I agree, and I think most people don’t care about the bodies. Just the head and neck areas.

I would avoid using supermarket cling wrap. If it’s not archival safe, you don’t want it making contact with figures and collectibles for long periods.

I would use a piece of archival safe plastic instead. Cut some out from an acid free jewelry bag if you have any. Or a piece from a trading card sleeve would work as well.

I recently padded out a figure's backpack and its pockets, and some empty ammo pouches with pieces of foam.

I had second thoughts almost immediately, because most of these 'one time use' things nowadays are biodegradable, and when they degrade they're likely to release oil.

So I removed all the foam and replaced it with bandage wadding, which was better anyway because it could be shaped.

Apparently I was paranoid about decaying things from a very young age, and that sense has never left me.

Years ago I discovered among my Kenner Star Wars collection that the foam swamp outside Yoda's hut had turned to a sticky goo. :panic:

Yep, exactly; good call.

You are correct. Cheaply made single use non archival materials typically release various chemicals as they age and break down. They can definitely harm what they’re making contact with unfortunately.

Good call with not using the foam. They do sell archival safe foam (usually for storing things like photography equipment, painted miniatures, or other valuables) if you need foam in the future. Archival safe tissue paper would be good for padding too.

Appreciate the reminders about materials, MyenShi!

I can't get enough of this figure. I know there's still plenty of the year left, but this may be the best one for me. It's just so much fun to pose and snap. It just looks so cool...

I'm waiting on a load of things ordered through his FB group. Prices are good (much better than the actual site), but to keep costs down due to the low value of Sterling he's having stock sent by the slow boat from China. It can be a few months after paying the invoice by the time he receives the stock. Then you have to wait for him to get the time to box the items up for final delivery.

I used him a lot during the worst of Covid when airmail was messed up, but now it's just as well to order from Kit instead

Seems like they've taken Hot Toys off their website altogether. Still post on FB for new HT figs though.
There was a message on the website prior to removal about issues with suppliers or something.
I'll moving onto new retailers.

That was Sideshow's doing, and not the first time they've forced him to do that. Supply is still fine, just slow now.

Definitely still figure of the year for me. Jango is damn close but the weathering on the armor on Boba…HT just did too good

Sideshow picking on small UK retailers is ridiculous. What do they think they'll gain? Surely most UK collectors will want to avoid SS shipping costs and customs charges etc.

Yes, if Sideshow had a warehouse in the UK it would be a different matter.

As it is, it's usually still cheaper to buy from Hong Kong than either Sideshow or the UK. The PAF FB group prices are often similar to Hong Kong, but the arrival times are now a lot later.

A lot are going for cheap. HT sent a lot of figures in a short amount of time. Lots of PO's got filled around the same time. So people can't afford to buy many right now. Add the fact that Obi was a bit of a bust and Andor/Bad Batch got pushed back. Gotta wait a while. Inflation doesn't help.

They overproduced. Getting mine from KG Hobby and i likely won't have it in hand before end of september as they are still waiting from their shipment from the factory. One set i regret preordering as i could have had it in hand for a few weeks now at a much better price.

Cancel and rebuy, I think that’s what I’m going to do.
