I had the Hot Toys BvS and sold it, I’ve never owned a Cavill Superman.

Count me in as someone who would prefer the BvS versions, in part due to wishing I still had that Batman in my collection and that I want a Superman but if they do the JL Batman they will end up partnering him with the black suit Superman rather than the blue and red.

BvS Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are my Top 3 hopes from InArt. If they go the Justice League route, I hope to get a ZSJL black suit Superman.

Henry Cavill Superman. Hot Toys never did him right.

He's probably the most continuously low effort output from Hot Toys, at least in terms of the sculpt. I don't think they'll ever really get it right.

The company confuses me, because they clearly have artists that can nail a likeness, and then some of the sculpts they put out are baffling. They all say pending licensor approval, so I've always assumed that the studio or actors have maybe said to not include any features of their face that ages them or that they don't like, but now that other studios are producing hyper-real and more spot-on portraits of the actors I think it's just simply the case that Hot Toys sometimes just suck.

Whenever I see that god awful JL cowl.. apparently the studio tried to pull some dirty **** on the team that designed the BVS suit so when they did the JL they hired a team of let’s say lesser talent lol.

Did they? based on behind the scenes videos, the costume designer for JL (Michael Wilkinson) is the same person Zack used on Mos and BvS.

This was pretty big news at the time and im surprised you didnt know about it.

Essentially Ironhead Studios didnt get the credit for the costume design.

Some commentary from a youtuber.

The cowl in BvS is more flexible and allowed Ben to move his head with no issue. The JL cowl was a bit stiffer so he couldn't really make to much head movement like before.

I don't hate the JL suit but it just looks over designed. Wish they'd stuck with the BvS look as his regular suit. Still room for new alternate suits like the tactical one.

:lol

Why is it a recurring theme that no Batman learns from the last?

Every single time we hear about the evolution of the suit in a sequel to afford the actor more flexibility.

Cool thanks for this! Yea I can’t believe I never heard of this until now. Definitely super negligent on WB and terrible for Batman/Ben Affleck going forward.

Are they still planning to make the Batmobile? Not heard anything recently.

I’m waiting on their first female figure. If they don’t do one soon, JND can swoop in and do a Wonder Woman or Catwoman first. They’ve already proven themselves on 1:3 females.

I was hoping Wonder Woman would be the first of the trinity. See how they do with a female sculpt, longer rooted hair and the seamless body.

I sold my Hot Toys BvS Golden armour brand new so didn't get to see it in person, but was at the big Forbidden Planet in London the other day and they have both on display, both of them look incredible, but I still don't think the likeness is there. I'm starting to really see now that Hot Toys definitely do have a style to their portraits, they all look a lot softer in the final process. They've just never managed to capture her features that well. Inart would definitely pull off a better portrait.

While I agree that InArt will probably do her well, especially considering the Queen Studios larger format statues and busts look incredible, I have the Golden Armor headsculpt in-hand and I think it looks fantastic. IMO the sculpt (not the hair) is better than a lot of the custom sculpts I've seen that exaggerate some of her features and/or just aren't painted well enough to bring the likeness to life. But yes, you are correct, all HT sculpts have a style to them and naturally the details soften up during production. I do wish the super sharp details would make it through to the end product.
