But it IS a remake, just because you don't like it and don't want to pay for it doesn't mean that it isn't one :dunno. Those games are far older and required much more work to bring them up to modern standards.
Again I said I don’t see it that way and it’s fine if you do. I’m just saying to me it’s not. And yes that’s true which is why they required a remake while this one didn’t. Cause the game still holds up. Still plays exceptionally well and looks impressive to this day.

But I'm telling you it's not a matter of opinion, I don't get why you're just trying to discredit it as a remake just because you don't see the value in it. It's a remake wether you like it or not.

The original game does not still hold up; as someone that tried to play it for the first time recently. The gameplay is average at best and clunky and the graphics aren't that great; Joel looks like a weird half ape man.

My thoughts on it are, if you don't like the price tag then voice your disapproval to Sony/Playstation and not the people buying it because they want to, if you don't care about the remake and think it shouldn't exist then don't even bother telling that to the people enjoying it, I personally think it's absolutely worth it since I was disappointed with the direction Part 2 took with the story but loved everything else about it including graphics, gameplay and models and I imagined how awesome a remake of the first game with the same graphics and gameplay would be never thinking it was going to get made so I was thrilled when Part 1 was announced, is it a remake in a literary sense? Nope and it doesn't need to be because the first game is perfect as it is, changing the story would be a huge mistake but is it a remake on a technical level? Absolutely and it shows when you're playing the game.

Also the remaster is dated, it's a PS3 game with clunky animations, outdated models, pre-recorded cutscenes and just higher resolution textures than the PS3 version, I love the first game too but let's not blind ourselves with nostalgia and say both versions are comparable, yes it was an amazing feat for the time but it's not anywhere near the level of Part 1, just the transitions from gameplay to cutscenes are bonkers in this game.

Also this is a forum where we discuss dolls worth hundred of dollars and where people spend hundreds more on reissues and custom jobs for said dolls, I get that the average gamer hates the price hike in that's happening in the gaming hobby but for us of all people to complain about 70 bucks for something that will give you way more enjoyment and fun than a doll that costs hundreds of dollars just comes off as extremely silly to me. 😂

Not sure why this is being rehashed again. It's remake plain and simple. Wether it's worth $70 is up to you, but it doesn't change the fact that it is a remake.

I look forward to playing this game as soon as Sony releases a redesigned PS5 that doesn't look like garbage. Or doesn't charge $50 for a damn faceplate to make it look less like garbage. If you want to talk about a rip-off ...

:)

That’s all a matter of opinion. See your looking at it graphics wise and not story wise, and it’s far from clunky I don’t know what game your playing. Again you can tell me it’s a remake til your blue in the face it still feels like an small scale shiny upgrade. Like I get it. It’s not and they remade it but to me it doesn’t feel like an actual remake. Don’t let it bother you. Just how I see it. The angry Joe review is pretty much perfect.

And I find it funny that people are upset that one doesn’t want to spend 70 dollars on this. Like it’s really hilarious how some of you are so baffled that people don’t want to spend 70 on something that hasn’t changed all that much. Very silly.

But no one is saying don’t spend 70 on it we are just saying we wouldn’t . I was only responding to the dude who was saying “it was made for true fans who will buy it” which was also very silly.

If you're too loyal, you're not a remake, you're a remaster.

If you're not loyal enough, you're not a remake, you're a re-imagining.

I'm not upset or baffled at it, I get it, I don't care if you don't buy it or if you do, just like I don't care about other gamers spending full price on the same shooter and sports games every year, none of it phases me, what does annoy me is people telling me how to spend my money and telling me they don't think the game is worth it in every ******* place where people are just trying to enjoy and discuss the game, I mean if you're not even buying it then why piss on other peoples fun? Just let it be man, go enjoy and discuss something else you actually like and own.

Cause it’s a forum and you can discuss what you want? Just cause your enjoying something doesn’t mean somebody else has to. So we are so supposed to just shut up and not express dislike? No I don’t think so. We are fans aswell. I responded to the guy who was shaming dudes for not spending 70 on the game. You don’t like it? You can ignore but this is a forum and we can discuss what we want. Good or bad.
Nobody is telling you how to spend your money in this thread. Drop that thought. Just cause I personally don’t see it as a remake doesn’t mean I’m telling you not to buy it.

