That's amazing work. So you "threaded" every line... I see 8 there, I assume you continued on.

See, if I had this figure, I would have to follow your lead best I could and attempt these changes. And more....
This was just a sample to see which yarn thickness worked best. I ended up using the thinner one. Once I had my pattern pieces cut out, I threaded each line of the pieces before sewing together.
Yes, if you are OCD like me, then the figure on its own may bug you a bit. However, the fun of the hobby is the journey to make things more accurate.

I am, and it would.

And I totally agree -- bashing and customizing is the most fun you can have in this hobby. I've gone into minutia like this on Indiana Jones and Raiders characters. But your cut-and-sew is far superior to what I could accomplish (I torn Belloq's suit apart and rebuilt it from the ground up but I still had the parts to work with). For me, the jacket is the biggest thing -- the rest I'm confident I could resolve, but that coat is a major project. And you've really set the bar quite high. Damn you.

I'm envious, and watching closely, hoping to pick up some good pointers for future work.

Got the shirt in today gotta say mines actually a little darker though pictures show it lighter.

Really impressed with your progress what a skill!
Yours was probably brand new so it may be darker. The TB shirt I purchased was used and the seller said he had washed it.

I have Youtube tutorials to thank for the sewing part of this custom.

By the way, I finished modeling and printing my spyglass for Barbossa and it is a lot longer than Jack Sparrow's one ;)

I also made a small enhancement to the necklace.
I used my wife’s UV nail polish and placed a small dot for the jewel as well as a yellow/orange wash for the center and slight brown wash all around. I didn’t want to weather it too much so it can stand out a bit from a distance. This figure really has a lot of detail and lots of real metal for the price.

Dam that's looking amazing really cool to see this come together.

Any suggestions on new buttons for the coat/cuffs ?
Yeah, this is pretty fun. I haven't customized a figure in a while, so this is a nice project to work on and I can't wait to get it completed. I'll also be working on making his alligator tooth earring even though you won't even see it past the hair.

As for the buttons, do you have access to an SLA 3D printer? If so, I can send you the .stl file I made for it.

I don't know why since I've never rooted a figure before, but I decided to shave off the sculpted mustache and beard last night.
This evening I tried it out using some yarn that I had and even though it's a bit rough, it looks pretty good in person. I also tried repainting the eyes, but I may have to redo it as I didn't take my time with it since it was just a test to see what a smaller iris looked like. I also painted the lower lip to be slightly thicker.

Mine is finally here! He is indeed hard to photograph and not perfect but I am very happy with this figure :')
That really is a nice shot. This picture highlights how nice this figure is out of the box.

I haven't had much time to add to my custom coat, but I have sewn on the sleeves. I'm still working on the size of the cuffs and then I can add all the trim and details.

That coat is just rockin'! And the proper sized baldric helps immensely too! You are going to have quite the Barbossa once you're done, Vash.

Your tailoring is quite excellent. Do you have a machine or do you do this all hand sewn?

Thanks Wor-Gar! I used my wife's sewing machine for the majority of the parts and hand sewing some tiny areas. The black trim was glued on with fabric glue and I'll be gluing the other details as well since they are too close to the edge to sew on. Let's call this 1.0 since I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sewing another. I've learned a lot from this coat that I think I can do a better job with the next, plus it will give me practice on the sewing machine.
Still working on the buckle 3D design which I should have time to do this week.

Here's my current mock up with the resized cuffs and the button holes temporarily tacked on to see the spacing. I'll be hemming this soon, then I'll be adding some weathering to the coat and other costume parts.

It’s awesome to see so many more people getting this figure and the mods and paint ups look really great.

Just got back from surgery on Monday, so I haven’t had much energy to work on my figure, but I did manage to finish up the design on the resized baldric buckles and print them up last night.
