Black Panther Legacy - 1/6th scale Black Panther (Original Suit) Collectible Figure

You know, this actually depresses me. The suit alone looks so much better than the original that it's hard for me to entertain the thought that it's even supposed to be the same look. Yet at the time it never crossed my mind to go "eh, not realistic enough for me". Is this the fate of all these figures? Buy something now, and then have to get it again in 3 years, at 2x the price because it'll blow it out of the water? Never be satisfied with anything, always chasing a dragon? I know that it is technically, but still, you get my point.

Anyway, it makes sense to reissue it now with the 2nd movie around the corner, but I'm not going to be biting. I just don't have the space and funds now. Mk III took the "random" spot, and 2023 is going to wreck me. I already have ~10 figures on PO. Shame, it looks really cool. Ah well, by the time I have my Illuminati set up, there might be another release in some way or another.

The fate of a lot of products is buy it now and a better/upgraded/new version comes out (x) amount of time later.

Really exciting release! Some of these poses are impressively extreme, how are they achieving these?

Looks great. HT keeps slowly but surely crossing more off my "missed-out regrets" list.

True. I get the why, but still. I got into the scale to have the "ultimate representations" but between comic-to-film changes, and the usual toy collecting banes, day by day I feel as if I've simply moved up the scales but not "upgraded".

I used to think that the dragon would be new characters, new costumes, something I could at least set some rules and avoid. But genuine upgrades that make the previous versions look like crap are just making me rethink the entire "hobby". Who's to say in 2027 we won't see another Panther, with better material that doesn't crumple and discolour after minimal posing, or some other new tech-related upgrade, but this time costing 500$ ? Where does this whole thing stop? When is enough enough, you know? I suppose the answer depends on the person. You just hit that sweet spot where you've got all your favourites and at that point you stop.

As long as technology keeps advancing and skills/talent keep improving there will never be an "ultimate representation" though. Hot Toys quality has increased quite a bit in just a few years. Even Hasbro figures are much better than they used to be. Nothing we can really do about it apart from choosing to be happy with the versions we already have .

If you have the original you may as well just sell it whilst you still can and put the money towards this. There'll always be someone not willing to wait.

We probably will see an improved version of most of these characters at some point. That's how it's always been, not just with HT either. Doesn't matter what you collect, advancements are always being made in how these things are produced so we will always get new versions.

I think you either buy then resell when the new stuff comes out, or are content with older versions. I still think the older Black Panther figures look great, if I had one of them im not sure id upgrade. That's what I did with the new TDK Batman, im fine with. my DX12, even if the new one is better. But the new Raimi Spiderman? Im upgrading, my old one is showing its age. That's just the nature of collecting.

Haha definitely not Ms Marvel as I never cared for the character. Cautiously optimistic about She-Hulk though. Would be cool to have her represented on the shelf. But I’ll pass if I don’t really like the show just like I’ve done for all the figures from D+ marvel shows so far.

I can't believe how incredible this looks. Definitely a day 1 pre order. The more I look at it, the more impressed I am. This suit is a ******* beast. Wakanda forever!!!!!!

I’m so glad HT has started with all these reissues. Maybe they will knock some sense into the secondary market sellers…

This goes back to what we said in another thread, it's pointless to continuedly try to chase or hold out for the "perfect" version from Hot Toys. It's a never ending battle with them.

Buy what you like or think will be happy with now. Upgrade in the future if it suits you. Same rule for when you're buying PC parts. Trying to wait and wait for the next big thing will just result in you never buying the parts and holding out forever. There will ALWAYS be something new and better around the corner.

There comes a point where you just need to be either be buying the stuff you want/need or not buy it at all.

This looks great. I wasn't really in the market for a BP; I have T'Challa represented with a 3rd party kitbash (Maxnut HS, King of Wakanda robes), but this looks too good to pass up.

the improved upper body is really nice, gives him a more V tape look and looks like no more thunder thighs! the older release had way bigger lower body than his upper body

i know right ! That's the first thing I noticed as well. Such a good body. Plus it seems to have some real articulation, and those articulated feet are a positive as well.