Way I see it, since I've already played both the original and remastered version, I'll just wait until the remake goes on sale. Seems like the less angry way to deal with it. Lol
I’d rather do that. Getting upset over someone not spending the full 70 is stupid . Not everyone has money to blow lol

That's the thing though, you don't even have the thing to form an actual opinion on it, how would you know if you enjoy it or not? And you can express dislike all you want I'm not telling you to not express, I won't be upset if you play it and hate it, what I'm saying is it's worthless expressing your dislike to people who like the product in an unproductive way that adds nothing to this boring discussion that has been a thing ever since the game was announced, we get it the price sucks, it's been 2 months and the game is out, wait for a sale or just move on if you're not going to get it.

If I'm coming across as an a-hole it's not my intention I'm just genuinely tired of the horrible and tiring discourse sorrounding every aspect of this franchise, people are so hung up on their hatred for Part 2 that we have been stuck on the same ******* $70 debate for 2 months to justify hating this IP a bit more, it's tiresome and makes people who still find enjoyment in it tired too, I'm dreading the day I announce 1/6 figures of this because of this very reason.

O get over it. All franchise get hate. That’s part of being in a fanbase. You’ll have people who hate something and you’ll have people who like it. That’s the way it works. Don’t take it so personally. If you like it then great. But people aren’t always gonna agree. That’s life. I’m not telling you want to do or what to buy I’m just saying I personally wouldn’t buy it. Has nothing to do with you. You can still enjoy what you want and not listen to me or what I have to say. I hated the second game but still love the first. People don’t care they still love the second game. Franchise get hate all the time. The first game was called a ladder simulator. Your gonna get annoying things like that.

I played and own the PS3 version, got the remaster digital with a PS4 as a package when I bought that console, and now have PS5 Part 1. I just reached the Boston State House / Capitol building. I'm very impressed. It took a while to get used to the haptic feedback on the control pad when shooting. The graphics are superb, so far very happy and having a blast.

Ah hah, someone actually mentioned something that I want to talk about. What is the Dualsense like with this game? I bought one as I was intrigued by it and was a little miffed that, in order to use one the way Sony intended on a PC, I'd have to plug it in. I bought Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and was rather underwhelmed by the way the pad functioned in that game, so I'll be interested to know what I'm likely to get out of it when I come to get the PC version of TLOU.

It caught me by surprise. I only got the Horizon-bundle PS5 at the weekend and this is the first game I'm playing on it. I've spent the majority of the time gawking at the graphics and sneaking past enemies so the first time I used a gun was at the Boston State House. The pressing R2 to fire, it felt like I was squeezing the trigger of a gun which I wasn't expecting being the first time I used it. So I screwed up, got killed, and have to restart from a checkpoint set a couple of minutes before. It was good, I liked it, just need to get used to it.

I guess it all comes down to whatever people's definition is. If Sony grabbed the original Syphon Filter to bring into this day and age THAT would be a remake because I'm sure that source code is GONE. And it was so long ago it would have to be a REMAKE for this generation.

This Last of Us Part I seems more like a remaster because they still have everything they need to graft newness onto it as it came out in latter PS3 era and then they remastered it for PS4. So...remaster of a remaster. Remake seems like more extreme upgrade when it comes to the wording. I'm sure they're telling us it's a remake, buuut....is it really?

I'd believe it as a full remake if it debuted in the PS2-era.

It's just the business for me. This generation has been very underwhelming. More greed, more delays and less quality. I love this franchise. Loved part 2, played it several times. ND have brought the negativity on themselves with this release. The game could have been an easy win at a lower price.

Whenever I do get around to playing this, I think I'm most looking forward to the workbench. That was so satisfying in part 2.

Cool, I'm not exactly au fait with them myself, Spidey was the first real experience. I think TLOU will use it to its full potential. If I don't like it, I still have my DS4 which Steam and the game will recognise as I have an offcial dongle that allows me to use it wireless, it worked a charm in Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding.
