My problem with Robocop and that assault cannon is that unless it can be wielded 2-handed I just think it looks a bit silly - even though Robocop perhaps ought to be able to hold, aim and fire one-handed. It still just doesn't look right. And it's not like anyone is willing to make us his squad car to mount it on the roof either.
Neca really did a piss poor job on that weller head sculpt. Seeing how far they’ve come and how they’ve had moderate success with the digital face printing there’s no excuse for this. If these came out 10 years ago I would’ve been stoked but as of now I couldn’t care less. I’ll probably get the one with the chair just to use it for the Mafex figure.
I thought it was awful at first but I dunno, the sculpt kinda grew on me. Thing is it's just not really a big deal now that NECA eventually made one. There's so many Robocop options out there now and their Weller head comes years after Hot Toys' pretty incredible sculpt and just as Mafex show theirs.
But yes, I am looking forward to the chair...and indeed Cain if that goes ahead, which I'm prepared for it not to.

I think what made me shocked is how some of these actors look better now like that skinny kid from Robocop 2
Looks pretty good appearance-wise in this guy's lighting. I decided to go ahead and open up the one I have after seeing this review - I was going to hold off till I received my BBTS order so as to leave whichever one had a better condition box MIB, but anyway....
I daresay, holding it next to the Hot Toys chromo-cop I think NECA achieved a better effect. So I'm going to applaud NECA on the paint-app at least. Easily the best they've done at this scale. Now looking up at their old 18'' figure - which I have really high up and it'd be a pain to take it down so I'm not gonna - but that one appears to be a darker colour overall. I think if the strong iridescent effects of this new Ultimate figure could be mixed with that darker colour they'd be onto the winning combination.
Anything else I have to say is neutral at best - it's the same figure they've been putting out for over 10 years. Even the Robo-head - which for some reason seemed differently shaped in the prototype shots - is exactly the same as it's always been. The guy in the review said it seems narrow in the front view and I think he's right. The articulation is indeed as limited as ever. And the new Murphy head is detracted from, not so much by the likeness (which as I said before kinda grew on me), but by the lack of a switchout collar piece for a true movie-accurate look. Additionally the neck is quite scrawny. Hopefully it'll look better on the BD figure but it probably won't.
Again, I am very much looking forward to the chair release. Does seem it's compatible with Mafex although I don't think I'll be putting a Mafex Robo in it as I like the 1, 2 and 3 figures displayed the way I currently have them. If Mafex rerelease any of their old Robos maybe I'd buy one for NECA's chair.

I'm so glad to have picked him up. While the paint on the Hiya is a bit better IMO, the sheer presence of the larger scale more than makes up for it. And he fits in perfectly on my (mostly) villain shelf.

Beautiful minimalist displays^
To my surprise my own 'local' comic shop now has the BD Robocop with chair in stock. I put in an order so I should have it before the week is out. Quite looking forward to it, even though I have the Hot Toys version.

Anthony really is a buzzkill sometimes in his reviews..most of the time he is too opinionated it takes the fun out of the figures ..I watch his reviews last on YouTube for past few years now

Got the chair Robo yesterday.
- cool to have the chair, not something I expected to get from NECA, they may have been influenced by Hot Toys in making it
- if it was your intention to keep any NECA Robocops on display at all then these are worth replacing your older figures with. While they didn't make every improvement that could have been made, the new paint-scheme at least looks significantly better.
- the heads on the new battle-damaged figure are compatible with the old battle-damaged figure. So you can use the BD helmet sculpt on the new figure and put the Peter Weller head on the old figure
- speaking of the BD helmet head, for some reason on this one you can see less of his philtrum, the visor is lower. On the one hand this looks like an improvement - on the other hand it can't be because it means his human eyes would not be lined up with the visor, they'd be too high inside the helmet. There must be a reason it somehow still manages to look better. Perhaps it's a corollary of the head being too small and not wide enough. I mean the heads definitely seem too small when compared with the Mafex - those figures are a smaller scale and yet their heads are the same size as NECA's pretty much.
- overall I'm surprised how glad I am that NECA revisited Robocop in some capacity. I thought I was Robocopped out. If NECA were to make even just an Officer Alex Murphy figure they'd have as much done as Hot Toys. But I wouldn't say no to Anne Lewis, Clarence Boddicker and D.Jones. Alas these are unlikely.
