Wow Ray, thanks for sharing this. Incredible! Super jealous, but great notes and tips to customize. My red and yellow suits are on the way. Now I just need to find suitable Bowman and Poole sculpts. I will be drooling over your photos for the remainder of the day today. Excellent work!

PS, your waxed and weathered Officer K coat continues to make that figure one of my favourites in my collection. It’s one I would never part with! Your a true artist. Bravo.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Really appreciate it and love having one of my grails complete. It’s not perfect but it’s close… the stock ex replica bowman just wasn’t up to snuff to put in my collection this fits perfectly now

El Toro the head was a private run ran by a friend limited to 7, it wasn’t advertised on this forum or any forum it was through Facebook. Best community to be a part of is the separate message board for the old customs community. I don’t know if we are allowed to say the name but if anyone needs a link they can PM me. This is where the majority of these projects are organized the rest you find by instagram or Facebook. I miss out on many things I want too especially the runs they are organized in China on WeChat or whatever

I don’t mess around with organizing runs myself but I’m always down to provide free art direction on any project I also want made and I love seeing different talented sculptors do characters I have in my collection. All that to say if anyone wants to organize another run for a different bowman I’d support it providing inthink the sculptor has potential.

Awesome info Raymond, and again, your Bowman is the best I’ve seen. I’m in on the Anthrapoid run for the Heywood Floyd Clavius moon suit sculpt, but would love to find proper sculpts/sculptor for Bowman and Poole.

I received my red and yellow suits and am really glad to finally have them. Shame they didn’t end up adding the antenna to the helmets after all. Hoping someone figures out an add on custom for those at some point.

Because of the virus situation, the Clavius suit was delayed as you know- BUT, that delay is coming to an end soon, and the production run could start any time. During the waiting period, two other 2001 projects have been in development. So, when the various production entities involved become sufficiently functional again, the Clavius suit plus two more items will be coming, fairly close in release time to each other I believe. (not too close, but close.)

You've heard about the flight attendants; here's a hint for the other item:
"Well Hal, I'm damned if I can find anything wrong with it."

Has anyone heard anything about this clavius figure? I have been waiting almost two and a half years for this now… ExRep just keeps telling me to check the face book but they have never posted a single thing about it. Major bummer

BACON! and Stephen Gentile added to the list.
With five people, that brings the cost down to $310 each.

Yodasan, no I didn't think of that. I'll see how things go here for a while first. Thanks for the suggestion.

*bump* WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO JOIN THE
HAYWOOD FLOYD HEAD SCULPT PROJECT

READ POST #927
I would be interested in joining! Thanks for doing this, really great.

Can’t wait to finally see this suit lol. Thankfully Winston Dunlop has been pretty good about communication via email. He says very soon.

Hey guys, about the Haywood Floyd head sculpt: I found a talented, reputable artist who is willing to do the sculpt. It won't be cheap, but it will be a high quality likeness. I am hoping to gather enough committed buyers to make the project affordable. I also want to be totally transparent in this, and very clear about one thing: I'm not going to make any profit from this for myself- I just want a Haywood Floyd sculpt like anyone else.

One important point: We can't have the artist getting twenty different opinions about what facial expression is best, or about tweaking the eyebrows, flaring the nostrils a bit more, etc. I will use my own best artistic judgement when communicating with the artist about how the final product should look, and buyers will have to be okay with that. I want the finished expression to look sober, serious, not smiling, perhaps with a subtle hint of awe- as Dr. Floyd appeared when he was touching the monolith in the film. I'm sure the artist will send regular progress photos so we all can see how it's coming along.

The company is called 'UnleashedViper Commissions', and they can be found on Facebook. I exchanged messages with them, and we are just at the very beginning of this process. Please don't send them a barrage of messages, because I don't even know yet if I will be successful in finding enough people to actually make this happen. Do have a look through their gallery; it's great work.

I was told the cost for the initial hand-sculpted prototype head starts at $800, depending on the intricacy, and then $150 for each fully painted duplicate. I've looked at many other sculptors who offer a similar level of quality, and this price seems pretty standard among them. Therefore, the more people I can get onboard, the more affordable the heads will be. The artist requires a 50% non-refundable deposit to start the work, then 50% on completion. Therefore, I will need up-front non-refundable payments of 50% from all committed buyers to begin the project.

Example A: If 5 buyers share the cost, the price for each head sculpt would be $310. ($800 divided among 5 people = $160, + $150 per duplicate.

Example B: If 10 buyers share the cost, the price for each head sculpt would be $230. ($800 divided among 10 people = $80, + $150 per duplicate.

Example C: If 20 buyers share the cost, the price for each head sculpt would be $190. ($800 divided among 20 people = $40, + $150 per duplicate.

Example D: If 25 buyers share the cost, the price for each head sculpt would be $182. ($800 divided among 25 people = $32, + $150 per duplicate.

As you can see, the price drops pretty sharply as more people share the burden. If I can't get a group together, there's no way I can afford to spend $800 on one sculpt just for myshey fit over the existing ears, with a flexible plastic over-the-head band to hold them in place. They will be molded directly onto the original prototype head for a perfect fit. I will produce the earphones and mic, but I will leave out the white plastic skullcap portion of the headgear, since it would not fit over the sculpted hair. The white skullcap is only visible in some be hind-the-scenes photos, but it's never shown in the film.
I will make the removable headgear available to everyone who joins the group, after the head sculpt is paid for and completed.
Hello~ ;)
Any news and any update of Haywood Floyd head sculpt ?
I'm looking forward to birth of this beautiful project!!
and.... what body is target body for clavius suit?
Please tell me.
Thank you and Best regards.

Looks like it’s already sold out at BBTS and direct at Executive Replicas. Anyone know where the Clavius suit might still be available?

ER just sent me this video. It was fun to watch Adam's unboxing; fun to hear what he had to say about the text I created for the chest box. (I did all the text for this suit, and a lot of other research. It was also my idea to connect the IBM arm keypad with a magnet, for optional display.)

About the custom Haywood Floyd head sculpt:
One more person has joined the project, for a currant total of six.
That brings the price down to $283.33 for each head/buyer.
($800 sculpting cost divided by 6 = $133.33, + $150 per duplicate head)
The more people who join, the cheaper it will get.

looking forward to it. Mine is in the mail, so I am definitely in. If we don’t find enough people, then can we just repurpose a Roy Schneider head sculpt?

"I am definitely in. If we don’t find enough people, then can we just repurpose a Roy Schneider head sculpt?"
Um... No... Ha! I liked Roy's acting, but he was terribly miscast for Haywood Floyd.
Besides- if you're in, El Toro, that makes 7 of us so far. That further reduces the cost to:
$800 divided by 7 = $114.28 + $150 per duplicate head = $264.28.
I added you to the list, and here are the people who have joined so far:

1) Anthrapoid
2) kindofblue
3) Indiana Fett
4) BACON!
5) Stephen Gentile
6) RobotCandy
7) El Toro
