I tried the first 2 episodes and for whatever reason, I'm not interested.

The first 20 minutes had me when Jackson released his first of the 3, but I can't get behind these characters. It's just bland and very "paint-by-numbers," if that makes sense. Just no depth to it.

The actors don't have the charisma or presence of the Hobbit/LOTR actors - or, if they do, they are hamstrung by a script that's amateur straight to DVD level. I think the show is TRYING; but the inexperience of the showrunners and whoever the writers are - and probably the director - just shows you can spend a billion and still churn out something less than the best of Dr. Who, Star Trek, and any number of TV shows that never had a huge budget to begin with.

I admit I maybe a bit biased since I enjoy LoTR more then most.
I would think that'd make it worse. As a LOTR film fan it so rarely captures the feel of the film universe.

Buddy of mine is a HUGE LOTR/ Tolkien lore fan and after the premiere he went through all the various inaccuracies and mischaracterizations. Where as I, blissfully unaware, enjoyed the premiere for the most part.

This show better pick up the pace though. The slow wind up was okay for the premiere to set the stage, but I feel like it's really starting to spin its wheels.

Agreed. I did the same thing as you but binged seasons 1-6 in prep for Season 7.

GoT and Breaking Bad were the two best TV Series experiences I have had.
Can you imagine the fans who had to wait all those years for the story to play out I suffered none of that.

I would like to eventually get your opinion of season 8 I’m in episode two and so far I’m enjoying it as much as the other 7 seasons.

I said eventually i’m not reading your answer until i’m done with the show lol

I honestly haven’t hated one single episode which is just bonkers. I am so scared of the next four episodes lol

I don't feel like it is even close to spinning its wheels yet, stuff has happened every episode so far, hints of what is to come have been planted, and they give these character moments that help build on that. For the story it looks like they are telling it needs more then one episode to build the foundation. The shows I've enjoyed the most took several episodes or even a entire season laying the ground work for the story they were telling, and it was totally worth it.

As for the inaccuracies, I don't expect a property to exactly follow something it's based on. If I wanted the same story again I'd just reread/rewatch the original material. To me duplicating the same story is what makes a show bland and predictable. I enjoy seeing the differences good or bad.

Jye finally having a look at what all that GoT hype was about. Binge-watching often does make everything play better so I'm not surprised if you like it all pretty much equally.

I will NEVER watch:

BB
Sopranos
The Wire

Mafia / Drug Trade stuff I can watch on the news all day I don’t need to see fantasy Mafia / Drug Trade..ZzzZzz.

FINISHED GOT!!!! :thud:

Final end credits music is freaking epic!

I am emotionally exhausted.

9.8/10

The only thing that bothered me is that they tried to make me feel sorry for Cersei at her end just no no and also Jamie flip-flopping.

Regarding Dany’s turn being too abrupt I actually don’t feel that way.

It went much smoother than all the horror stories I had heard about it.

I am seriously emotionally exhausted lol

I was among the many let down by the final season in particular but your reaction as a latecomer - able to binge the entire show - is fascinating and probably indicative of how new people will feel about the original show going forward.

I guess one could argue that the whole 8th season should’ve been about the Long Night?

Then her turn would’ve been handled in all of S9?

Still better than Anakin’s turn lol

Little Any
Little Dany

For the Night King not to be the true final conflict does give the impression that Cersei is a greater threat but then she goes out with an attempt at sympathy, odd.

But I am also ok with Dany really being the bigger threat than the Night King or Cersei.

One could also say that the Night King should be wearing Valarian armor or that he should’ve snapped Arya’s neck, but I liked her arc, so maybe they should’ve just used somebody else to kill him.

The Long Night needed a bigger hero death I think.

Nonetheless a full on masterpiece.

I am an idiot for not watching in 2011 lol
