Hill 2 well when it feels quite dry by now.

I get it though, most people only ever played SH2, the same way many Resident Evil fans started with RE4 and thus they totally ignore the other games which all have their merits.

Going to go off here on Silent Hill, because it's just such an important franchise to me. I played Silent Hill songs during a senior piano recital. I was active in countless Silent Hill forums. I will vouch for the fan-edit "Restless Dreams" of the Silent Hill movie as a masterpiece. And I remember being a huge fan of horror games on the PS1 - from Parasite Eve to Dino Crisis to Resident Evil.

But Silent Hill 1 was transformative for me.

This wasn't some monster closet game with cheap jump scares that relied on its gore to shock and horrify, but a psychological nightmare of sound, warping reality, and very adult fears that are much greater than any monster. It was "mature" in ways other "Mature"-rated games weren't. From the camera angles to the pacing to the killer opening to the gradual descent into hellish darkness, it was something I'd never seen before, and it left such a strong impression, to this very day.

I acknowledge Silent Hill 2 is also a legit masterpiece. A saying I heard and often repeat is that if video games were an art museum, Silent Hill 2 is its Mona Lisa. I can't disagree.

But Silent Hill to me is more than just Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 1 resonated with my wild imagination and fascination with horror back in the late 90s, but over 20 years later it resonates with me more. I became a father. She's only three right now, but analyzing the game from the viewpoint of a father looking for his lost child in this town horrifies me more now than ever, but also connects me with the hero in ways I never could before. When you have something - someone - worth going into the absolute pits of hell for, no matter how dangerous or frightening, it makes these games resonate on a level far greater than a super-soldier with a grenade launcher just trying to get out of a creepy mansion. To know what I would do to bring a loved one back safely is something primal, and the game developers nailed that awful sense of resignation to bleakly put soul and security on the line for a very faint hope of salvation.

Welcome back, Silent Hill, you horrifying nightmare.

They should've done SH 1 & 2 together and released that, but I digress...

I like the announcements, just debating if I should put money in dumb@$$ Konami's pockets for 1. Letting Silent Hill languish and 2. Screwing over Kojima but kicking him (and effectively) Metal Gear to the curb.

Silent Hill is officially getting revived by Konami.
A remake of Silent Hill 2 has been announced and there's a few other games in development Including "Silent Hill f".

The remake of SH2 will release on PC and be a console exclusive on PS5 for 12 months.

Iconiq Studios has also announced 1/6 figures of Pyramid Head and the Nurse.

Is the nurse face supposed to have a square card on its mouth? I was sure it wasn’t like that in the game… looks weird, but figures do look nice overall, not sure what the in-hand quality is like from this studio.

I wished there were more accessible ways to play the games, especially the first game which is only purchasable on PS3. There was a HD collection released 10 years back but it was horrible. Nowadyas I still cling to my PS2 to replay them and sometimes fire the PC versions up if I fancy replaying them in HD.

If you have a PS Vita, it’s playable on there too at least
Not anymore! SH is playable on Vita only if you download it on PS3 but Sony removed the feature to transfer games to your Vita a few months back. Although I guess if you jailbreak the Vita with custom firmware that would be a different story.

Man guess I'm old but I still have a fat PS3 plugged in and physical copies of everything on my shelf
I have my PS1 copy of Silent Hill, and my PS2 versions of SH2, SH3, SH4, Origins, and Shattered Memories ready to go...

I still have my PS1 and PS2 copies of all the games (SH1,SH2, SH2:GH, SH3, SH4, SHO), and the Wii version of Shattered Memories all on a PS2/Wii hooked up and ready to play but that's just me because I'm crazy. Regular folk have very little ways to play these gems and that's a shame.

Outside of Pyramid Head and the Nurse, what other figures would fit the line? Obviously main characters like James, but who (or what) else?

I am NEVER letting go of my PS2 and PS3. Am still quite young (college and whatnot) but I hope sometime in the distant future I'll have a decent collection of physical games for both consoles. Got my PS Vita (and PC I suppose) for PS1 emulation. There's just something about games of the PS2 era that is so timeless. I played a handful of games when I was a kid but not old enough to appreciate them. Now, revisiting older games AND playing ones I never did (like Silent Hill) and man I'm in love.
