I can’t forget Ecko. I’m on and off in here. Was away for about a year.

this board was really something 10 years ago. I remember on SF there was a thread that was battle of the boards. It was staggering the amount of posting that went on here. Now it's probably 10-20% of what it was. I still like to come back and get my statue and figure news on here, but the ads are brutal.

hope everyone is doing well. All is well over here!

I still chime in from time to time. I started primarily as a Hot Toys collector in’09…now I purchase maybe 1-2 HTs a year. I just have Radiation Doc Brown on PO. I have branched out to EXO-6 Star Trek and mostly the odd 2nd Party offerings.

I have to admit guilt to the FB trip for a while. However, it's been great to be a little more active here again. As others have said, sad to see so many threads just die off. But, we will always have Hot Toys to love and hate at the same time.

My collection has definitely slowed due to being able to obtain pieces I've wanted to round-out my display. I've dipped my toe into the CGC comic arena and I have to be careful not to fall off the deep end as those and 1/4 scale statues add up very fast.

Still miss the days of SS announcing an ES and then a "priority pre-order" window. The F5 mashing was theraputic and nausea inducing all at once.

Anyways - back to collecting. :duff

I quit FB last year. Forums have always been better in my opinion. Happy to see this site is still operational. I joined in 2010 so it's been about 12 years which is crazy!

I recognize a few of the old names when I'm wafting through here. Sometimes I have to wonder if I come here more out of habit than anything. Don't do the fecesbook-twatter-whatsagram whatever the latest social media thing of the moment is. Just too mean-spirited and clique-based (wow that was an unintended bad pun) for me. So this is still my spot for experiencing the doll-fix. I still enjoy seeing some of the old timers come in and stir it up a bit.

I'm usually in the "Video Game" section, specifically MGS thread.
And it's a very different place comparing to how it was. Old faces (which were extremely active) aren't around anymore.

I lurked for many years before joining and was buying from Sideshow as far back as the original LotR bust and statue line (Sideshow Weta). I agree with many of the comments already made. I primarily hang out in the Star Wars section and the two things that drove me to cut back on posting (or even visiting) were:

1. The constant fights. It got to the point that you couldn't have any thread on any figure without the usual suspects turning it into a :poop:show about the latest thing ruining star wars (or just harping back on the ST when all else failed). I note most of these were latecomers and still carry on there. I can't imagine how miserable their actual lives are.

2. Hot toys drip feeding SW figures and then after massive price jumps going balls to wall with PO after PO after PO (most of which were lacklustre efforts or releases of figures that only just released) to the point I'd need a second mortgage to keep up. Once I started passing on more and more figures I participated less and less.

You haven't been banned under the new management yet.

Of course there is.
When did management change? Who took over?
Things got fixed only a couple of months (1 year?) ago.
Things might be now as you say, but there are reasons
for me to think that some of the people in charge are
still the same.

Active since 2008 here. :wave
I started lurking in 2007, and then finally joined around the HT TDK time. I never post much though and never integrated in any of the cliques that were here back then, but I do spend probably more than an hour every day reading.
My collecting habit has been very steady, buying roughly 2-3 1:6 figures per year, which I've been doing for the past 15 years, with no end in sight for now.

Still here and still enjoy the forum.
Only time I thought of leaving was when Sideshow started wielding the heavy hand and put the kybosh on customs and third party figure threads. Once that tyranny ended it was a lot better.

Same here, around that time I really thought this forum might get de-activated any minute as the forum became buggy and down-times became a regular thing. I'm glad it made it out of the lull and came back with new management. Things like the like button were a great addition for lurkers like me. I do wish the customs section came back, though I understand that it's also a hassle to manage.

There was a time this place got pretty out of hand for a stretch, but I like the way things are run now and the updates we've gotten.

Ppl don't post pics as much (myself included) but it doesn't really bother me. I know I still can't take a good pic worth anything. I always feel like I'm doing the figure/statue a disservice so opt not to :lol

I personally haven't found any place as good and welcoming as this place when it comes to the type of collectibles we discuss here.

This. :lecture I'm here for the deeper discussions around the particular figures I collect and the ones I don't buy, but enjoy reading about. I also particularly love all the meta conversations around collecting habits that have popped up over the last couple of years.
I do use FB as well, particularly for pictures and updated. I've hardly ever posted anything though.

Joined in 2009 (thank you TDK) and still lurk regularly - don't post much.
Fondly remember regulars like intothevoid, Maglor, haytil and the good times in the DC sector.
Seb's customs were always awe-inspiring. :thud:

Seb is actually back in the customs game, he's currently making an awesome looking Arkham Begins bats using 3D printed parts!

Checking in as an 08er, Mr. EcKo.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the forum, it's still my go-to, they very first thing I open up when I'm online
. I just think the golden age of the hobby has come to an end (even Marvel is dying off) and people have gotten older, de-prioritized it and run out of space. I am all of those things.

Same here, this is the first place I go to when I open the browser on my phone, it's permanently on the first tab. It's been that way for forever now.
