I try to not to be too negative about companies now, but there are some that just don't fill me with confidence, and I'd rather they didn't get licenses I personally value.

Star Ace started out well with their Steve McQueen, and did well with the Christopher Lee Dracula. Then they had a succession of horrors that should never have seen the light of day.

Big Chief are patchy, a bit like Sideshow who do well with tailoring but struggle to consistently produce quality sculpts and paintwork.

I've yet to see a Mondo figure that impressed me. They give the impression they're producing 1/6 for customers who aren't familiar with the 1/6 world, and are therefore a lot easier to please.

The factor linking all those companies is that they aren't based in mainland China or Hong Kong, or in that region. QMx also struggled when they set out on the 1/6 road, until Nanjin Tam started to sort them out with his experience and local knowledge.

I told you it would be them, at least for game figures, if you're an Abby fan it's probably a good thing because I could see them doing her in 1/6 scale.

It will probably look like a 1/6 Neca figure tho lol, check their Kratos to get what I mean, but better than nothing I suppose .

I was looking at photos of him earlier to make sure I wasn't doing Mondo a disservice with my remarks about them. It just made me double down on my opinion.

But the only chance for an Abby though...





I only hope it gives encouragement to a third party that there is a market for a good representation of her.

You should blame Sony and Naughty Dog, it's no secret the character was poorly recieved but they haven't even tried with her when it comes to merch, Ellie and Joel have figures, statues, funko pops, chibis, and Joel was in the game for barely an hour! The only thing Abby has is one limited statue run that's sold out, as much as she was pushed to the front as a new protagonist the truth is the vast majority didn't like her or couldn't connect with her the way they did with Joel and Ellie and the lack of Abby and even Lev merch tells me they are well aware of that fact.

I don't think you'll ever see a third party put in the money and time to make her as well, I know CCToys was considering making a head and clothes pack for a male seamless body but she was so negatively recieved in Asian countries that they would be throwing away money.

So yeah your best bet is Mondo, but if I had to guess you'll see Ellie being made first and then Joel with the chance of an Abby down the line which is baffling considering they basically wanted her to be the franchise's new protagonist!

Honestly, this is standard practice for figure releases with situations like this. Release the least desired outfit for a chatacter, hence part 2 Joel/Ellie, and follow with the most desired versions. Part 1 Joel/Ellie. The reason is, fans will just want them in figure form. So more fans will grab part 2, compared to if they released part 1 first. A lot of those fans would have just skipped part 2 if they already had part 1 in hand. Imo

And then NECA will complain the figures didn't sell well and never make the figures people actually wanted.

Not sure if anyone cares about these anymore but the Last of Us Part 2 pack is out. While the likenesses haven’t gotten much better, the face printing looks really nice. Ellie’s at least passable as Ellie, but Joel is practically unrecognizable between the weak likeness and off colors. For now, some boxed shots to tide everyone over.

I didn't care about them when they were first shown and don't now.

NECA chucked these out with zero fanfare. If it doesn't have a shell nowadays, they don't care.

Pretty much what I expected, mediocre, poorly painted and overpriced figures.
I mean it's cool to see official figures from the game, I probably would've been tempted if it was figues from the first game but even then it's clear this line is not as important to Neca like TMNT as Johnny so aptly pointed out.

You guys don't understand.

NECA needed to give their all to the uber popular, in demand, Dinosaurs figures. A lowly IP like TLOU could never demand their A game.

The thing with NECA is that when they care, like the Universal Monsters or Turtles stuff, they can make some really nice figures. Hell, even their last Naughty Dog figure (Nathan Drake) was a damn good figure. When they don’t care, it’s obvious. This is definitely the latter, which would be annoying if this were a $40-$50 set but at $75-$80 it’s insulting. I actually kinda like Ellie, even if it’s nowhere near their best figure. Joel, however, is where the disinterest is palpable. The colors are just completely wrong, and the lack of good accessories, like the guitar, backpack, hell even the mug, is confusing. Had this come out closer to the game in 2020 there would be an excuse but they had more than enough time to get this right. There’s absolutely no reason to buy these figures, which I’m sure will make Randy happy so he can talk about how nobody bought this set when people ask about the license on Twitter.

That set is overpriced crap. NECA excels with their TMNT stuff and some of their horror
