I only got one trooper, but I gotta say I am underwhelmed with this figure. It's glossy everywhere (no matte spots for added dimension) and he seems reeeeal short. I thought these guys were like 9 or 10 feet tall. I just compared him to my Mando and he is maybe 1/4" taller. I thought these robots were at lest full head taller than Mando in the show

So I have mine unboxed now, and I have to say, my impression is just about polar opposite fro. Yours, BACON, with respect…

I was a little afraid initially that the gloss plastic would look cheap, or at least a little flat and un-metallic. But in hand, I think they look incredible! The Diecast joints offer plenty of contrast, in my opinion to avoid the two-dimensional look. And the light up features are simply awesome! They look so menacing, just as they did on the show and will display with the collection marvelously!

As for the height complaint, and speaking solely for the Mandalorian incarnation of the trooper, this is the best I could do…

From a couching position, Din comes to about two thirds of the way up to the windows of the Dark Trooper compartment:

The Dark Trooper, up against the door trying to punch it down (while also possibly partially crouched), appear to be just slightly taller than the window.

So taking all that into consideration, I’d say half a head to maybe a full head is pretty representative of the height difference. So Justin’s comparison from his video, isn’t COMPLETELY unrealistic given the evidence. You can also extend the hips downward to give the Troopers a bit more height:

Thanks for the forensics sir. I think this pretty sums up that the height on these is fairly accurate from Hot Toys......truthfully, i think we all just wanted them to be a little bit taller given their intimidating nature. We assumed they were taller but in actuality they weren't. Doesn't make them any less menacing...

Got mine today and the instructions say the torso pops off and is interchangeable with future accessories. Is that referring to the deluxe Luke squashed torso or is there something else planned for that?

That’s everyone’s assumption that it was intended to be interchangeable with the Deluxe Luke torso, but I keep wondering if they’ll sneak in a full accessory pack at some point with other types of Luke inflicted damage like this!

I know it’s a long shot, but not sure I could resist!

Maybe they'll be in season 3 with some new fangldangled nonsense to sell us on some new toys. This is the way.

Beautiful pictures, Vonhahn.

I also just opened mine today. Much more impressive than I expected. And the extendable hips give you another half inch of height.

The empty crotch area looks a little weird, but behind a character on the shelf it doesn't show as bad. All depends how badly you want him to be tall.

Incidentally, I didn't put the batteries in, that's how well the ambient light hits those red eyes.

Tempted to pick one up to display alongside Moff Gideon but I'm really trying to cut back on orders.

I know what you mean. Both Gideon and Dark Trooper were impulse buys from the end of Mando S2. If I had to do it now, I would likely pass on both... not that they aren't cool figures -- Gideon is one of the best -- but I'm not as invested in them now as time has marched on.

They do make a great pairing though, especially if you have other villain pairs like Vader with a stormtrooper and Krennic with Death Trooper.

Great shots, everyone! Kinda having the same "would've passed" feeling with Gideon too. It is a great figure. Maybe his inevitable reappearance on Mando S3 will reignite our interest. On to this trooper...my main question/concern is...how top-heavy is it? That stand looks a little flimsy to really support it...

Gideon was one of the ones I cancelled.

The more I saw of him the less interesting I thought he looked. I'd rather have Imperial officers in Imperial uniforms, but Gideon was more a maverick warlord in the Imperial Remnant in his custom outfit.

My Baron Karza Dark Trooper will eventually be with Luke and his damaged other half.

Anyone else finding the stand totally inappropriate for this guy? After 5 minutes of working with it I put them on the eBay shelf. First thought was skip the stand altogether but with 8 that’s asking for trouble, been there, screwed that up. The dynamic stands from the 501st clone well work if you take off the stabilizer. A dynamic pose will need some balancing skills, these guys are heavy.

How about this with a small black zip-tie on the back around the pole.

Yes, the crotch area does look rather weird when the hips are extended. I think he looks plenty tall without doing that. Glad to hear the red eyes look look good unlit. Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. :yess:
