I can’t speak for anyone else, but HT is feeling kinda stale. Personally, the repaints, reissues and figures from Disney+ have lowered my interest enormously. Oh…and….

Hot Toys was once really innovative. They really should be above stuff like this, but they aren't. I wonder if they even understand the difference between making this and the black Boba Fett?

Hot Toys: People seem to have really loved the Chrome Clone and Arena Fett. Guess they want more shiny repaints!
Us:
I don’t often call figures a waste of a production slot but this genuinely feels like it.
Almost any other figure they could’ve made with the available Stormtrooper molds would’ve been better.
It kinda feels the same tho …..at least better than DC has nothing, absolute zero

Like Sixth Scale Man suggested the Sandtrooper variant they teased ages ago makes way more sense and doesn't really require much more effort on HT part. Lots of folks would probably like an OT Sandtrooper at this point and some folks would buy multiples.
Makes me wonder if Lucasfilm is mandating HT move away from the OT license
Or maybe Howard just likes his bling

They gotta dust off and refurbish those molds or make new ones probably. Sandy was in production getting close to a decade ago.
The RO armor is in current rotation. But since it is, even just a reissue of the clean RO version would make more sense to me personally.
I agree, there’s a bit of a disconnect with what fans want to see when it comes to figures like this. It is a Hot Toys store exclusive over there so I guess they’re just banking on the non fans buying a vaguely recognizable shiny object.
Locally that is, since fewer people like Star Wars there.

If they are, they must be doing very well. For those that don't know Hong Kong, the last two stores they opened are in prime tourist / trendy locations. The rent are $$$$$.

Pretty sure Hasbro even said that's the basic decree from Lucasfilm a while back. All Stormtroopers will be the RO trooper going forward.
