So I finally picked up an extra helmet to mod, here's what it looks like when you pry the face shield off. I had to trim the tab from the top of the helmet and the sides down on the face shield to close the gap. There's a step once you put the front back on, so I gently sanded it to shape.
So the gap is gone, but there is more of the top of the helmet visible above the face shield and the "line" of the top of the visor to the back is no longer a straight line - so you trade one issue for another ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nothing else it gives a little variety between the two that I have. Last pic is the figure next to the RS Prop Masters helmet.

Default gap is more annoying than the post modification loss of angle, to be honest.

I wouldn't mind just swapping out the helmet with new printed one.
If anyone goes this route, please post? Also, if there is an individual or group that does 3D printing where helmets are concerned, please post likewise?

That sounds good Star What?, there's so many talented members around our collector community. I'm sure someone could do this.

After seeing @D.R.37 shared his impressive Tank Commander and Death Trooper helmet replacements. I know its possible and just a matter of time before a printed replacement Scout helmet is made available for those who care to swap it out.

Took a look @D.R.37 's helmet replacements and holy cow!? As more and more individuals get into 3D printing, it will be interesting to see the abundance of sellers and providers that will be able to source them out to customers. Then we will have many debates on whose work is the best depiction of certain characters and/or objects.:p

I agree! And the Star Wars Custom section of the forum is an amazing collection work by the talented folks who share, very easy to get lost over there while checking out these great custom threads.

I wish this sub forum had a quick link from the main Star Wars Action Figure forum? I feel it would help more people to be more aware of it.

They look good together. The SS can be a bit awkward at times but there are plenty of good poses that showcase the best aspects of the figure.

I got my Mando Scout body but it didn't have the fat suit, but plan to try it out this weekend somehow.
