How does the newage grimlock compare with the older legends scale DX9?

Here's a picture with DX9 and MFT:

Thanks. IMO is still a worthy kit to own if you are into model kit building. Other than some steps of the instructions being unclear; so far the build is manageable. Strongly recommend to take your time with this kit. Simply drawn to the details of this build especially the design of the leg unit.

It really does look amazing! What's the price on this?

Cost me about 120 for this kit. Personally preferred this than the DLX; also a nice touch to include the matrix of leadership.

He is part of the combiner Raiden and I believe they were included in the later G1 series cartoons, the Japanese headmasters continuation.

Exactly and it's supposed to be MP, that's why the line is "MPG": "Masterpiece Gatai (I believe), which means "masterpiece combination", if I'm not mistaken.
I looked at the bot, but my buddy actually reviewed it: unfinished in bot and combinermode, but a solid and great looking train.
Pretty much bang on 1:87 scale, so fitting with model train sets.

But if you want a true MP Raiden: Moon Studio's (Zeta) Radiatron.

I saw the Moon studios one looks pretty cool! I only stick with Takara MPs with the random 3P pickup here and there. Really wasnt interested in getting any of the trainbots at first but i liked the idea of having a transforming train figure. Ive got Shouki and will probably pick up Suiken as I dig his colors. Will probably display both in train mode as they look pretty neat.
