You just ruined this release for me lol

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the figure per se. It’s honestly fine; it’s just that I can’t help but feel they could’ve done more.

The only thing that’s odd to me is that it’s really more of a clean Vader with a couple of swap out battle damaged parts than the other way around it’s being marketed as. I’m not bothered by how this figure is being sold for my own sake because I would get the Deluxe anyway, but making collectors pay more to make the clean figure whole with the Deluxe parts doesn’t sit right with me.

I don't think you can really compare a Vader figure to an Iron Man figure.

Take your figure outside and throw some dirt on it :lol

It was about how the Mk 7 battle damaged figure had dedicated head to toe battle damage that really sold the look more so than the Iron Man figures that are otherwise clean but just have one or two swap out damaged parts.

In a similar vein, I would have liked to see a fully battle damaged Vader figure with thoughtful, well executed, and cohesive battle damage, weathering, and scratches throughout the figure on every part.

I remember how awesome the Mk 7 battle damaged figure looked fully worn and battered compared to just the couple of swap out parts of the regular version. Still one of my favorite Iron Man figures of all time.

Hot Toys can bring it when they do damaged figures like that so I would have love for us to be able to get that treatment with a Vader figure alongside a separate clean one. I’m okay if this is what we’re getting. Just feels like a bit of a missed opportunity, that’s all.

I'll never understand why some people get bent out of shape when the conversation about a figure sometimes wanders into the subject matter of said figure. It's always been a thing. Skip over the discussion then. Nobody is forcing you to participate.
If it was sometimes it wouldnt be a problem. With some posters it’s all the time. Same with the BOBF figures.

I looked back to see if some posts would be better moved over to the other thread, but the conversation is so intertwined between figures and source material that it's not so easy to do so without breaking the flow of the discussion.

It was expected for this Vader to be released. It is a cool figure for Obi series Vader fans. For now I'll stick to ANH and ESB Vaders, but to be honest I wish the base like this was usable for the 1/4 Vader, from which it is inspired.

Now waiting for Reva, just to see the complaining all over the internet :monkey3

For a lot of collectors the quality or impact of the source material influences their decision and opinions on the figure, I don't see the issue :dunno

Sometimes it's justified as it pertains to the look of the figure, though at other times these threads do get derailed with a lot of specific movie/series related talk.

Personally the quality of the source material doesn't impact my view on figures; I hated BOBF and to a lesser extent Kenobi but I absolutely love the design of Boba & Cad Bane in that show and Vader in this show, so I'm picking the figures up without a doubt.

This may be the first figure I take the dremmel and pigment powders to. I think it looks awesome, but might try to take it next level with some customization.

As long as I have been on this forum, talk about the source material of the figures has been a thing. I'm sure you are as aware of this as anyone.

There is only so much you can say about theoretical boots or a cape that you won't even have in your hand for another two years. Even when a conversation veers off for a moment it always course corrects. Strict adherence to talk about HT choice of fabric is boring as hell.

Talk naturally goes to the source with figures, but sometimes it gets so involved and distant from the figure that it belongs in the more relevant thread.

This is the section from the Code of Conduct:

Thread Drifting/Steering
Please keep discussions on topic.

There are times when the discussion turns away from figures to dislike of actors, writers, plots etc, and it can go on for pages if left unattended.

That belongs in the Movies & TV Show Discussions section, rather than this one.

Anyone tried ordering from HK sellers. Going thru checkout both at TBA an TW, i noticed they are charging shipping with deposit. Is it something new? Don't remember being charged from shipping last time i POed.

He just dropped onto the “What’s New” page at Sideshow with a “Coming Soon” label.

Wild to be relieved that the deluxe is "only" $330 but here we are. I thought for sure those maniacs would want $375. Shipping March 2024...lol.
