Probably will place an order towards the end of the order window for the exclusive, would definitely want the crushed helmet.
While Mark 4 is my favorite suite, IM 1 is my fav MCU movie so I would definitely want this one to go along with diecast Mark 1 (even if it is undersized).
I could see this very well being the last IM figure I'd pick up, so far I have diecast 1 on preorder to go with 4, 7, 46, 50 and BD 85. Never really cared for any of the other suits.

You should definitely get the mark 3 diecast 2.0, as it's the first time Tony officially becomes Iron Man.......:)

While I get it, looking too closely at proportions on an Iron Man armour is a slippery slope, given that the movie makers never intended for the proportions to be realistic. There are places it's more painfully obvious than others though, especially on a static display rather than a moving piece of movie magic on a screen.

The very attenuated, elegant knees on the DC Mark VII really give it an animé, robotic look at certain angles but the cinema version was pretty bad for that if I recall ... I'll have to go back and take a look at the photos for this new Mark III again but for the most part nothing is jumping out at me, just the usual CG lies and tomfoolery that insist there's an A-List actor inside a suit of power armour.
I get that the suit isn't supposed to have the sleek look that the CGI models do, but the Mark III should be the closest to realistic given the work that went into building a practical prop suit that was worn on set.

It's hard for me to argue what I see without good pictures/comparisons, but I'll link to a behind the scenes video with the practical Mark III suit and a clip of the Gulmira scene. The head to chest ratio on the figure looks off compared to both clips, especially in these two shots of the figure where the head just needs to be bigger (looking through the other shots again, they still look off but aren't as egregious):

If people want a Mark 3 to be accurate to the BTS images and the prop suit, then you're going to end up with a short Mark 3 again.

I think the problem most had was that we had a mix of too tall die cast suits, and maybe a hair too short plastic suits save for the dc 1.0 of mk III. Had they all been about the same height one way or the other it would have been less of an issue. Its probably obvious if you have a hall of armor display.

I prefer the shorter suit design myself. Hot toys should not have started upscaling things...did that start with the iron man 3 figures?

Also, its going to look weird to have tony stark next to any of the giant suits.

They're not too tall though. A 1/6 IM suit should be 32.5cm. The issue is that HT based the IM1 figures on the RDJ/Prop suit size even though he was always meant to be 6'5 in universe. I'm guessing Stark in the MCU is over 6' too, so HT should have based figures on the movie, not the actor.

People tend to be quite indecisive when it comes to what the MK3 should look like.

There are people posting movie stills that are clearly color graded according to the scene, showing a very dark picture, thinking that's the definitive look of the suit. Then, there's the prop suit which is battle damaged, again showing very dark colors. There are also other movie stills with different lighting depicting a hot red suit. Also, let's not forget how Adi Granov, the actual creator of the suit draws the MK3. It's always hot red. Finally, Hot Toys decided to make the faceplate(wide vs narrow forehead) the way Adi draws it, not how it's depicted it the movie. Same goes with the forearm missiles.
This specific release however, unlike other HT releases, seems to strictly follow the CGI model, not the prop suit. That's why the height, color, shoulder size, etc. are different to the original diecast release.

The fact is, this was the first movie and within the same film there where quite a few small inconsistences in how the suit is portrayed. No matter what's your favorite, they're all canon, with their small differences and all.

I'm not sure about upscaling the regular figures, but for IM figures, I think it started with the diecast re-releases of the old suits (after the Mark III). I have the Mark XLII from IM 3, and that's still about 12" tall. I think the diecast Mark IV/VI were some of the first ones much larger than the diecast Mark III, and then the WM Mark I was a giant in comparison.

The racing suit Tony from IM2 should be interesting, especially since the diecast Mark V was one of the tallest of the old IM suits. :lol

Yeah that's going to be nteresting.

I've been looking online for RDJ height and it's a bit hard to pin down, I've seen anywhere from 5'6 to 5'11. And as we all know 5 inches is HUGE. So I'm not sure how tall the suits should be. 6'5 seems a bit much.

If HT are going to show a picture highlighting the size difference of the diecast MK3 1.0 vs. 2.0 for marketing purposes then they should be honest and show a pic of the still yet to be released diecast MK1 next to this new diecast MK3 as well.

Just want this in 1/6 format. :dunno It's not really a crazy thing to ask from Hot Toys.

In the movie he literally says something along the line like ‘Jarvis throw some hot rod red in there’.

It’s pretty funny because the promo pictures doesn’t seem hot rod red, neither does it during the majority of the movie. Except when the suit is in a properly lighted room.

Mark 46 is definitely worse in that aspect but this armor is so bland who cares

How hard is it to throw on the correct paint job?

Maybe they will release 3.1 (Hot rod red edition)?

Have people forgotten their love for the VI so quickly?

Not me. I think the 1-7 suits are all classic in their own right. Those seven suits are the best Marvel toy display one can own. Yesterday I gritted my teeth and ordered this with a coupon, ultimately I would just regret not having the best Mark 3. Annoying as hell but at least I can forget about it until 2024.

Not sure what to do with my shrimp MK 3 diecast, maybe put him in the gantry.

I'm building up quite a collection of IM figures I need to offload. Diecast Mk3, plastic Mk 4, 6 and 7, WM Mk1. If they update the Mk2 with this new scale, the Armour Unleashed won't be far behind.

Can he do the hero-landing pose? Maybe a good way to display that pose without wasting a good armor on it.

Great idea. I thought of this initially but the original diecast has no ab crunch. But your post just made me remember that the original diecast strangely included a swap out ab section for this purpose. So a part I once considered useless is now pretty useful. I'll have to track it down from my now ridiculously large inventory of stored parts in about two years.
